100% Assassination If I Do It Openly

Chapter 3: Title Unlocked – Nightmare of the Demon Lambs

"In the world of Divine Genesis, joining a guild is crucial."

Damian set down the stack of notes and fell deep into thought.

"Guilds control access to high-level dungeons, act as key trading channels, and are essential for crafting and enhancing equipment. Being part of a good guild makes everything much easier."

However, he knew there were limitations.

"Newbie areas have level caps, and guilds primarily operate in the main cities beyond the starter zones." He sighed. "It's not realistic to join one right now."

If Damian were to reveal his SSS-level talent, even the most prestigious five-star guilds would clamor to recruit him. But an undeveloped player with no influence possessing such a rare talent? That would make him a target for envy and malice.

What's more, while [Absolute Execution] was undoubtedly powerful, its limitations made it easy to counter once its effects were known.

Damian chuckled dryly. "I picked the Assassin class for a reason. Broadcasting my talent? Not happening."

"If I can't rely on a guild early on, then the only option is to grow stronger on my own." His determination solidified. "Once I reach the main city with enough strength, joining a guild will be a breeze."

He flipped through Elena's handwritten guide, appreciating her effort. Unlike generic strategy guides available on the market, hers was personalized, filled with insights from her meticulous research.

According to the guide, his next goal was simple: keep hunting Demon Lambs.

These creatures, the lowest-level monsters at just Lv1, didn't offer much experience. However…

Killing 50 Demon Lambs would trigger a hidden event: a rare boss monster. Defeating this boss would reward him with a title.

Titles in Divine Genesis weren't just for show. While they could be displayed above a player's character to flex their achievements, each title also granted unique effects.

Obtaining this particular title would make it much easier for Damian to take on the next tier of monsters in the starter zone, increasing his leveling efficiency.

"Alright, that's the plan!" Damian grinned and stepped out of his room. "Elena, I'm going t—"

He stopped abruptly, lowering his voice and treading lightly. On the couch, Elena had fallen asleep, her head leaning to one side. Damian's face softened.

Quietly, he scooped her up and muttered under his breath, "Falling asleep without a blanket again."

As he gently placed her on his bed, her hand clutched his shoulder tightly. Her delicate face tensed, and she murmured faintly in her sleep.

"Damian… don't leave me…"

"I won't. I promise." Damian replied softly, his words instinctive.

Hearing his response, her expression eased, a small smile curling her lips. A string of drool slipped from the corner of her mouth as she mumbled:

"When I… get into the game… I'll stomp Damian… under my feet!"

Damian froze.

Without hesitation, he let go, letting her plop unceremoniously onto the bed.

"Thud!"

"Ahhh!" Elena jolted awake, looking around wildly. "What happened? What's going on?"

"Nothing," Damian replied with a saintly smile. "You were having a nightmare."

"Oh, that makes sense…" she murmured, still half-asleep. "No wonder Damian was there…" Turning over, she fell back asleep immediately.

Damian shook his head, both amused and exasperated. He tucked the blanket around her and left the room.

...

The next morning, after preparing breakfast for Elena and sending her off to school, Damian logged back into Divine Genesis.

When his eyes opened, he found himself in a bustling city styled after Western architecture.

This was the Starter City, the login point for all beginner players. Until he reached the next city and set a new spawn point, every login would return him here.

"Party looking for two more! Demon Lamb extermination team needs a healer!"

"Black Demon Wolf raid! Lv5 archers needed!"

"Buying loot! Paying 10% above market price!"

"Looking for a mentor! Must be handsome!"

The lively streets were filled with shouts and announcements from other players. Damian walked through the chaos calmly, ignoring the noise around him.

The loot-buying offer piqued his interest briefly, but Elena's guide had warned him about such deals. Buyers in the starter zones could be legitimate, or they could scam newcomers, outright stealing their items.

The starter zones were filled with traps.

After all, experienced players wouldn't fall for these tricks.

But new players? There was always a pitfall waiting for them.

Leaving the city behind, Damian returned to the same open fields he had explored the day before. A message appeared in his vision:

[Demon Lamb Fields]

The plains stretched endlessly, dotted with grazing Demon Lambs every few meters. Despite being hunted for years, there always seemed to be an endless supply of them.

"Time to get to work."

Damian unsheathed his starter dagger, a simple but reliable weapon.

"My name is Damian…"

[Congratulations! You have defeated the ferocious Demon Lamb (Lv1). Experience +5. No special drops this time.]

[Congratulations! You have…]

[Congratulations! You have leveled up to Lv3!]

"Fifty Demon Lambs. Done!" Damian clenched his fists in triumph, feeling the surge of power as his attributes increased with his new level. However, before he could fully savor the moment, the sky darkened ominously.

"Is it coming?" Damian tensed, scanning his surroundings.

Overhead, a small, ominous black cloud formed directly above him, no larger than a meter in diameter.

"Uh… this is new," Damian muttered, eyebrows furrowing.

"Boom!"

A bolt of lightning shot down from the cloud, striking the ground in front of him. As the cloud dissipated, a massive figure emerged from the impact point.

Standing three meters tall with jet-black fur, the boss monster glared at Damian with burning red eyes.

[Due to your defeat of 50 Demon Lambs, you have triggered the revenge of the Super Ferocious Beast: Black Demon Ram!]

"Damn, it even has a cutscene entrance?" Damian exclaimed, swallowing nervously. "That health pool is ridiculous!"

The Black Demon Ram charged toward him, its hatred for Damian evident in its eyes.

"Alright then…" Damian raised his dagger, a smirk playing on his lips.

"My name is Damian…"

"Boom!"

The massive ram collapsed in a single strike.
