Absolute Death Game

Chapter 109: Supercomputer

Qin Shimoon's arms circled around Xiao Buli's neck, and her lips gently touched Xiao Buli's mouth. Perhaps because she had been underground for so long, her lips were icy cold, but such a chilly touch made Xiao Buli feel even more stimulated. To say that Xiao Buli hadn't been moved by such a delicately beautiful woman over the past few days would be unrealistic. However, basic human morals and rationality had kept him treating her with respect. But at this moment, in the quiet underground base, as he breathed in Qin Shimoon's musk and orchid scent and felt the soft trembling at his lips, Xiao Buli's heart throbbed.

Qin Shimoon pressed her lips against him briefly, then intended to pull away—after all, he only said a kiss, not a French kiss.

But who would have known that Xiao Buli's breath would suddenly become heavy? His strong arms forcefully embraced her waist, not allowing her to withdraw, and his lips took hers in a dominating kiss. Qin Shimoon wanted to resist but feared revealing her flaws to him. So she went along with his force. Xiao Buli's lips were warm and soft, and in a few movements, he gently pried open her tightly closed lips, and his warm tongue followed, penetrating her mouth. Qin Shimoon's body tensed, as Xiao Buli pulled her even tighter into his embrace, their tongues entangled, leaving Qin Shimoon almost breathless.

While struggling desperately in Xiao Buli's arms and whimpering with muffled cries, Xiao Buli finally let go.

Qin Shimoon took several deep breaths and glared fiercely at Xiao Buli, "Satisfied now?" she said, then pushed him away and strode forward.

"All right, it seems there really isn't a problem anymore." Xiao Buli's breathing was still heavy, but it was because the excitement in his heart was hard to settle. Savoring the sweet taste from moments ago, Xiao Buli started to feel his thoughts running wild.

"Move it!" Qin Shimoon shouted without looking back, and Xiao Buli then beckoned Hei, who was yawning out of boredom beside him, and followed Qin Shimoon's steps. Stay tuned with My Virtual Library Empire

The base's layout was very simple. It was imaginable that with the development level of the time, excavating such a large underground base in the heart of the desert was a tremendous feat. Due to various constraints such as terrain, the internal structure of the base was not overly complicated, even straightforward at a glance.

When the two entered through the password-protected door that Qin Shimoon had just opened, the entirety of the base was immediately laid bare before them. There weren't many defense mechanisms, indicating that the people of the time had placed immense faith in the single barrier—the password door that Qin Shimoon had opened. As Xiao Buli passed by, he marveled at the door's thickness: a solid half-meter-thick steel door. From the cut edges, it wasn't a metal shell, meaning that the door's half-meter thickness was solid throughout.

The sliding track of the door was integrated directly into the rock walls on each side. He took a closer look at the password lock on the door and internally marveled. The large lock, the size of a chessboard, controlled over a dozen iron shafts thicker than an arm. These retractable shafts were irregularly distributed along the sides of the steel doors, corresponding to equally thick openings on the opposite side. This meant that when the door was locked, the seemingly weakest seam was actually interlaced with a dozen sturdy connectors, and the door was designed with a simple convex-concave shape. When the doors closed, they fit together seamlessly, making it an impossible task for even the mightiest of forces to break through.

Although describing it may seem verbose, Xiao Buli walked by, and in just a few seconds, with thoughts racing, they entered the base. Under the lighting all around, the base's full view was immediately apparent.

It turns out that the point where they entered was the top level of the base. The other parts of the base were built downward into deeper underground. The top was an artificially excavated dome, kept in its raw rock state without any embellishment, which, it seems, would have been useless for the base. Massive metal support beams held numerous spotlights, providing more than enough illumination for the entire base when fully lit.

Between the first level and the level immediately below was an atrium design, allowing anyone standing on the platform of the first level to clearly see what was happening below. Presumably, General Huo would stand on this level to oversee the busy figures of the experimental staff below.

In the center of the level below sat a huge iron cabinet, occupying an area of about ten square meters. The surface of the cabinet was covered with various electronic components, but at that moment, Xiao Buli did not know their purpose. Surrounding the cabinet were about a dozen reclining chairs. At the end of each chair was an item resembling a helmet, with wires connecting to the metal cabinet. There were several straps at the wrist and ankle sections of the chair, which overall made it look similar to an electric chair used for executions.

On the level where the two were situated, apart from the platform, there was an iron door every few steps, many of which were now open. As they walked slowly by, they could see into the rooms. The rooms had been harshly hewn from the rock walls, then simply decorated with a layer of cement applied to the walls, masking the traces of the rock.

The first dozen rooms, each only about a dozen square meters large, looked much like prison cells with a uniform specification. In each room against the wall, there were bunk beds placed, and opposite them stood a table with two chairs. Towards the back of the room was a small partition that clearly appeared to be a restroom, whether it contained flush toilets or chamber pots was unclear, and if it was the latter, surviving in this cramped space would certainly be challenging. Both of them didn't delve into such details, and nobody was willing to enter those oppressive and gloomy rooms.

Further inside, a larger room came into view, its interior quite spacious, furnished with two long tables in the center and some cups and plates scattered on top of them. It was likely the dining hall originally, and the two entered. They flicked on the wall light switch, revealing signs that people had evacuated in haste: many things were toppled over and not packed away, and the kitchen door was left wide open. They navigated past the scattered items on the floor to enter the kitchen; it was not large, clearly designed for no more than three chefs to work simultaneously, any more and there'd be simply no room to maneuver. One side was lined with a counter and a sink, the other boasted several large stoves which appeared to be powered by electricity, reminiscent of current-day induction cooktops. Xiao Buli went to test the faucet, twisting it to see if it worked—if they truly planned to live here, water was certainly a necessity.

However, after a few attempts, the faucet did not budge, perhaps rusted shut, but the touch was cold and moisture seeping out suggested there was water in the pipes, and by the temperature, it could very well be a local underground source. They decided to wait until they were more settled to continue investigating the faucet.

Behind the kitchen was an iron door, likely a storeroom, but it was locked with a padlock, Xiao Buli noted, rusted shut. They planned to deal with both the padlock and faucet later; right now, the priority was to gain a full understanding of the base. So without further delay, they continued inward. Past the kitchen, the platform had already turned halfway, leading to another series of residential rooms, clearly superior to the earlier cramped cells. The beds were still bunk beds but slightly wider and seemingly more comfortable, likely quarters for the staff back in the day.

With about twenty of these rooms, it seemed there were more staff than test subjects at that time. Now having seen the entire ground level, they circled back to the staircase heading down. Made of iron with wooden boards laid on top, the staircase creaked unsettlingly with each step due to age.

"Why did they place the test subjects near the entrance? Weren't they afraid they might run?" Xiao Buli discussed casually with Qin Shimoon as they descended the stairs.

"Run? Did you see the two rooms by the entrance? I reckon there were soldiers on guard there round the clock. Putting test subjects on the outskirts was to prevent them from injuring the defenseless staff or taking hostages should they riot or try to escape," Qin Shimoon shared his thoughts.

Xiao Buli nodded in agreement, thinking to himself how he had failed to notice the rooms flanking the entrance when they first entered the base because those rooms were built somewhat like gun towers, with high openings, making them easy to overlook from below.

Since the facility was carved out of rock and space was a premium at the time, the distance from the ground level to the basement wasn't great—just over two meters—so they quickly reached the lower level.

The first thing to catch their eye was the large metal cabinet in the center. Xiao Buli approached it; although he had never encountered one before, his background in computer science and his career always revolving around computers allowed him to recognize it immediately as the supercomputer of the time.

"Come take a look." While Xiao Buli circled the cabinet, trying to find a way to turn it on, Qin Shimoon suddenly called out from the other side.

Xiao Buli, thinking that she might be in some danger, immediately rushed over. Qin Shimoon was in a room below the staircase, standing transfixed in front of a huge glass window as Xiao Buli arrived.

"What's up?" Xiao Buli asked urgently as he entered the room.

"Look." without turning, Qin Shimoon's eyes remained fixed on something inside the glass, clearly captivated by whatever it was.
