Hong Meiling Sleepwalks Through the Heavens

Seeing a green-clothed girl suddenly appearing in the battlefield caused great confusion to both Hidden Eddy and the enemy ninja coalition.

What creeped them out was the fact that none of them could sense any chakra from her.

What the- is this a civilian girl wandering into the battlefield?

No. Civilians can’t be that fast! She’s running faster than most ninjas!

Despite the confusion, the enemy ninjas leapt straight towards Meiling.

No matter her alignment, she must be killed. Even if she is innocent, there is still a chance that she’s part of the enemy.

A ninja phased in front of Meiling, unsheathing his katana and slashed towards her.

Judging from his forehead protector, he must be an ordinary ninja from a small village!

Meiling easily ducked from the slash, then swung upwards in a swift, violent uppercut, hitting him square in the chest and killing him instantly.

In terms of physical strength, Meiling guessed that she was about as strong as Rock Lee. If he was here, that ninja would’ve instantly died too.

Witnessing their comrade falling, the other ninjas immediately leapt in, surrounding her with trepidation.

However, the ninjas who surrounded her were weak ninjas, and Meiling wanted to deal with somebody her own size – Sandaime Mizukage!

“Yellow Quake Kick!”

Yelling as she raised her right foot, she stomped straight towards the ground.

The earth began to pulse violently from where she stomped, spreading across the ground like an earthquake that knocked all of the ninjas around her down.

Seeing that Meiling was becoming a problem, a jōnin landed right next to her.

“Fire Release: Flame Shuriken!”

The jōnin from the Hidden Mist Village shot out a fiery shuriken after a quick incantation.

Although Hidden Mist ninjas are proficient in water releases, they are able to cast fire releases as well.

This fire release is somewhat similar to a normal fireball, albeit much thinner and faster.

Looking at the flaming shuriken whizzing towards her, she held her breath and concentrated on it. Just as the shuriken was about to slice through her, she got into a stance and punched forward with great power.

“Red Cannon!”

Dazzling red qi enveloped Meiling’s fist in an instant as she punched the shuriken, shattering it into pieces. Sparks scattered across the ground, staining it black from its embers.

Seeing this, the jōnin’s pupils shrank. He never expected a mere punch to destroy his shuriken.

However, just as he was about to accept death, Meiling simply turned around and ran towards Sandaime Mizukage.

“S-she’s after Lord Sandaime Mizukage!” he gasped.

Of course, he felt as if it was his duty to stop her. Although he was confident his Lord was able to deal with her, but he cannot allow anyone to approach his Lord at will.

The jōnin chased after Meiling, drawing his katana as he chased her.

“Fire Release: Fire Blade!”

The jōnin held his katana tightly in his right hand and formed a seal on the other hand, imbuing his blade with blazing flames.

He pursued in Meiling’s tracks closely, and the distance between the two were getting closer and closer; to slow her down, he began launching kunai towards her.

Sensing danger, Meiling immediately ducked behind a tree as the kunai whizzed past her. Taking a deep breath, she huffed as her advance towards her target was hindered.

The jōnin turned the corner and raised his flaming katana above his head, slashing towards Meiling.

However, Meiling twisted and twirled her body, avoiding imminent death. Landing on her two feet, she slid forward and performed a devastating uppercut to the jōnin’s cheek.

“Roc Fist!”

This move of hers condenses all of her strength towards her hand, and with a single punch, the jōnin’s cheekbones were immediately reduced to dust, launching his body across the sky like a cannonball.

The jōnin was still alive – barely; as he landed harshly on the floor, he found that he could barely even breathe properly.

Meiling wiped a drop of sweat from her forehead. She deliberately lured the jōnin to chase after her, then took the opportunity to mortally wound him to teach him a lesson.

Do you really think you can catch up to me? You only did because I let you!

Turning around, she continued her pursuit of Sandaime Mizukage.

The other enemy ninjas tried to chase after her, but most of them were stopped by Hidden Eddy’s ninjas.

The Hidden Eddy ninjas had no idea who this green-clothed, red-haired girl was, but they all had the collective thought of: “The enemy of enemy is my friend!”

Plus, they were internally astonished at how this girl with seemingly no chakra was able to easily subdue ninjas and mortally wound a jōnin. In any case, having such a powerful ally is great news for Hidden Eddy Village.

They could see that her target was clearly Sandaime Mizukage. If he dies, or at least, is severely injured, the collective morale and power will drastically reduce.

Therefore, the Hidden Eddy ninjas operated in silent understanding of Meiling’s tactics, and tried their best to stop the other ninjas from intercepting her.

Inevitably, some fish will slip through the net, but Meiling easily dealt with them with a simple punch or a kick.

Soon, Meiling reached her destination.

She watched as Sandaime Mizukage and Ashina Uzumaki fought against each other. Ashina continued launching his adamantine chains towards him, imbuing the chains with fire; Sandaime Mizukage, on the other hand, casted various water releases to counteract the chains and fire, and with each pillar of water he casts, the closer the pillars seem to get to Ashina.

Looking closer, it seems like Ashina was faltering in his attacks. He seemingly had a cut on his right rib, which was caused by a water shuriken that was unexpectedly launched from a pillar of water.

The battle was beginning to look unfavorable for Ashina. His advances were faltering, and Sandaime Mizukage was still very healthy.

Ashina Uzumaki’s defeat is only a matter of time.

Scattered around their battlefield were corpses of other ninjas. Meiling guessed that they were immediately killed by Sandaime Mizukage if they tried to intervene and help Ashina.

My turn now.

Sandaime Mizukage scoffed as he saw a random girl coming up to fight him, and immediately launched a highly pressurized waterspout towards her.

As the spear of water was heading towards her, Meiling stomped on the ground and entered a stance.

“Water Taichi Fist!”

Meiling directed the flow of her qi to her fists, forming a dazzling vortex of qi in front of her as it began absorbing the deadly waterspout.

Swirling the vortex on her fingertips, she did a twirl and directed the vortex to  launch the waterspout back towards Sandaime Mizukage.

Sandaime Mizukage was visibly dazed at this. What sorcery is this? How can this girl possibly fire a water release at me?

However, he didn’t let his shock consume him. He immediately casted another water release, spraying torrents of water from his mouth to disperse the waterspout launching back towards him.

As the water curtain dissipated in front of him, a girl-in-green seemingly phased right behind the shower of water.

And just as the Third Mizukage dispersed the waterspout, Misuzu quickly rushed in front of it.

“Sky Dragon Kick!”

Meiling redirected her qi to her feet, launching herself through the falling rain like a dragon out of the sea.

Just as her kick was about to connect with his body, he vanished into thin air. Immediately, she looked around, and Sandaime Mizukage appeared about seven or eight meters away.

Teleportation… Meiling grumbled as she landed back on the ground. As expected of the Kage.

Meiling may be fast, but compared to instant teleportation, it falls very, very short.

Meiling wasn’t the only one fighting Sandaime Mizukage, however. Ashina immediately launched more chains towards him. He did not intend on giving him any breathing room.

Although the girl’s identity was unclear to Ashina, if she is fighting alongside him, there is no reason for Ashina to refuse cooperation.

Plus, she had already proved her strength in two moves. If the both of them work together, they might be able to take Sandaime Mizukage down and turn the tides of the battle!
