Chapter 298: Stagnating.
"Is that figure the one we are looking for?" Amaryllis asked as soon as she sat next to Sasha with a curious look on her face.
"No, I don't believe so," Sasha shook her head. "I'm assuming, that being is just the guardian. If I can see that being again, I will do something about it," she continued and that was the reason why she wanted to go in again.
Sasha was lucky to meet that being once during her first try entering the storm. She hadn't seen that being again, but she believed if she managed to make a mess of the storm, that being would come to see her again.
"The storm is going back to normal again," Elena said as she observed the storm. "Not only that, don't you think the storm is getting bigger and fiercer?" she asked with her eyebrows raised and took a few steps back from the storm.
"Well, we poked the lion and annoyed him," Amaryllis said with her eyebrows raised. "Let's see if I can do something about this," she added as she walked toward the storm.
Amaryllis still hadn't found out the fundamentals of the abyss, but after she went into the storm countless times, she could hold a grasp of the power. She put her right hand into the storm, and she tried to track the source of the power behind the storm, just like how she managed to manipulate Mykel's power.
She was sucked into the storm and Thanks to the time that seemed to move slowly inside, she could start searching. She had become strong enough to withstand the storm, and the fact she couldn't feel pain made it easier for her.
Thanks to Elena's life energy that coated around her body, she could last longer inside. She didn't hesitate to try and manipulate the abyss and tried to track the source of the power.
When she was so busy tracking the abyss, she was unaware of her surroundings because she was too focused on one thing. She didn't realize the source that she was looking for was standing behind her, and when she noticed it, it was already too late.
Amaryllis' clone opened her eyes and then looked at the three of them as she nodded her head, approving Sasha's words.
"I believe if anyone tried to manipulate the storm, the being who created it would come and kill them," Amaryllis pointed out. "I couldn't sense him at all, and the fact that he was right behind me while I was searching for him, he's too powerful," she added and looked at Mykel.
"No, he's not that powerful," Mykel shook his head. "All we have to do is to get in there together and make sure we're not separated from each other so we can hunt him down," he explained and put his hand inside the storm.
"Based on what we know, only Sasha and Amy can manipulate the power. Mykel and I couldn't do it, so it's either Sasha or Amy should become the bait," Elena looked at Sasha and Amaryllis. "But I need to adapt to it first. I'm too weak, and I'm not prepared for that," she pointed out.
"The bigger the storm, the harder for us to find him. It's better if we don't piss him off and just do it normally," Mykel said as he looked at his hand that was covered in cuts.
They all nodded with understanding and then Elena and Mykel went inside together to try something new.
The storm was getting bigger and bigger knowing there were threats that could breach the storm. But that wasn't a problem and it was a good thing for Elena since she could progress even faster to adapt to the storm.
Mykel on the other hand, he started to feel the hunger inside him grow and how it bothered him. He didn't tell the others about it because it was bothersome and he found it unnecessary. He would rather focus on the storm and how to reach the eye, the center of the storm where the truth lies.
A few decades had passed, and nobody knew how many times they had entered the storm. One thing they noticed was the storm had become a hundred times wider and bigger than last time. The good news was Sasha, Elena, and Amaryllis could withstand the storm for more than half an hour.

"Mykel is stagnating..." Sasha frowned when she looked at Mykel who seemed frustrated. "He was the one who could withstand the storm the longest, but now he's the first to come out," she said with a worried expression.
"He's not just stagnating, he's not even progressing at all even after decades of doing this," Amaryllis pointed out. "Something isn't right, and I think you should speak to him, Elena," she glanced at Elena who was resting after she had lost most of her life energy.
Elena was as pale as a corpse while she was lying on the ground, and then she looked at Mykel. She immediately stood up even though she could barely see because of how blurry her vision was. She went straight to where Mykel was, smoking his cigarette as he stared at the storm.
"Mykel, can I rest on your lap?" Elena asked with her messy hair that covered half of her face.
"Come here," Mykel nodded.
Elena rested her head on Mykel's lap and faced his stomach as she wrapped her arms around his waist. She didn't say anything, but she noticed the power within Mykel got weaker. She found out that Mykel wasn't stagnating, he was in fact progressing, but his power got a lot weaker than before.
"You're hungry," Elena pointed out as she hid her face by pressing it on Mykel's stomach. "Is that why you're so frustrated?" she asked.
"This is the cost of my power. I need to devour all forms of life to maintain the power and make it stronger," Mykel answered as he stroked Elena's hair. "Unlike Sasha who possesses both powers and makes them coexist, she has no problem even with the same power that I have," he added and noticed both Sasha and Amaryllis were watching them, knowing his issue with the power.
"Are you trying to comfort me?" Mykel teased with a chuckle.
Elena was flustered and suddenly she pushed Mykel down as she crawled on top of his body. She was sitting on top of him and stared into his eyes with a cold gaze to hide her embarrassment.
"Am I not allowed?" Elena asked back with a cold expression. "I want this to be over so we can live normally like back then. I'm tired of this, and I know you too. Am I not allowed to help you so we can get this through?" she added with her eyebrows furrowed.
Mykel stared back and he knew about that already, but there was nothing left that he could devour. The abyss didn't want Elena's power since it harmed the abyss rather than satiating it. Sasha couldn't give hers since she needed it to keep the balance inside her. Amaryllis wasn't a living being and eating her would be for nothing.
"Don't think, just close your eyes," Elena said as she leaned her head toward Mykel's face.
Before Mykel could understand what Elena meant, he was kissed and he was so confused until he felt the warmth inside his mouth. The warmth went down to his throat and it spread all over his body, and somehow the hunger was lessened.
Mykel felt the coldness on Elena's body, and he immediately pushed Elena's face away from him. She looked paler than before, and she could barely stay awake after she gave her life energy to him. He wondered how her life energy was accepted by the abyss and didn't throw it away like last time.
"I can be normal if I want to. My life energy can be harmless and passive at the same time. As long as I do that, you won't be starving," Elena said with a weak smile and then rested her head on Mykel's chest and fell asleep.
Mykel let Elena sleep on his chest, and then he looked at his hands in disbelief. The energy that Elena gave him was a lot more than the souls he devoured from sextillions of souls. He wondered how pure Elena's life energy was that it could satisfy his hunger.
"Good night, Elena," Mykel said as he stroked Elena's hair.
"Good night," Elena answered weakly even though she was asleep earlier.
