Chapter 111: Wanted Criminal
"Hehe, just take a look. Trust me, military supplies can sometimes be beyond your expectations." Seeing Qin Shimoon speak so firmly and already starting to walk upstairs, Xiao Buli had no choice but to follow her up. Reaching the kitchen from before, Xiao Buli took out his precious sword and with one Mysterious Ice Slash, he effortlessly broke the large lock outside.
With a clattering, Qin Shimoon couldn't help pushing the door open first, "Cough, cough," and immediately started coughing violently. "What's that smell?"
Xiao Buli asked at this moment too, likely it was the smell of spoiled food.
Turning on the lights, the space inside was indeed not small—about two to three times larger than the kitchen, with shelves neatly stacked with wooden crates. Judging from the situation, the two of them could eat for several years with plenty to spare, calculating this based on the gray and mushy remnants of decay on the shelves closest to the door that once were vegetables, pork, and other items. The foul smell they detected naturally came from these spoiled goods. Covering her nose, Qin Shimoon went inside and pulled out an opened crate, taking out a tin of canned beef.
She quickly called for Xiao Buli to go outside.
Once outside the kitchen, they finally released their noses, "You see, I told you there would definitely be items that have a long shelf life. Let's open it and check." Qin Shimoon handed the canned beef to Xiao Buli.
Xiao Buli thought to himself that even if it was edible, he would need to purchase more supplies later. Thinking back to the earlier smell, he felt a bout of nausea, but he took out a dagger to cut open the metal can. Gently prying it open, a scent of beef wafted out.
"Hmm~ it smells pretty good. Seems like beef," Qin Shimoon said with some excitement beside him. She pinched off a small piece and put it in her mouth, causing Xiao Buli to click his tongue in disbelief.
"Not bad at all, you should try it too." Qin Shimoon pinched off a piece and brought it to Xiao Buli's mouth. Xiao Buli intended to refuse, but seeing Qin Shimoon's scallion-like fingers, he opened his mouth anyway. The beef was indeed good, and despite the many years, its flavor hadn't changed at all; it was very well preserved.
"Ah, I forgot to wash my hands after flipping those corpses just now." Qin Shimoon seemed to suddenly remember as she watched Xiao Buli already swallow the beef.
"Ah, ugh, ugh," Xiao Buli, already psychologically repulsed, started to heave. Qin Shimoon turned away, the mischievous laughter barely hidden in her eyes. That's what you get for taking advantage of me earlier.
Long story short, Xiao Buli and Qin Shimoon cleaned up the kitchen's storage and aired out the bad smell. Thanks to the intact ventilation system of the underground base, the smell had already improved a lot in a short time. Xiao Buli somehow got the water tap in the kitchen to work, and the clear, refreshing water that flowed out solved their drinking water problem.
The electric stoves were mostly unusable due to age, but since the principle behind electric stoves is very simple, Xiao Buli combined usable parts from several stoves and fixed one of them. Now the issue of heating was also solved. They cooked two tins of beef and a bag of compressed biscuits, making up a rather unappetizing mush for their dinner.
The Wolf King, Hei, sniffed at the mush with disdain but began to lick it up due to hunger. It was obvious that this was its first experience with warm food.
After eating, both of them were tired from a long day and hastily tidied up two rooms. Xiao Buli then instructed Hei to stand guard outside their rooms, and their first night in the base passed just like that.
Because there was no distinction between day and night inside the base, Xiao Buli used his phone to set an alarm. He certainly didn't want to end up with his days and nights turned upside down.
At six in the morning, Xiao Buli was already awake before the alarm even rang. Since he began practicing the Yi Wood Xuan Yang Scripture, he clearly didn't need much sleep. Xiao Buli didn't wake Qin Shimoon, simply washed up in the kitchen and started making breakfast.
"Morning~" A lazy, feminine voice sounded from behind him.
"Yeah, go wash up; breakfast is almost ready," Xiao Buli replied, turning to look at Qin Shimoon, but then found himself unable to turn back away. Throughout their journey, Qin Shimoon was always wrapped up tightly, partly because of the desert sun and partly to guard herself against Xiao Buli.
But today, perhaps because they had found the base and she felt more relaxed, or maybe because she hadn't had the time to get fully dressed upon waking, Qin Shimoon was wearing only a white shirt. The shirt, which must have belonged to some staff member from years before in her room, was made of fine material—pure white and oversized, suggesting that its previous owner must have been a strong and tall man. Qin Shimoon, petite in comparison, appeared even more so under the loose shirt. The top few buttons were undone, revealing her creamy neck and the hint of her soft chest—uncertain if she wore anything underneath, the ambiguity was enticing. The shirt reached just above her knees, barely covering the essentials, while her fair thighs peeked out as she moved.
Unconcerned with Xiao Buli's stunned expression, Qin Shimoon walked straight to the stove out of curiosity and bent down to sniff what was inside the pot. Standing beside her, Xiao Buli could nearly see everything down her open collar—a herd of ten thousand elephants stampeded through his heart while he strived to maintain his composure.
Qin Shimoon frowned slightly in displeasure and looked up at Xiao Buli, "Are we eating compressed biscuits again?" she asked with a lazy voice, intentionally elongating her words, clearly teasing him. As mentioned before, the kitchen wasn't large, barely enough space for three people to turn around, so Xiao Buli and Qin Shimoon were extremely close, and Xiao Buli tried hard not to let his gaze drift downward.

"Yeah," he replied somewhat stiffly.
"Alright," Qin Shimoon seemed to sigh unintentionally, her breath lightly brushing Xiao Buli's cheek, causing his heart to throb violently, and unintended tension to arise below.
Xiao Buli thought to himself, "Big sis, aren't you playing with fire here? Your contract is in my hands, aren't you worried I might just eat you up?"
Qin Shimoon finally left the kitchen. When she appeared again, she was neatly dressed, which left Xiao Buli slightly disappointed in his heart.
After the meal, Xiao Buli took out his laptop, connected the power, and turned it on. Due to the special nature of the Death Game, there was no need to install any client software. Although it was a new notebook, the special icon still existed on the desktop because of the operator's reasons.
"Whew," Xiao Buli let out a deep breath. How long had it been since he had logged into the game? His heart was actually a bit excited. He logged into the game and his character was still at the same spot he left off – on a small hill not too far from Nine Dragons City.
Xiao Buli was hesitating whether to head to Nine Dragons City first to scout the situation, return directly to Black Mountain, or visit Mystic Hollow Palace first when a loud 'clang' erupted from outside.
"Aah~!" A loud noise followed by a scream reached him, and Xiao Buli shuddered. Not daring to delay, he quickly exited the game and darted out of the room.
"What happened?" Qin Shimoon stood at the door of the kitchen. The floor was a mess with rice paste and meat can traces splattered on Hei's body and the ground. The rice pot was overturned, clearly Qin Shimoon had knocked it over after cooking lunch at the kitchen doorway.
Qin Shimoon looked at Hei with a huff, her face a picture of helplessness.
Hei, however, looked at Xiao Buli with an innocent expression, obliviously started eating the minced meat off the ground.
"Come on, can't you control your pet a bit better? It follows me around all day and I can't shoo it away; it's so annoying," Qin Shimoon complained as she picked up the rice pot, huffing past Xiao Buli.
Xiao Buli felt slightly embarrassed because he had Hei follow Qin Shimoon around due to his suspicions of her, figuring it wouldn't be pleasant for a lady to always have a wolf tailing her.
Thinking it over, Xiao Buli waved his hand and re-sealed Hei, then looked up at Qin Shimoon and said, "Okay, I'll put it away, but you are not allowed to leave the base without my permission. That's an order, understand?"
Qin Shimoon seemed to nod impatiently, "Got it, got it, just hurry up and put away your stinky dog."
Xiao Buli didn't mind her reaction; he believed this way was safe enough. After speaking, he turned and went back to his room to log into the game again, unaware of the smug smile that flitted across Qin Shimoon's face the moment he turned away.
Having logged back into the game, Xiao Buli had already decided on his destination – Nine Dragons City. Since Huo Guangxiong turned out to be fake, the purpose of his creating the Ancestral Dragon and constructing the Teleportation Portal was highly suspect. Therefore, Xiao Buli urgently wanted to find out how the other side was faring now and whether, as the old man had previously said, it was being besieged by the system.
Moving stealthily near Nine Dragons City, Xiao Buli was about to find a deserted spot to sneak in when he noticed something off, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it.
The city was lively and peaceful, with no apparent signs of trouble. Following the flow of people, he approached the city gates. Reaching the entrance, he saw several NPC guards chatting amiably in front of the gate, discussing trivial matters. Just as Xiao Buli was about to enter, he suddenly grasped it—where had that tense atmosphere gone?
He finally snapped out of it. Due to the pressure from the Demon Clan's army, the city had always been under martial law, but now it seemed completely devoid of any pre-war tension. Perhaps the Demon Clan's siege had finished?
These NPC guards were nameless, so naturally, they weren't as autonomous as the NPCs with names. He clicked on one of the gate NPCs and immediately a dialogue box popped up.
1. Look for someone.
2. Gather information.
Seeing that these NPC guards were nameless and not as autonomous as the named NPCs, Xiao Buli clicked to gather information. Another dialogue box popped up, and he typed in, "I am a traveler from afar. Is there any news about the Demon Clan recently?"
The guard gave Xiao Buli a glance and suddenly shouted, "It's him, the wanted criminal! Everyone, come quick!" Immediately, his name turned to the emblematic red of an enemy, and, brandishing his spear, he lunged at Xiao Buli. (To be continued.
