After Being Reborn, I Refuse To Be The Holy Son Of The Sect Anymore

Chapter 139:

Chapter 139:

Outside the gates of Jiuxiao City, Xiao Yang couldn’t believe the arrogance and rudeness of the disciples from the Ten Directions Sect. They were not only disrespectful but also looked down on others with disdain.

Originally, Xiao Yang intended to enter the city discreetly, but these two gatekeeping disciples stopped him right away, mocking him relentlessly. This infuriated him.

“I haven’t changed my name or identity. Are you accusing me of impersonating Xiao Yang?” Xiao Yang was truly enraged. He was standing right there in person, yet they had the audacity to claim someone was pretending to be him.

It was absurd. Who would dare impersonate him and flaunt it in Jiuxiao City?

As the Holy Son of the Azure Sun Sword Sect—one of the top ten powers in the Northern Region—his status was prestigious. Impersonating him wasn’t something anyone could do lightly without facing serious consequences from the sect.

Of course, Xiao Yang didn’t particularly care about his title as the Holy Son, and he planned to leave the sect after the upcoming grand competition. However, someone impersonating him and scamming others in his name made him furious.

“If you don’t have an entry token, get lost! Stop wasting our time. The real Xiao Yang is already inside the city. If you’re not an imposter, then who is?” sneered the tall and skinny Ten Directions Sect disciple.

“Exactly, scram while you still can. If you run into the real deal, you’ll regret it,” the short and stout disciple added with a cold smirk.

Xiao Yang couldn’t help but wonder—were all the disciples of the Ten Directions Sect this arrogant? These were merely gatekeepers, yet they were so full of themselves. He glanced at their clothing; both were dressed in green robes, signifying their status as outer sect disciples.

If the outer sect disciples were this haughty, how much worse would the inner sect disciples be?

“What’s with all the noise so early in the morning?”

A familiar voice drifted out from inside the city gates.

Xiao Yang looked up and was surprised to see an acquaintance stepping out.

“It’s you?” Xiao Yang’s eyes widened in shock.

The person’s face changed instantly upon recognizing Xiao Yang, and they tried to slip away. However, there was someone walking right behind him, making escape difficult.

“You…” Xiao Yang was even more surprised when he recognized the person following behind.

“Haha! Imposter, you’re in trouble now. The real Xiao Yang is here,” the tall Ten Directions Sect disciple sneered, watching the situation unfold with glee.

“Young Master Xiao, perfect timing! This guy has been impersonating you. It’s him!” The other disciple respectfully pointed at Xiao Yang and spoke to the handsome young man standing before them.

“Me? Impersonating the Holy Son of the Azure Sun Sword Sect?” Xiao Yang crossed his arms and smirked at the two people in front of him.

They were none other than the Northern Region’s greatest swindler, Liu Qingyun, and his precious disciple, Ling Xian’er.

Liu Qingyun, the infamous con artist, was dressed in an elegant sky-blue robe, giving him a refined and ethereal appearance. His hair was tied up with a simple jade hairpin, and a few strands of silver hair fluttered in the wind, adding to his scholarly demeanor.

As for Ling Xian’er, she was dressed as a young man. She had disguised herself as a tall and dashing youth, exuding confidence and composure.

Ling Xian’er, like her master, remained calm and composed despite the unexpected encounter with Xiao Yang at the city gates.

It was truly a case of “like master, like disciple.”

Xiao Yang couldn’t help but admire their audacity. The master was a professional con artist, and the disciple was following in his footsteps. Now they had even taken their scams to Jiuxiao City, with Ling Xian’er disguising herself as him.

“You were just claiming to be the Holy Son of the Azure Sun Sword Sect. What’s the matter? Now that the real one is here, are you going to admit defeat? Are you scared?” The gatekeeper sneered mockingly.

“Elder Lei, this man has the audacity to impersonate the Holy Son of the Azure Sun Sword Sect. How should we deal with this fraud?” The other disciple respectfully turned to Liu Qingyun.

“Elder Lei? How do you plan to deal with me?” Xiao Yang smirked at Liu Qingyun.

This swindler had some nerve—he was even impersonating Lei Lie, the Law Enforcement Elder of the Azure Sun Sword Sect.

Lei Lie was not an ordinary figure; he was widely recognized in the Northern Region. If Liu Qingyun was exposed, things would get ugly for him.

On the other hand, Xiao Yang himself was not well-known outside the sect, making him an easier target for impersonation.

“Haha…” Liu Qingyun suddenly burst into laughter and casually placed a hand on Xiao Yang’s shoulder. “My dear son-in-law, it’s you!”

Despite being caught in the act, he remained perfectly calm, showing no signs of panic or embarrassment.

Xiao Yang couldn’t help but be impressed. Liu Qingyun’s ability to talk his way out of anything was truly remarkable.

“Son-in-law?” Xiao Yang rubbed his chin and looked at Liu Qingyun in confusion. What was this guy up to now?

“Elder Lei’s son-in-law?” The two Ten Directions Sect disciples were stunned.

“Haha, it’s all a misunderstanding. This is my son-in-law! He often jokes around, claiming to be the Holy Son of the Azure Sun Sword Sect,” Liu Qingyun laughed heartily.

“This…” The two gatekeepers exchanged nervous glances.

They were doomed! They had unknowingly offended Elder Lei’s son-in-law. What should they do now?

Elder Lei was a powerhouse in the Azure Sun Sword Sect, and they were mere outer sect disciples of the Ten Directions Sect—insignificant in comparison. They could be crushed with ease.

“Um… about earlier… we didn’t mean any disrespect…” One of the disciples stammered nervously.

Xiao Yang watched their expressions change and sneered internally.

These two were so arrogant moments ago, but now they were terrified. He had half a mind to expose Liu Qingyun’s act right then and there. But he decided against it—he wanted to see how much further this farce could go.

Liu Qingyun, still smiling, patted Xiao Yang on the back. “Come, come, let’s go inside. It’s been a while since we last met, and we have a lot to talk about.”

Ling Xian’er shot Xiao Yang a knowing glance, as if she had everything under control.

Xiao Yang followed them inside, shaking his head with a wry smile.

Outside the gates of Jiuxiao City, the two disciples of the Ten Directions Sect were filled with fear and anxiety.

“When did I become your son-in-law?” Xiao Yang asked, both amused and exasperated.

“My dear son-in-law, didn’t I tell you before that I was going to betroth my daughter to you?” Liu Qingyun patted Xiao Yang’s shoulder as he spoke.

“Don’t expose me, I’m begging you!” Liu Qingyun whispered into Xiao Yang’s ear in a voice only the two of them could hear.

“That depends on my mood,” Xiao Yang replied with a smirk.

“Brother Xiao, we meet again!” Xiao Yang stepped forward and suddenly embraced Ling Xian’er in a big hug.

Ling Xian’er was stunned. She had never been so close to any man before, and now she was being hugged by Xiao Yang. Although she was dressed as a man, she was still a woman at heart.

She hurriedly tried to push Xiao Yang away, but before she could, Xiao Yang released her and stepped back.

“You…” Ling Xian’er, overwhelmed by the masculine scent of Xiao Yang, blushed furiously, her face turning red with shyness.

“Oh my, Brother Xiao, why is your face so red?” Xiao Yang asked in mock surprise.

“I-It’s not!” Ling Xian’er stammered in panic.

Xiao Yang was having a great time. Since she was pretending to be him, he decided to take advantage of the situation and openly tease her.

With a grin, he put an arm around Ling Xian’er’s shoulder and said to the two gatekeeping disciples, “So, can I go in now?”

“Of course, of course…” The two disciples hurriedly nodded.

“No entry token needed?” Xiao Yang asked again.

“No, no need at all…” Their heads shook so fast they seemed like rattles.

This wasn’t a joke—if even the real Holy Son of the Azure Sun Sword Sect called him “brother,” who would dare stop him from entering?

It was only now that the two disciples realized they had unwittingly offended someone with an immense background. They were already trembling in fear.

Meanwhile, Ling Xian’er, still being held by Xiao Yang, was feeling a mix of shock, embarrassment, and a touch of anger. Her heart pounded, and her face felt as if it were burning.

Xiao Yang didn’t want to waste any more time with the guards and was planning to tease Ling Xian’er further, but at that moment, he sensed the approaching presence of Huang Tian and Li Fanyin.

“Alright, let’s head inside and talk later,” Xiao Yang said as he grabbed both Liu Qingyun and the disguised Ling Xian’er, pulling them quickly into the city.

The two disciples guarding the gate didn’t dare to block them any further. Their attitudes had changed entirely; they now treated Xiao Yang with utmost respect, bowing repeatedly as they stepped aside.

“Take care, Elder Lei! Farewell, Holy Son! Honored guests, have a safe journey…” They bowed deeply and watched them leave.

Once Xiao Yang and his companions had entered the city, the two disciples finally breathed a sigh of relief. Their legs nearly gave out beneath them.

“Big shots like them are way beyond our league…”

Just then, two figures descended from the sky outside the city gates—it was Li Fanyin and the Blade God, Huang Tian.

“Welcome back, Miss!” The two guards immediately greeted Li Fanyin with utmost respect.

“Who were those people just now?” Li Fanyin asked, watching the figures of Xiao Yang and his group disappear into the city. There was something familiar about the person in the middle, but she couldn’t quite place it.

“Oh, they were Elder Lei from the Azure Sun Sword Sect, Holy Son Xiao Yang, and Elder Lei’s son-in-law,” the tall disciple quickly replied.

“Elder Lei? You mean Lei Lie, the Law Enforcement Elder of the Azure Sun Sword Sect?” Huang Tian pondered.

He had seen the Azure Sun Sword Sect’s high-ranking members before, and Lei Lie was definitely one of them.

“The Azure Sun Sword Sect’s Holy Son Xiao Yang is here?” Li Fanyin was surprised.

With the grand competition approaching, why were members of the Azure Sun Sword Sect appearing in Jiuxiao City? After all, the Azure Sun Sword Sect and the Ten Directions Sect were rivals and would face each other in the competition.

She quickly rushed into the city, but Xiao Yang and his group had already disappeared from sight.

“They’re fast… But in Jiuxiao City, there’s no one I can’t find.” Li Fanyin smirked to herself. She was curious to meet this so-called genius who had once defeated Li Xingyao, the Holy Maiden of the Soaring Cloud Sword Sect.

Xiao Yang’s victory over Li Xingyao had made him famous throughout the Northern Region.

Li Xingyao was widely recognized as the number one genius of the younger generation in the entire Northern Region. However, during the challenge at Azure Sun Mountain, she had been defeated by Xiao Yang.

Now that she knew Xiao Yang was in the city, Li Fanyin was eager to see him for herself.

Meanwhile, Xiao Yang had led Liu Qingyun and the disguised Ling Xian’er into a secluded alley not far from the city gate.

“Alright, spill it. Why are you impersonating me?” Xiao Yang crossed his arms and looked at them with a half-smile.
