I Didn’t Mean to Kill the Heroine

Ch 01 - Trapped in a Villainess' Fate

Episode 1: Trapped in a Villainess’ Fate
A Dark Awakening

The first thing I noticed was the sharp, metallic scent of iron.

In the dimly lit room, faint streaks of light filtered through the intricate stained glass windows. My head throbbed as confusion set in.

‘I was definitely sleeping in my studio…’

My vision was blurry, and as I tried to adjust, I saw a woman standing before me, dressed in an elegant gown. Something about her seemed lifeless, almost doll-like.

Then, a chilling realization hit me—a weight in my hand. A cold, long object pressed against my palm. A warm, sticky liquid trickled down my fingers.

My senses sharpened, and the haze in my mind lifted.

‘What was I doing just now?’

A sudden flash of lightning illuminated the room. My breath hitched as I took in the horrifying scene.

“Whoa!”

The woman before me collapsed, as if her strings had been cut. Her bloodied face, lifeless green eyes, and the sword piercing through her abdomen sent a wave of terror crashing over me.

I turned to a reflective surface on the wall. But the person staring back at me… wasn’t me.

Instead, a stunning woman with eerie red eyes and dark hair stood in my place.

“Ha… Haha… Is this a dream?” My trembling voice barely formed the words.

I slapped my cheeks—hard. The stinging pain confirmed what I feared.

This wasn’t a dream.

A Nightmare Possession

If someone had told me I would wake up as a character in a novel, I might have been thrilled. After all, who doesn’t fantasize about escaping their mundane life?

But what if that character was a notorious villainess? And worse—what if I had been possessed after she had already committed a crime?

“Huff… Huff…”

I didn’t know how I escaped that place. I just ran, stumbling through the heavy rain, my breath coming in short gasps.

The horrifying image of the scene I left behind played in my mind. I recognized the woman I had—no, Amelita had—attacked.

Peridot. The heroine of Saint Peridot.

And if she was Peridot, then that meant…

I was Amelita—the infamous villainess who tried to kill the protagonist and met a tragic end.

Kroooom—BOOM!

Thunder roared as I ran blindly through the dark forest. My foot caught on something, and I tumbled forward, hitting the cold, wet ground.

Pain shot through my knees. Rain pelted down, sending shivers through my body.

“What… What is this?” I sobbed, clutching my head in frustration.

This wasn’t supposed to happen.

If I had possessed Amelita before the crime, I could have changed things. But now? The deed was already done.

And I had no memories of Amelita’s past. No knowledge of her motivations or what had led to this point.

I was utterly lost.

A Faint Hope

As I sat there, drenched and trembling, a strange sensation buzzed from my robe. My heart leaped.

‘A phone? No way…’

I frantically searched my pockets, but instead of a phone, my fingers grasped a folded piece of paper.

Unfolding it, I found intricate symbols scrawled across the surface.

‘A magic scroll?’

It must have been something important—something meant for an emergency.

Without thinking, I tore the paper apart.

A blinding light engulfed me, forcing my eyes shut.

‘Please…’

A New Reality

The next morning, I woke up in a luxurious powder room.

Elegant maids surrounded me, presenting glimmering jewels.

“What hair accessory would you like today, Miss?”

“The finest pink diamond necklace arrived this morning. Would you like to try it?”

“How about this ruby collection? It matches your eyes beautifully.”

I barely heard them. What use were jewels when my life was on the line?

I looked into the mirror and met the piercing red eyes of Amelita.

Last night’s scroll had transported me back to her room. In a daze, I had burned the blood-stained clothes, instinctively erasing the evidence.

But no matter what I did…

I was still Amelita.

This wasn’t a dream. There was no way back.

A bitter realization settled in my heart.

‘Why did I have to be possessed in this story? Of all people, why Amelita?’

I clenched my fists, suppressing the scream rising in my throat.

This was only the beginning of my nightmare.
