Absolute Death Game

Chapter 25: Reshaping the Flesh

Yet the Serpent Lady had no name, her title simply read "Priestess of Nuwa Temple."

"Sister, I beg of you. I am Xiao Buli. I've come to ask for a favor," Xiao Buli said, quietly waiting for the Serpent Lady's response.

"You can see me? Ah, you are a man endowed with Merit Points. You must be here seeking something."

Xiao Buli replied, "That's correct. I have a friend who wishes to reconstruct his flesh and tasked me to help resurrect him."

The Serpent Lady slightly furrowed her brows, "The Merit Points on you are not profound, I fear they are insufficient for reconstructing a body."

Xiao Buli explained, "Worry not, my friend also possesses Merit Points, and he claimed that his Merit Points are enough to reconstruct his body."

Having said that, he took out the Soul Absorption Pearl and handed it to the Serpent Lady.

She took the Soul Absorption Pearl and looked at it, her hand holding the Five-Colored Spirit Stone suddenly flashed with light, shining on the Soul Absorption Pearl. The Pearl emitted a blue glow, and the spirit of a scruffy daoist flew out. Soon after, Xia Zuowei's spirit also emerged, though it appeared rather weak; both spirits floated gently before the Serpent Lady.

Xiao Buli immediately widened his eyes, intently focused on the resurrection process, fearing he would miss the slightest detail.

"So, it's you!" The Serpent Lady seemed somewhat amused upon seeing the old daoist. "I did not expect you to die again so soon; didn't you last come here just three months ago?"

Wudao chuckled and said, "Well, who makes me committed to vanquishing demons, punishing the strong, and protecting the weak? I often find myself fighting, and with frequent battles, mishaps are bound to happen. Naturally, I die more often."

But the Serpent Lady seemed already accustomed to his antics, asking helplessly, "Tell me, what kind of body would you like this time?"

Gleefully, he said, "Heh heh, I've amassed quite a few Merit Points recently. This time, I can't just settle for any mediocre body. I want a robust body with Copper Body Iron Bone."

The Serpent Lady nodded, took a hammer and chipped off a small piece from the Five-Colored Spirit Stone, tossing the fragment into the air. The fragment, like a stimulated cell, swiftly multiplied into countless tissues and cells, heart vessels, and muscle flesh, forming in the blink of an eye the figure of a human male with pale, newborn-like flesh, yet the size of an adult.

Xiao Buli watched with increasing amazement, and granted himself the Omniscient Eye while continuing to observe.

This didn't seem to be the end, however, as the Serpent Lady asked Wudao, "Now, tell me, what kind of Talents would you like for this body?"

Wudao brashly said, "No need to ask; just give me the best Talents you have." His demeanor reminded Xiao Buli of a young rich man in martial arts movies who would enter a restaurant and say, 'Bring me your best dishes,' with the same swagger.

The Serpent Lady nodded and pointed the Five-Colored Spirit Stone at the new body, which immediately began to change. The muscles became noticeably stronger, the tendons and bones thickened, and his appearance went through some transformations, quickly becoming a hulking, muscular, bald man with a square jaw, looking much like a Terminator.

Wudao looked on with satisfaction, "Not bad, not bad at all. This strong body is perfect for this old man. How much will it cost?"

The Serpent Lady calculated and said, "No more, no less, fifteen hundred Merit Points even."

The old daoist was immediately startled, "That's highway robbery! The body I requested last time with the 'Mental Psychokinesis' Talent was only eight hundred Merit Points."

But the Serpent Lady was unyielding, "This body has many Talents. For instance, the 'Horizontal Training of Muscles and Bones' Talent, which accelerates the increase in your Strength by five levels and initially boosts your Strength by five points. Then there's the 'Fundamental Strength' Talent, reducing your stamina consumption by three levels and initially boosting your Stamina by five points.

Not to mention the 'Immunity to All Diseases' Talent, which enhances your resistance to illness by one hundred percent, and your physique is initially five points higher than others. There's also the 'Innately Gifted' Talent, which increases your initial Charm by two points and gives you twice the stamina during sexual activities compared to an average person.

For such an exceptional body, I am only charging you eighteen hundred Merit Points and you still want more?"

Wudao was rendered speechless, eventually mumbling, "Alright alright, I can't argue with you. Can't I stop talking?

After finishing, he asked again, "Speaking of which, how many Merit Points do I have left?"

The Serpent Lady used the Five-Colored Spirit Stone to check Wudao's spirit, "You currently bear two thousand one hundred and fifty Merit Points. Deduct the fifteen hundred, and you're left with six hundred fifty."

Wudao pondered for a moment then said, "Forget it, I won't save it. This young brother gets along well with me, so help him out too. Just use these six hundred fifty points for it."

Xiao Buli was surprised to hear this; he didn't know what merits Xia Zuowei possessed that could impress Wudao, but it saved him from any further dilemma.

As for Xia Zuowei, who had been watching dumbfoundedly, his spirits soared upon hearing Wudao's words, and he immediately knelt before Wudao, bubbling with ecstasy, "Thank you, Immortal, for your immense grace. I, Xia Zuowei, will never forget this debt for as long as I live."

Wudao chuckled, "It's not just about never forgetting for life, but you also said that as long as I helped you reconstruct your physical body inside the Soul Absorption Pearl, you would repay me by working like an ox or a horse in your next life. I don't need you to work like an ox or a horse, just serve as my underling for three years."

Xia Zuowei had no objections and hurriedly agreed.

Seeing this, the Serpent Lady chipped off a small piece of Spirit Stone and once again sculpted a physical body.

"Five hundred Merit Points can create a plain flesh body and you have a hundred and fifty points left. What kind of talent would you like?"

Xia Zuowei asked, "Can I see what talents are available?"

The Serpent Lady nodded and with a wave of her hand, a long list of available talents appeared before Xia Zuowei.

Xiao Buli thought to himself that there was even this function. Talents were ranked too, with good ones costing thousands of Merit Points, while the worst required only tens. With Xia Zuowei's one hundred and fifty points, he could almost pick a below-average talent.

After pondering for a while, he eventually pointed at one of the many talents, and Xiao Buli looked in that direction to see it was a talent called 'Dumb Luck'.

Dumb Luck (Talent Skill): A Passive Skill that increases your Luck Value by 5 points when you are in mortal danger.

It was a decent Life-Saving talent, where five points of Luck could play a significant role at a critical moment.

The Serpent Lady nodded, waved her hand once more, and a yellow light flashed over the physical body, which seemed unchanged.

"Is that it?" Xia Zuowei asked doubtfully.

The Serpent Lady glared at him, "Of course it's done. What else are you expecting?" After saying that, she used the Five-Colored Stone on Wudao, and a bunch of white strands of light were suddenly extracted from his soul until there was nothing left. "Okay, your Merit Points are paid. You can now enter your bodies."

Xia Zuowei hastily dived into his new body. It had been encased in a bubble shimmering with Streaming Light of five colors, which disappeared the moment he went in. With a thud, he fell to the ground and after a while, Xia Zuowei struggle to his feet.

"I'm alive? I'm alive! I AM ALIVE!!!" Xia Zuowei howled madly, his buttocks bare, while Wudao looked on shaking his head, then he too descended into his own body. He seemed much more adept at it; as the bubble disappeared, he landed steadily on the ground, stretched his limbs, and looked down at his impressive manhood and nodded with satisfaction. He muttered, "These Merit Points were not in vain."

Xiao Buli wondered to himself that it only took five hundred points to reconstruct a body--plain attributes, sure, but it was a life nonetheless. But why had Xuanxu Zi said one needed three thousand Merit Points for resurrection?

"Sister, what kind of body can be reconstructed with three thousand points?"

"Three thousand points?" The Serpent Lady paused, "Three thousand can sculpt an Immortal Spirit Body. Why do you ask?"

Xiao Buli realized that was the case, it seemed Xuanxu Zi truly was an Immortal. He then asked, "Besides mortals and Immortal Spirit Bodies, are there other types of bodies available?"

The Serpent Lady replied, "Of course, the power of the great Nuwa isn't something ordinary people can imagine. Any type of body can be reconstructed. However, if your Primordial Spirit doesn't match the body, they cannot be fused. So, as a mortal, it would be best not to think too much about it."

Xiao Buli nodded, "If one reconstructs their body, can they retain their previous Attributes, Skills, and Professions?"

The Serpent Lady shook her head, "Attributes are definitely not retained, but skills can be, although most will revert to LV1. Moreover, without sufficient attributes, they usually can't be used right away; you need to wait until your attributes are enough to execute them.

Also, forgotten skills can be relearned more easily, with proficiency increasing rapidly, but cognitive skills are not included in this; they can be fully retained."

Xiao Buli nodded, considering that resurrection using Merit Points wasn't without benefits—reducing all skills to LV1 would greatly weaken one's strength, but at least there wasn't the worry of dying outright. It seemed worthwhile to start accumulating more Merit Points for the future.

However, there was still one issue: if one could resurrect in the Nuwa Temple in the game, was there an equivalent in reality? And even if there was a Nuwa Temple, could one be sure it would function the same as in the game? It seemed necessary to verify this in the future.

He glanced at Wudao, who was chatting with Xia Zuowei—both stark naked. Suddenly, he noticed something; the name above Xia Zuowei's head was white, completely the same color as NPCs.
