A Different Doraemon World

Chapter 34: Extra 2: Nobita's Diary

Thursday… Year 2530.

Sorry, but there's no specific date. I don't even know what day it is today. Doraemon's spaceship doesn't have things like a calendar…

Ah, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Nobita, Nobi Nobita, a student from the year 2005. Yeah, you didn't mishear me—I'm from 2005, more than 500 years ago. I got here thanks to Doraemon's time machine… Ha, ha, sounds like something a delusional kid would say, right?

I don't know how you found this diary or if you can even understand what I'm writing. I don't know if you'll believe what I'm about to say, but I think I'll write it down while I still have the chance. It's a long story… but let's see. I'll try to summarize it.

My story begins on New Year's Day, when I was lying lazily in my room. Suddenly, a strange-looking robot popped out from my desk drawer…

And now, here I am, together with Kelly, Karen, Connie, Rim, Shizuka, and Doraemon. It's been weeks since we encountered that black hole. We are currently staying on Doraemon's spaceship. The spaceship is quite large—besides the control room, there's a row of rooms on the second floor where we stay.

Doraemon is often in the control room, working tirelessly to repair the ship and monitor the computer. He barely comes out to interact with us anymore. No matter how much I try to convince him to rest, it doesn't work. He even told me to stay outside and not disturb him. I don't know what to do about him… Luckily, Shizuka is here. She spends time in the control room with him, helping with small tasks. She told me to leave it to her—hopefully, she can talk some sense into him.

As for the others… how should I put it? Food and water aren't an issue since the spaceship can handle that, but everyone's mental state is terrible. They all seem exhausted and depressed. That's why I've been trying my best to lift their spirits, even cracking a few jokes.

But… my bad jokes only ended up making Connie angry. I can't blame her. Everyone is exhausted, and my lousy humor must have been unbearable. Not to mention, Connie has a short temper…

Rim asked me why I keep trying to make people laugh.

Karen asked me how I could still smile in this situation.

And Kelly asked me if I wasn't feeling hopeless.

I didn't know how to answer them.

I just wanted to do something—anything—for everyone. Throughout this whole journey, they've all protected me. I… I just wanted to do something for them in return.

Of course, I'm scared. But unlike everyone else here, I don't have any special skills or talents. The only thing I can do is smile and try to lighten the mood.

If I just broke down and despaired like everyone else, what would I even be anymore?

Before I realized it, I was crying.

Karen gently took off my glasses and wiped my tears. I didn't even notice when I started crying. Rim patted my shoulder in comfort, and Kelly… she smiled. It had been days since I last saw her smile.

She clapped her hands on her cheeks, then pulled me up, grinning:

"Come on, if even you're crying, this whole spaceship will feel even gloomier! Sorry for making you worry. Dammit, we need to be stronger than this! Alright, let's go drag Connie out of her room!"

In the end, thanks to everyone, Connie and I made up. She even got so excited that she dragged all of us into a karaoke session. Of course, the spaceship doesn't have an actual karaoke room, but it does have speakers, and the sound quality is amazing—well, it's futuristic Perjetësia technology, after all. The sound was way too good, to the point where we had no choice but to listen to Connie's singing… in HD.

I had completely forgotten that she's basically the Jaian of this group… ha ha.

Her normal voice is really cute, but somehow… when she sings… well, it's painful to listen to.

The karaoke session ended with Rim and Connie getting into a fight—Rim threw a cup of water at Connie's head right before she finished her song…

Even though things got a little chaotic, at least everyone seemed a bit happier.

That's good.

Karen said that my smile helped everyone relax, but I don't think that's true. Even now, everyone keeps looking out for me. My jokes are terrible—they're not funny at all… so how could they really make people laugh? Ha ha…

I really am useless, huh? I always have to rely on others to comfort me…

But at least, now, everyone is smiling again.

Nobita put down his pen.

He heard Kelly calling for him—it was almost time for dinner. He placed the diary aside and called back, "I'm coming!" before hurrying out to join Kelly's group on the way to the dining room.

"Doraemon!" Nobita was overjoyed to see Doraemon and Shizuka stepping out of the control room.

Doraemon looked a little awkward as he said, "Sorry for making you worry, Nobita."

But Nobita didn't blame him at all—he ran up and hugged him tightly.

That night, they all had a truly joyful dinner together.

Doraemon and Shizuka shared some incredible news—the spaceship had detected dark matter, and they were now heading toward it at full speed.

This filled everyone with immense hope and excitement.

Finally, things were looking up.

Seeing everyone's joyful smiles, Nobita felt relieved.

He didn't know if they would ever make it back to Earth, or what challenges awaited them in the future.

But no matter what happens…

He will keep smiling.

After all, that's the only thing he can do.
