Chapter 7 - Garp’s Special Training!
Chapter 7: Garp’s Special Training!
Spring turned to autumn, and in the blink of an eye, seven years passed by.
Foosha Village, Mt. Colubo…
Boom! Boom!
The ground trembled violently as a massive creature slowly emerged. It was a bull-like beast, but its size was nearly ten times that of an ordinary cow. Even elephants on Earth would seem small in comparison. Yet, the enormous creature was unconscious, dragged across the ground, leaving a deep furrow in its wake—by a small figure.
“Hey, Dadan! Look what I caught! Time for a feast!” Ace laughed loudly, calling out.
But Dadan stood frozen in place, cold sweat dripping down her face. Standing before her, grinning like a devil, was none other than— “You’ve done a fine job raising Ace, Dadan.”
A chill ran down Dadan’s spine as she stiffened instinctively. “O-Of course! It’s my duty, Vice Admiral Garp!” She stood at attention like a Marine recruit.
“Huh? That old geezer’s here? You better not steal my meat!” Ace wrinkled his nose as he approached the house, seeing Garp and the trembling Dadan. “Call me Grandpa! You brat! You’re polite to everyone else, but treat your grandpa like this?!”
Garp’s grin twisted into irritation. “They don’t try to steal my food, old man,” Ace shot back.
Why should I call Garp “Grandpa” when the guy is the same age as my so-called father, Gol D. Roger? That is just Garp taking advantage! Besides, in the past seven years, Garp has frequently shown up—only to swipe my prey.
“Oh, don’t sweat the small stuff! By the way, nice catch! Hahaha!” Instead of feeling guilty, Garp laughed heartily while inspecting the beast Ace had hunted. To think he’s already this strong… Garp thought silently. Despite his carefree nature, he had held off on putting Ace through his usual hellish training at a young age. Yet Ace, without any external guidance, had already developed a monstrous strength far beyond his years.
A rare talent indeed… Garp sighed inwardly.
“Let’s eat, Dadan!” Ace interrupted Garp’s thoughts and called out excitedly. “Forget the feast! Your grandpa is on vacation, and I’m gonna train you properly! You’ll become a great Marine! Hahaha!”
Garp suddenly grabbed Ace, roaring with laughter.
“A Marine? No way.” Ace scowled in disgust. Raising the bloodline of the Pirate King to become a Marine was a crazy thought only a man like Garp would consider. Besides, Marines were shackled by the World Government. Even if one became an Admiral, they were still lackeys forced to protect the Celestial Dragons. Ace had no interest in serving under anyone.

In the One Piece world, he vowed to be a pirate.
“WHAT?! You little brat! Looks like I need to properly teach you about the greatness of the Marines!”
Garp, enraged by Ace’s attitude, slung him over his shoulder and stomped toward his ship. “Dadan! I’ll bring him back in a month!” As Ace and Garp disappeared, Dadan watched them leave with a worried expression.

“Oi! Where are you taking me, old man?!” Two days into the voyage, Ace sat cross-armed on Garp’s ship, fuming. “Call me Grandpa!” Garp yelled, then smirked. “We’re heading to an uninhabited island, Ace. Try not to die there, hahaha!” His laughter rang out across the deck.
“Oh? We’re already here.”
Garp pointed ahead, revealing a small island on the horizon. Even from afar, ferocious beastly roars echoed across the sea. Clearly, the island wasn’t home to ordinary wildlife.
“Tch, just a jungle filled with some overgrown animals. But I will need my hot bath at night.”
Ace clicked his tongue at Garp’s shameless grin. Ever since Rouge’s dying wish, nightly hot baths had become an unbreakable habit for him.
“Don’t worry about the bath. And as for ordinary beasts? You’ll see soon enough. This island doesn’t just have animals.”
Garp’s grin turned even more sinister. Reaching into the ship, he pulled out two massive fishing rods. “Before I throw you into the jungle, let’s go fishing first!” He chuckled ominously.
