I Became a Goblin Ancestor

Chapter 26 - The Gold Flow Team's Ancestor, Ravina(2)

Na Tae-hyun, the Gold Flow Team leader who had sent a message to the General Management Team this morning, was wiping his sweaty hands while waiting for guests on the first floor of the Gold Flow Team’s tower.

“I’m so nervous I could die…”

Perhaps it was his mood, but even his glasses seemed to be nervous and slipping.

With his sturdy physique and not being sensitive to heat, Tae-hyun usually didn’t sweat much, but today was different.

“To think I really sent such a semi-threatening message to the General Management Team…!”

The message sent to the General Management Team under the coercive order of Ravina, his ancestor and the Queen of Succubi.

Originally, Tae-hyun had never touched the General Management Team carelessly unless it was an official occasion.

After all, there was nothing he could gain by touching the General Management Team.

Moreover, even if he touched them at official occasions, it was only to the level of testing the waters to vent the frustration built up usually, not to touch them severely.

Therefore, normally when Tae-hyun had business with the General Management Team, he always went to visit them directly.

But today, under Ravina’s orders, he called the General Management Team’s leader and exclusive hunter here, so he couldn’t help but be nervous.

“No, before that, are they even coming?”

Would they even come when he spoke in such a semi-threatening way in the first place?

Rather, he couldn’t imagine the General Management Team coming here, even if he sent another message telling them not to make a fuss as the Gold Flow Team.

“But if I can’t bring them, she said she’d punish me…”

However, if they didn’t come, the only future left for Tae-hyun was receiving ‘punishment’ from Ravina.

At that terrible ‘punishment’ that he didn’t even want to imagine, Tae-hyun couldn’t imagine it, but he hoped the General Management Team would come.

Thump– Thump–

“…!!”

Surprisingly, Tae-hyun’s wish, which he thought wouldn’t come true, became reality.

The sound of two sets of footsteps heard from the direction of the Gold Flow Team tower’s door.

And when he raised his head, the owners of the footsteps were none other than Lee Yeon-ah, the General Management Team’s leader to whom he had sent the message, and Shin-yeon, the General Management Team’s exclusive hunter.

‘Th-they really came…?’

To think they would really come when he thought it impossible?

Tae-hyun had thought Yeon-ah would never move her heavy bottom, but seeing them come so easily, he gathered his wits that were about to leave for a moment.

‘Get a grip!’

Although their coming was beyond expectation, it was what he had hoped for, and since it had become reality, he shouldn’t show a strange appearance and be looked down upon.

After all, Tae-hyun himself was clearly the leader of the Gold Flow Team serving Ravina as their ancestor.

And therefore, Tae-hyun greeted the two who had approached him as lightly as possible and started leading the way first.

“Thank you for coming as requested. Ravina-nim is waiting upstairs. Please follow me quickly.”

Since Ravina had taken an aggressive stance, he as the team leader needed to match that.

Tae-hyun, holding back tears, began acting in front of Yeon-ah and Shin-yeon.

An act that would at least call for a not-so-positive future.

The Gold Flow Team’s ancestor, Ravina, who had introduced himself as Na Tae-hyun.

I and Yeon-ah quietly followed behind him as he started leading the way first.

As we quietly followed behind him like that, perhaps because Yeon-ah’s face was well-known as expected of the General Management Team’s leader, I let out an admiring sigh at the sight of the surrounding humans becoming quiet like on the street when I first met Yeon-ah.

-Wait a minute… Isn’t that person the General Management Team leader…?
-Why did Lee Yeon-ah come here? Did the team leader get in trouble again?
-Isn’t that little one next to her that exclusive hunter?

Small whispers could be heard in the heavily descended silence.

Most were whispers of fear or wariness towards Lee Yeon-ah, while some exchanged questions and answers about me.

At that, I barely swallowed the smile that was about to form involuntarily.

After all, how could I not smile when Yeon-ah and her General Management Team, who took such meticulous care of me, were so highly regarded?

But soon after we boarded the elevator that had arrived, the whispers from around us were abruptly cut off, and I could only smack my lips in regret.

However, no sooner had I swallowed my regret than the elevator started moving at a rapid speed.

Whoosh– Ding–!

The elevator, which started ascending at a speed no less than that of the General Management Team’s elevator, soon reached the top floor of the tower.

Eventually, Tae-hyun, who had gotten off the elevator when the doors opened, began walking with firm steps.

Tae-hyun stopped in front of an ominous-looking purple door and turned to us with his hands behind his back, saying:

“We’ve arrived. This is the room where our ancestor, Ravina-nim, is. Knock before entering.”
“…Well, well, has the world finally gone mad? To think you’d dare to take such a high-handed attitude in front of me.”
“Enter quickly. Ravina-nim has permitted Lee Yeon-ah team leader’s companion to enter as well, so you can go in together.”

Perhaps Tae-hyun’s attitude was so ridiculous, Yeon-ah glared at him while letting out an exasperated sigh.

And this time, I strongly agreed with Yeon-ah’s words.

I had already researched a bit on the internet and received direct explanations from Yeon-ah, so I was well aware of the hierarchy among the Five Major Powers of the defense city.

In that hierarchy, the position occupied by the Gold Flow Team was third, following the General Management Team and the Punishment Team.

As such, the Gold Flow Team was originally in a position where they couldn’t even make a peep to the General Management Team.

Even the Punishment Team was in a position where they had to tread carefully around the General Management Team, so how could the Gold Flow Team dare to confront the General Management Team?

But look at the way Tae-hyun in front of us is speaking now.

A tone as if he were a superior to Yeon-ah, whom he normally wouldn’t even be able to easily speak to first.

His attitude of sticking out his belly as if he knew a secret that only the Punishment Team knew was truly ridiculous and infuriating.

‘But it seems he doesn’t know that I’m a goblin…’

However, contrary to such an attitude, Tae-hyun unexpectedly didn’t seem to know that I was the General Management Team’s ancestor.

That’s because when Tae-hyun called me an exclusive hunter, he didn’t show any signs of lying.

If that’s the case, then Tae-hyun’s attitude must be entirely because of Ravina, the Gold Flow Team’s ancestor.

It must be either Ravina’s order or an attempt to align with her.

Because of this, I approached the purple door without hesitation and knocked, then opened the door and entered before an answer could be heard from inside.

Clank—!

“Hey, you…!”
“Let’s go in, Team Leader Yeon-ah.”
“Yes, let’s go in.”

My action that would seem extremely impertinent to Tae-hyun.

Therefore, Tae-hyun seemed about to point out my behavior, but before he could finish his words, I entered the room with Yeon-ah.

Bang—!

Tae-hyun’s cry was drowned out by the sound of the door closing behind us.

And in the silence where no sound could be heard, perhaps because the room was well soundproofed, I gave a thumbs up to Yeon-ah who had matched my act with just one line.

“You have good instincts? Well done.”
“It seemed that fellow didn’t know Shin-yeon-nim was our ancestor. Your quick judgment was excellent as well, ancestor.”

It was the tone I had put on because Tae-hyun completely thought of me as an exclusive hunter, but fortunately, Yeon-ah matched my words without hesitation and came inside.

As expected, Yeon-ah was second only to Hwa-gon in being quick-witted about me.

Thanks to that, we were able to give Tae-hyun, who had been uncharacteristically arrogant, a taste of his own medicine as we entered, so it was truly a satisfying situation.

But just as I was praising Yeon-ah like that, suddenly an affected voice interrupted our conversation:

“Surely you must have come after hearing what I said, but to open and close the door without my permission, and to ignore me, the owner of this place, while talking to your subordinate… You really lack manners~”

When I turned my head towards the direction the voice came from, what I saw was a pink-haired girl looking down at us from a red bed on top of low stairs.

The girl was fluttering short wings and a black heart-shaped tail, and she was lying on her side with her arm propped up, staring at me and Yeon-ah with bewitching purple eyes.

Then the dreamlike lighting that made her even more sensual.

Since she was the only one present in this room besides us, it was obvious without needing to say who she was.

“You must be that Ravina or whatever?”
“Hmm? Now that I look closely, it’s not that you lack manners, but that you have none at all? But well… Yes, I am Ravina, the ancestor of the Gold Flow Team, a succubus.”

Ravina, the pink-haired girl, snorted and smirked while nodding at my question.

I had thought she would surely add some unnecessary words given that she had called us with such a semi-threatening message, but surprisingly, Ravina got straight to the point without beating around the bush.

“I assume you came because you already knew… Shin-yeon, was it? I saw you that day. Thanks to that, I also found out that you’re the General Management Team’s ancestor who was said to be sleeping.”
“……”
“But fortunately, I know~ I haven’t told anyone in the Gold Flow Team yet. In other words, I’m the only one in the Gold Flow Team who knows this fact.”

As Ravina said, we had already realized the information the moment we heard the postscript she had added.

That Ravina knew my identity, that is, that I was an ancestor.

And with that one fact, Ravina was taking the attitude of an alpha as if she held everything about us in her hands.

However, if you looked at it in a certain way, it was half true that she held everything about us.

Because the moment Ravina revealed my identity to the world, all sorts of dirty waves would crash upon the General Management Team, starting from the slums in this defense city to all over the world.

The General Management Team, which could be said to be ranked 1st or 2nd in the world for its strength.

If it was revealed that I was the ancestor of such a General Management Team, it was clear that filth calling themselves by various names would cling to the General Management Team trying to ‘steal genes’.

And as this fact was clear, Yeon-ah beside me spoke to Ravina with an angry voice.

“So, are you trying to blackmail us with that now?”
“Yes, that’s right. It’s blackmail. I’m going to use this as leverage to shake up your General Management Team a bit.”
“…Surely there must be a promise made between the Five Major Powers!”

Yeon-ah shouted loudly, finally unable to hold back at Ravina’s brazen eye smile.

The tacit promise that exists between the Five Major Powers.

Because there was a high possibility that the Five Major Powers could know each other’s races, they made a rule to protect each other’s identities of who their ancestors were and made a promise about this.

The reason why the General Management Team, which is the only one that knows all the ancestors of the Five Major Powers, is maintaining secrecy is also because of this promise and the necessity of each of the Five Major Powers.

But now that Ravina had declared that she would easily break such a promise, Yeon-ah had no choice but to get angry from her position.

However, to Yeon-ah’s outcry, Ravina simply replied with a laugh full of mischief.

“That’s why I’m saying I’ll break that and use you. The Punishment Team has probably been keeping their promise because they’ve been in a symbiotic relationship with you for quite a long time… But is there any need for us, the Gold Flow Team, who haven’t even tasted the sweetness of the General Management Team, to keep it?”
“If you’re going to break the rules, we’ll announce to the whole world that you’re the Gold Flow Team’s ancestor. If that happens, won’t both sides suffer immense damage?”
“Hahaha! The ancestor of the General Management Team, which competes for the world’s 1st place ranking, and me, the ancestor of the Gold Flow Team, which can’t even enter the top 50. If both are revealed at the same time, which side do you think will suffer greater damage?”
“Kuh…!”

Grind—

Yeon-ah’s teeth ground fiercely, unable to refute Ravina’s words.

At that sound, Ravina raised her voice tone even higher, as if more pleased, and said:

“Moreover, isn’t it the General Management Team that’s called the head of the defense city, and our Gold Flow Team that’s just one of the pillars? For me, even if the Gold Flow Team collapses, it’s quite easy to make a comeback.”
“But if you end up getting caught…”
“Ahahahaha!! Have you forgotten what my race is? Succubus, monma? No matter how great those guys are, they’ll eventually have to give up on capturing me, right?”

As Ravina said, the General Management Team and the Gold Flow Team were different in weight from the start.

Add to that the confidence in her own race that she would be safe even if filth came rushing at her.

In the end, even if we tried to commit mutual destruction, only our side would suffer damage.

At this unchangeable fact, the air in the room was filled contrastingly with Ravina’s laughter and Yeon-ah’s frustration.

Ravina bursting into laughter as if happy, and Yeon-ah swallowing saliva with her dried mouth.

But Ravina’s laughter didn’t last long.

“Ah, but you know.”

Suddenly, after her laughter was cut off unnaturally with a ‘tsk’, Ravina’s chilling voice echoed.

“Now that the positions have changed, isn’t it a bit much for a mere General Management Team leader to stand in front of me so impudently?”
“What are you saying…”
“I’m telling you to kneel down. Right now.”

At Ravina’s ‘order’, Yeon-ah clenched her fists with a face flushed with anger.

However, Ravina’s eyes, which were staring at Yeon-ah with an inorganic gaze to match her still chilling voice.

In that gaze was quietly cast down the original charisma of the Queen of Succubi, a race that had been oppressed by the supreme power called the General Management Team until now.

The overwhelming presence of one queen dominating this space.

To this, Yeon-ah finally had no choice but to slowly kneel down, swallowing a groan.

“I’m, sorry…”

“What are you kneeling for. Get up right now.”

Of course.

She was immediately pulled up by my hand.

“Huh?”

Letting out a short sound of not understanding the situation, Yeon-ah was pulled up with her nape in my grasp.

And at my action, Ravina frowned as if displeased, to which I slung Hwa-gon, which I had been letting hang, over my shoulder and said to Yeon-ah:

“You serve me as your ancestor, so how can you kneel to someone like that. Stand still right there.”
“Seeing you act like that, it seems you really…”
“You, shut that mouth for a bit.”

Ravina tried to say something at my arbitrary behavior, but before she could finish her words, I cut her off.

At this, Ravina’s eyebrows rose even higher.

With an expression clearly showing her anger, Ravina finally got up from the bed she had been lying on, and I too moved my feet that had been stuck to the spot, looking at Ravina who had stood up.

“You know, since earlier, the way you’ve been acting like you’re the king just because you found out my identity as an ancestor has been quite annoying.”

One step, one step, I climbed the stairs towards the bed where Ravina was standing.

Along with this, the pressure emanating from me pushed away the overwhelming presence of Ravina that had been oppressing the surroundings.

“I was going to observe the situation and move accordingly… but when you casually touch a precious human under my command like that, I can’t just stand by.”

And Ravina looking down at me like that, still with an angry expression.

Thud–

But the moment I climbed the last step of the stairs, Ravina could no longer look down on me, and the eye level between her and me became equal.

Eventually, when I approached to within one step’s distance from her, Ravina wrapped her cold-feeling hands around my neck in the blink of an eye.

And in response, I too aimed Hwa-gon at Ravina’s neck.

Immediately after, after a moment of silence, I continued the words I had momentarily cut off.

“Shall we see if you can still talk about me being an ancestor after your head is turned to mush?”
“Haha! I wonder who’s going to die first here?”
“Who knows? At least I don’t think it’ll be me, that’s why I’m saying this.”

Our gazes met at point-blank range, and we both glared at each other without backing down an inch.

A battle of wills taking place before the fight, but vicious killing intent already filled the surroundings, crackling as if the battle had already begun.

However, as the great chief of the Goblin Clan, I still had a last bit of mercy, so I extended a final chance to the Queen of Succubi aiming at my neck right in front of me.

“I’ll give you one last chance. Kneel down and beg for forgiveness right now. If you do, I’ll at least spare your life as a minimum courtesy.”
“Do you think I’ll accept that?”
“You’ll have to accept it.”

Perhaps there was no need for further answer, colorful lights slowly began to gather in Ravina’s wings that had spread wide.

Seeing that appearance undeniably preparing for battle, I turned to look at Yeon-ah standing quietly behind me and sent her a look.

“……”

Yeon-ah gave a small nod to my look asking if it was okay to fight.

“I waited because I thought it would end as soon as it started, but are you ready now?”

As I no longer had anything to hold back, I threw that question at Ravina in front of me with a leisurely sneer.

There was no reason for either side to hold back anymore, nor even the thought to do so.

Therefore, the clash between me and Ravina, who had been in a tense standoff, happened in an instant.

“Are you prepared?”
“I’ll kill you right here!”

Keeeeeeeng—!!!

A huge resonance occurred as my lightning and Ravina’s beam collided simultaneously upon being fired.

Immediately after, at the massive explosion that blew away the top floor of the Gold Flow Team tower.

The atmosphere vibrated violently.
