A Rider Kick in Marvel Rewrite

Chapter 14: Chapter 14

A woman navigated the riverbank, her recently purchased groceries carefully loaded into her vehicle. Her phone pressed against her ear as she spoke.

"I know, Mike. Don't worry, I got everything. I'll be home in an hour," she reassured her companion.

As she ended the call, a vibrant green head emerged slowly from the murky river waters. Me·Gaera·Re, the Frog Grongi, watched with predatory intent. His amphibian eyes locked onto the unsuspecting woman, calculating his moment of attack.

In a lightning-fast motion, Me·Gaera·Re projected his elongated, toxic tongue. It wrapped around the woman's neck with precision, pulling her towards the water with inhuman strength. Her shocked scream was quickly muffled as he dragged her deeper into the river's cold embrace.

The woman struggled, her movements growing weaker with each passing moment. Her eyes, once filled with life, gradually lost their spark. Me·Gaera·Re maintained his grip, methodically executing his hunting technique—a ritualistic method perfected by generations of Grongi before him.

When the struggle ceased, Me·Gaera·Re released the lifeless body, allowing the river's current to carry it away. With calculated precision, he marked another tally on his Guzepa, the tribal bracelet that tracked his kills.

"That's 15..." he croaked in the ancient Grongi language.

Blending seamlessly with the water, Me·Gaera·Re began swimming downstream, his amphibious form searching for the next unsuspecting prey in his deadly game of hunting.

The police have cordoned off a section of the riverbank, where multiple bodies have washed ashore. Investigators document the grim scene, their faces etched with concern as they examine the victims.

"All the victims seem to have been killed in a similar manner," one officer remarks, his brow furrowed. "Cause of death appears to be strangulation, but we haven't found any signs of a struggle on land."

Another officer shakes his head, perplexed. "It's as if they were pulled into the water and drowned. We need to figure out how this is happening before more people fall prey to this killer."

Captain George Stacy arrived at the riverbank, his weathered face grim as he surveyed the crime scene. He approached the lead detective, who was reviewing case files and photographs.

"What do we have?" George asked, his voice steady and professional.

The detective flipped through his notes. "Multiple victims, all killed near water sources. Forensics suggests they were pulled into the river and drowned. We've identified at least six bodies so far, all with similar wound patterns."

George studied the riverbank, his trained eye scanning the environment. "Have you identified any connection between the victims?"

"Nothing concrete," the detective responded. "Different ages, backgrounds, no apparent link except the method of killing and proximity to water."

George's mind raced through potential scenarios. After a moment of careful consideration, he made a decisive command.

"Increase river patrol. I want additional security along all riverbanks. Set up checkpoints, increase surveillance, and brief all units about potential water-based threats. We need to prevent more killings."

The detective nodded, immediately beginning to relay George's instructions through his radio. Captain Stacy continued examining the scene, his professional demeanor masking the growing concern beneath his calm exterior.

Detective Michael Rodriguez approached George Stacy, his face etched with a familiar concern. They had worked together for years, and Rodriguez knew how to read his captain's body language.

"George, this doesn't look like a typical serial killer," Rodriguez said, his voice low. "Reminds me of those rat monster incidents we investigated last week."

George initially scoffed, dismissing the comment. "Michael, we can't jump to supernatural conclusions without evidence."

Rodriguez persisted. "Just hear me out."

George paused, his professional skepticism wavering. He turned and carefully examined one of the bodies, his experienced eyes scanning every detail. That's when he noticed something unusual: a strange, translucent mucus surrounding the victim's neck.

The mucus was unlike anything he'd seen in standard forensic reports. It wasn't blood, wasn't typical bodily fluid. It was something... different.

The mucus had an almost iridescent quality, with a slight green tinge that seemed almost deliberate.

"That doesn't look normal," Michael said, his voice low and uncertain.

George's eyes narrowed. "Yeah…" he muttered,

The school bell rang, signaling the end of another academic day. Ace, Nico, and Berto stood together, their conversation drifting to Berto's unique family background.

"Your parents are paleontologists? That sounds incredible!" Ace exclaimed, his eyes wide with curiosity.

Nico chimed in with a playful grin. "I bet you've dusted off countless dinosaur bones during your adventures."

Berto let out a soft chuckle, his expression revealing a hint of weariness. "It's not as exciting as it sounds. Sure, dinosaurs are cool and all, but the reality of it is far less glamorous. My parents drag me across the globe to dig out bones, and let me tell you, the process is anything but thrilling."

The sound of police sirens filled the air as multiple patrol cars rushed past Ace, Nico, and Berto.

"What's got them in such a hurry?" Nico asked, her eyes following the disappearing vehicles.

Berto pulled out his phone, his expression changing as he read the notification that had just appeared.

"According to this news alert, there's some strange creature battling with law enforcement down by the river," he explained, his voice carrying a hint of worry.

The three friends huddled around the small screen of Berto's phone as the news reporter's voice emerged from the device's speakers.

"Breaking news: We're currently tracking reports of an unusual amphibian-like entity engaged in conflict with local police forces near the riverbank. Eyewitnesses describe the creature as resembling a massive frog, displaying extraordinary physical capabilities. The entity has been observed dragging victims into the water. The full extent of the danger remains unknown at this time. Law enforcement officials are advising all residents to stay clear of the area while additional units are being deployed to the location."

Ace's heart began racing as he recognized the telltale signs of another Grongi attack. His mind quickly worked to formulate an excuse to leave.

"Oh! Would you look at the time," he said, checking his watch with exaggerated concern. "My part-time job starts soon. I'll catch up with you both tomorrow!"

Before either of his friends could respond, Ace had already turned and sprinted away, leaving Berto and Nico standing there, their goodbyes caught in their throats. With practiced urgency, he mounted his Trychaser motorcycle and sped toward the scene of the confrontation between the police and the Frog Grongi.
