Chapter 75 - Aftermath
I finally succeeded in defeating the Witch of Music, Aria, who was like a living disaster, through my amateur card fortune-telling!
…That’s what I clearly thought just before falling asleep, slumping onto the sofa.
And about 20 minutes after I fell into a deep sleep, I got up with a drowsy mind at the sensation of someone gently tapping me.
“Ah, you’re awake? My Larva.”
“Who… Whoa?!”
And I was terrified as soon as I saw the person standing in front of me with my half-open eyes.
I almost jumped up and fell over the back of the sofa! That’s how surprised I was.
No, and for good reason, because that Witch of Music, who had just passionately left through the door saying she absolutely wouldn’t return until she found what she wanted, suddenly appeared in front of my eyes again!
I had just barely managed to drive her away by mobilizing all the abilities I currently have, and yet she came back so quickly!! It would have been stranger not to be surprised.
And all sorts of thoughts stirred in my head.
“W-w-why are you here again…?!”
“Ah, I was about to leave right away, but on my way, I remembered I had a gift I hadn’t given to Larva! I came back just to give you that!”
“A gift you hadn’t given…? Ah, I see…”
Whew… Fortunately, it’s not about instruments or whatever, or her intention to sing by my side and kidnap me…
“Actually, I came 10 minutes ago, but Larva sleeping soundly was so cute that I stared for a while? Fufu… You were so cute I wanted to hug you tightly and be together!”
…It’s really fortunate!!! Thank you so much, Aria, for just thinking about it and not actually doing it!!!
“Ahem…!! W-well, anyway, what is this gift you’re talking about…?”
“Ah, it’s nothing special…”
Aria, smiling at my words, rummaged through her pocket and then placed what she called a gift on the desk.
“?!?!”
And I was horrified when I saw what she called a gift.
No, and for good reason, because what this Witch of Music called a gift was a person’s face, contorted in pain, carefully tied with a ribbon as if it were packaging!!
“Ah, no, what is this…”
I’m someone who can’t even watch gore or horror movies…!?
“Ah, there was that cult leader guy who bothered Larva before, right? This is his face. Someone of Larva’s caliber wouldn’t have cared much about him since you didn’t go out to deal with him yourself… but I found him unpleasant. Very much so… So I dealt with him myself?”
Cult leader… Ah, that EX-rank superhuman I met in Jeju Island who suddenly screamed and ran away…?
I had forgotten about him since there was no particular news after he appeared on the news then, and it wasn’t a memory I particularly wanted to recall… but to think she killed such a powerful person like this?!
I was once again acutely reminded of the strength of the transcendent called the Witch of Music, which I had only heard about.
Although she’s currently showing goodwill towards me, she’s truly an incredibly difficult being.
But still, to bring a severed head tied with a ribbon as a gift, how am I supposed to take this…? It’s a good thing that such a dangerous element has been eliminated, but…
Ugh, let’s think positively… She brought it with good intentions, and what good would come from antagonizing the Witch of Music who easily killed such a person? And if I just accept this well, it seems she’ll really leave now…
“Ahem, I had forgotten about that guy… Thank you. Thanks to you, one dangerous element has been reduced…”
“This half-wit being a dangerous element to you, my Larva? Fufu, you have a great sense of humor too, my Larva!”
??? No, where was there any element of humor??
She really seems to have a sensibility that’s hard to understand. Well… Is it because she’s someone that an ordinary person like me can’t understand that she could reach the supreme realm called EX-rank? I don’t know, I really don’t…
Well, her music was amazing though…
“Anyway, I’m glad you accepted it well! Although it was just a small gift! Next time, I’ll return with the best songs to play for you with the instruments you told me about!!”
“Yes… Goodbye…”
I swallowed the words “Please leave quickly” internally. I felt like trouble would occur if I even mumbled it quietly, given that person’s abilities.
Anyway, now the Witch of Music Aria has really left.
…She’s really not coming back now, right?? Hmm, anyway…
“…I’m completely awake now… Sigh…”
I let out another big sigh as I looked at the complete mess the house had become.
Life really… It seems like normal days have become rarer since I became an amateur fortune-teller… Often getting tangled up in incidents…
“It’s fortunate that at least the fatigue is gone… I should clean up first…”
There was a mountain of things to clean up because everyone had fainted in unsightly poses and made all sorts of messes.
Damn, I thought they might all wake up and take care of it themselves when I woke up, but thanks to my fatigue completely disappearing even though I only slept for a short while, it looks like I have to do it all myself.
“Ah, this is annoying. And how am I supposed to deal with that hideous monstrosity??”
I can’t ask others to take care of it since they’re all unconscious… I’ll have to tell them when they all wake up. It’s fortunate that it’s not bleeding from the head…
Anyway, I started to gradually organize the completely messed up living room.
Wiping off the stuff that had gotten on the fainted people, gathering and laying down the fainted people in one place, and tidying up and cleaning the things that were strewn about, broken, and scattered.
“…Wow, if the police had come and seen this mess, I wonder what they would have thought…”
Blood spattered everywhere, a person collapsed with an axe stuck in their body, people collapsed as if they had eaten poison with food and dishes strewn about, and even a head placed on the table…
Hmm, it would look like I, a psycho killer, had poisoned and massacred a whole family, and then chopped up with an axe those who didn’t die from the poison… Even packaging the severed head like a madman…
The situation outside must be a mess too, so it would look even worse. Am I going to be called an S-rank villain??
“Well, that won’t happen though…”
I muttered after dispelling some of the annoyance through idle thoughts.
The influence of Aria’s music should still be in effect.
Everyone should still not be in their right minds. Especially superhumans who are stronger than ordinary people.
What was it called? I saw somewhere that superhumans who are much stronger than ordinary people naturally have much more sensitive senses and strength than others, so they react more strongly to the Witch of Music’s performance.
I think I saw something saying that while EX-ranks might not have aftereffects if they get hit and collapse, for S-ranks, the damage lasts longer than for ordinary people, especially the stronger they are, the longer it lasts.
“According to that, they’ll wake up after quite a while.”
I wonder if they’ll all regret their actions hard when they come to their senses.
“But today I’ll be able to rest comfortably? Since everyone’s not in their right mind, there won’t be any visitors.”
If I were to squeeze out any benefit for myself from this situation, this would be the only one, I thought.
Since everyone’s in a dazed state, there shouldn’t be anyone who would think to come looking for me today, right?
People who had made reservations in advance would cancel or postpone. Well, it automatically cancels if they don’t show up anyway.
Still, thinking about this benefit made me feel a bit better.
It was already a nerve-wracking day having to tell the fortune of that Witch of Music, so I didn’t want to have to do fortune-telling for other people again. Likewise, Arin would be in a dazed state too.
“Ah, come to think of it, I should tidy up my fortune-telling room too?”
After sweeping the garden and washing the groaning Yeopoong who had fainted, I suddenly thought I should go down to the basement because of Arin, and after thoroughly cleaning the messed-up garden area, I went down to the fortune-telling room.
As expected, an abnormal situation was unfolding when I went down.
“Still better than upstairs…”
At least Arin is a crystal ball, so she doesn’t vomit and such.
Instead, it seemed she had thrashed about, as the room was in quite a bad state. But still, this is relatively decent.
Anyway, after investing a lot of time like that, I finally succeeded in the feat of cleaning up that mess by myself, if not perfectly, at least to a decent extent!
“Whew… Even I think I’ve accomplished something amazing…?”
The more thorough cleaning will be done by these fainted friends who, while not the main culprits of this situation, could be called supporting actors, when they wake up.
To be honest, I was too lazy to do more.
Ah, you guys have a stake in this too, right? So ‘please’ clean up!
Honestly, it was beyond my ability to make everything spotlessly clean, including the vomit and blood… You can take care of that much yourselves, can’t you?
“Phew, after cleaning, I’m physically tired now… Should I sleep again…”
I briefly looked at the cult leader’s head placed on the table, closed his contorted face’s eyes, and placed it next to Cheon Ryu-hwa.
Well… I don’t particularly like it, and if we’re being strict, he could be called an enemy, but it seems he’s suffered enough, and he’s already dead, so…
I’ll have to ask Dalgi to burn it without leaving a trace when I wake up later. Of course, I wasn’t going to display or bury this here.
“Now I’ll really sleep deeply… No one will disturb me this time, right?”
So I went back to my room to sleep, and only after a bit more time passed did the people at Han-ul’s house who had fainted wake up.
And after they woke up, they all silently worked together with reddened faces to make the house completely spotless.
Right after that, they all went somewhere far away to vent their frustrations thoroughly before coming back.
It was a somewhat peaceful(?) day. Probably?
