Chapter 5 - Let's Raise Our Tier (2)
Chapter 5 – Let’s Raise Our Tier (2)
[Your ally has been slain.]
[Enemy Triple Kill!]
“Ah…..”
“Oh my.”
“That was close.”
The next day, the same members gathered again.
Park Jimin was taking a placement test with the help of Lee Jonghyun and Yoon Sangchul.
“This is getting a bit difficult.”
“It really is tough.”
Jimin shows a troubled expression.
At least he picked the champion Varus, did some damage before dying.
For the first time, he was assigned to the ADC position instead of his main top lane position, but he wasn’t showing a particularly good performance this game.
“ADC must be a difficult position.”
“It’s not exactly that…..”
Jonghyun briefly considered how to explain it simply without killing his friend’s confidence.
“ADC is important, but synergy with the support matters too, and in the early game, your influence is somewhat limited.”
“That’s right. Jimin definitely played better, but there was a support gap, and when the top side of the map explodes like this, bottom lane can’t do much.”
Unless internal conflict breaks out in the enemy bot duo, it’s generally difficult to make a difference with just the ADC’s individual ability. Even if you play better than your opponent, your teammates might not be able to snowball the advantage.
“Still, if you get ADC sometimes, pick Ezreal.”
“Ezreal?”
“Yeah, Ezreal is less dependent on the support.”
“Right, he’s pretty good in the current patch too.”
[Please select a champion.]
“Oh, I got ADC again.”
“Your secondary position is mid, so why do you keep getting ADC?”
“Mid is popular, so even with it as your secondary, you often get assigned to other lanes.”
The mid lane position has been the most popular since Sol was released.
Being in the center makes it easier to exert influence, and the mid laner, who is also responsible for late-game damage, has never had its importance underestimated.
“Mid would be good too.”
In Jonghyun’s opinion, Jimin would do well in mid lane, not just top.
With his level of mechanics, wouldn’t it be easier to climb tiers as a mid laner? Though he wasn’t sure why Jimin suddenly wanted to climb tiers quickly.
[Time to show my real skills.]
Jimin boldly picked Ezreal as first pick.
The basic quality of a ranged damage dealer. Unless it’s a meta where auto-attack based ADCs are at their peak, this is always a safe pick.
“Ah, Alistar isn’t that great here.”
“Really?”
Sangchul tilted his head when he saw the support pick Alistar despite seeing the Ezreal first pick.
“Ezreal’s weakness is lane clear, and Alistar isn’t great for that either. Plus, the combination with a tank support in general…..”
“…..”
“Ah, no, anyway, it’s not good.”
“I see.”
Since Jimin seemed not to understand, Sangchul made up an excuse. After all, they were talking about the laning phase, and in the late game, Alistar’s performance itself is good, so wouldn’t he know?
“Hmm.”
Slightly nervous, Jimin started to concentrate.
Jimin thought there must be some reason, but figured he just needed to do well.
“Oh, you’re doing well?”
“The enemy Varus can’t breathe, right?”
Jimin hit the enemy Varus one-sidedly with divinely accurate skill shots.
The enemy support was a damage support named Gerard, and Jimin easily dodged Gerard’s non-targeted skills after quickly assessing them visually.
[Enemy has been slain.]
[Double kill!]
“Ooh, nice, nice.”
“The jungler is helping well too.”
“Hehe.”
Jimin shrugged his shoulders.
To his friends, picking Alistar when seeing Ezreal was slightly unfavorable, but watching him tower dive with the jungler Jax showed he was quite a skilled user.
They say one-trick players might be disappointing in champion select, but they actually perform well in-game.
-[Team] Viktor: Let’s focus on the third dragon fight-
-[Team] Fiora: I’ll push top second tower, just hold them off-
-[Team] Jax: ???-
-[Team] Viktor: No-
-[Team] Alistar: Let him enjoy-
“Should I say something too?”
“Anyway, Fiora isn’t good in team fights, so that’s right.”
“But isn’t it better to join the team?”
Jonghyun and Sangchul, both with some solo queue experience, had differing opinions.
Jonghyun judged that a steady side lane push was better. Sangchul argued that they should still join the main force for the third dragon fight.
This is how opinions differ based on experience and thinking.
“·····”
Jimin had no thoughts on the matter.
The knowledge his two friends were trying to instill in him wasn’t sinking in yet.
Objectives? Anyway, they’re good to take and just an excuse for team fights.
“Oh, good poke.”
Jimin’s Ezreal successfully hit all enemy damage dealers with a perfectly aimed ultimate ability.
And then one-sided poking under the protection of Alistar and Jax.
“Enemy is retreating, back off.”
“This means free dragon.”
[Turret has been destroyed.]
Meanwhile, the allied Fiora was stubbornly pushing the side lane.
“Whoa, be careful.”
“·····”
The enemy top laner Naru had teleported behind them, and his rage gauge was almost full.
“·····”
The two friends were speechless.
Although their health had been chipped away by poking, the enemy initiates in a 5v4 situation.
Mega Naru follows up with a flash+ultimate combo.
Their team’s Viktor gets hit directly and explodes.
But before dying, he casts his ultimate and places his W gravity field as a final act of resistance.
[Double Kill!]
“Kill them! Kill them!”
“Ooooh.”
Jimin held his breath as he hunted down the enemy champions.
The highlight was dodging Gerard’s flash stun with his movement.
[Triple Kill!]
[Quadra Kill!]
-[Team] Jax: Ezreal – surviving –
-[Team] Jax: Ezreal – surviving –
-[Team] Jax: Ezreal – surviving –
-[Team] Jax: Ezreal – surviving –
-[Team] Jax: Ezreal – surviving –
-[Team] Viktor: Ezreal – surviving –
-[Team] Alistar: Worth raising you –
-[Team] Viktor: ?? –
[You have destroyed a turret.]
-[Team] Jax: Fiora is playing a different game by herself –
“Wow, that teamfight was insane just now.”
“I can’t believe how good you are?”
“Haah·····”
Jimin finally took a breath after his breathless dealing.
So many skills had crossed his vision in such a short time that his eyes hurt.
“I think you guys blocked well up front.”
“That’s true, but you were amazing too.”
“Yeah, not just anyone could do that.”
Thanks to Jax and Ali not panicking and protecting Jimin’s Ezreal, they were able to win the 4v5 teamfight. And Viktor’s tenacity was admirable too, casting his ultimate toward the enemy ADC Varus’s position without giving up until the end.
This is how Sol is a game where team synergy is important. Of course, if there’s a special player on the team, they shine even more.
[Victory!]
“We won!”
Jimin, who played Jason in mid and Aatrox in top, achieved a three-game winning streak.
“Oh, what’s popping up?”
Something caught Jimin’s eye after finishing the placement test.
“Silver?”
“Silver 2, to be exact.”
“Isn’t that low?”
“It is low, but placements are like this these days.”
“It’s not ‘these days,’ it’s been like this for a while.”
Jimin had excellent stats and his performance was top-notch in every game.
Yet the tier he was given was Silver 2.
‘Disappointing…..’
He heard about the solo queue tier distribution from his friends.
How much further did he have to go to reach Diamond?
“For an account playing ranked for the first time, this is actually good.”
“Yeah, yeah.”
His friends consoled Jimin. Was he always this obsessed with tiers? It’s quite surprising.
He used to be someone who showed absolutely no motivation for anything.

“Huh, what’s this?”
[Time remaining until chat: 23 hours.]
Yoo Dahee’s livestream that he had been waiting for.
But he has to wait a whole day to chat?
“Hello everyone, nice to see you. Today I’m only 20 minutes late.”
-?????
-?????
-Crossing the line
-Dahee time working as expected
-YouTube newcomers getting crushed ㄷㄷㄷㄷ
-She doesn’t even apologize anymore
-Did she ever?
-Novice: You’re 20 minutes late? Expert: Oh, you came 10 minutes early when you were going to be 30 minutes late!
“Ah…..”
‘I want to chat too.’
“Well, assuming you all played a game of solo queue while waiting, let’s get into ranked.”
[Double kill.]
“Ah shit.”
‘Huh?’
Jimin flinched at the curse word that came from the livestream.
-ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
-Kya
-Kya
-Ya-bal
-1 Fuck point accumulation
-Ms. Dahee, the enemy Lee Sin’s spell position suddenly changed from the previous game
-Another boosting service?
-It didn’t change? Let’s ban this false agitator
-If you’re going to play like this, why not just do bot games instead of ranked? Or is this intentional feeding? (I really don’t know)
“·····”
Yoo Dahee suddenly zoomed in on the chat window.
“You just made eye contact with me.”
-[Pool Party Ham Junsik has been forcibly removed.]
-hahahahahahaha
-hahahahahahahahaha
-Nice
-Caught red-handed
-Get out
-Even the nickname is toxic, well caught
-Death penalty for hurting feelings!
Snicker.
Viewers who really love when Yoo Dahee curses and dies.
Though she still didn’t fully understand it, Jimin found the game broadcast by this rough but cute woman entertaining.
She was enjoying it more as she was getting to know Sol better with her friends.
Thud.
“Park Jimin! Why aren’t you coming out!”
Jimin’s door opened.
[You have been slain by an enemy.]
“Aaaaargh! Really!”
Dahee wailed as she couldn’t land a single auto attack to take down her opponent.
-uwya
-uwya
-uwya
-Whoa
-Heuung
-I’m dying
-Is this an adult broadcast?
-I was watching this at school and everyone stared at me ㅠㅠ
-Gay…
-You’re watching this with the volume up?
“Huh?”
Jimin, whose face had momentarily flushed, hurriedly turned her head to the side.
She had turned up the sound to enjoy watching better.
“Oh, Mom?”
····
I don’t even know when I came back home.
Mom’s expression was contorting as she looked at me.
