Chapter 326: Today, She Will Confess!
It was a Saturday, and Kagura Hikaru got up early.
He opened the window of his room in a great mood, and while looking at the blue sky and the thick, huge clouds that looked like the legs of a chicken gun, he played his electric guitar. The guitar, not plugged in, could hardly make any decent sound, but the music was in his head.
After admiring the rare beautiful sky for a while, he put down the guitar and walked out the door.
His mother Xiaosong Lisha and her fiancé Kiryu Masaki had gone out to look at wedding venues and order a wedding dress. He and Kiryu Hina both had no interest in following them.
The two of them shared a similar view on marriage: they both believed marriage is a matter between two people, related to love, and nothing to do with children. Even if Xiaosong Lisha and Kiryu Masaki insisted on dragging them along, they wouldn't go. It would make them feel like light bulbs, as if going was equating to prison.
Perhaps such a view was 'naive,' like that of a primary school student, but Kagura Hikaru thought it wasn't bad to maintain such an awareness.
This, at the very least, proved that he hadn't become completely disenchanted with love after witnessing his parents' terrible marriage—he still had the 'function' of love.
Though he was nearly worn out by the few women around him.
At school, as soon as class ended every day, the three great beauties from his class would come over to talk to him, scaring his male desk mate into a habit of leaving as soon as the bell rang.
In the past, Kagura Hikaru could ease his mental fatigue by staying near Ai Cheng Hua Lian and soaking up some motherly energy, but with her band suddenly becoming famous, Kagura Hikaru now hardly found any opportunity to be alone with Ai Cheng Hua Lian at school. Whenever he saw her, she was surrounded by a throng of girls her age, troubled by forced smiles.
It was only when they were working that the two of them would meet at the company, but they barely had any time then. The more famous the band became, the busier Ai Cheng Hua Lian and her bandmates were.
Today, Kagura Hikaru woke up in a good mood simply because he finally had a chance to meet Ai Cheng Angel after a long time.
Ai Cheng Hua Lian told him in a line message that she was at the Ruzaki's house and would stay until the afternoon. Coincidentally, today was the day he was due to give Ruzaki Mami her piano lesson.
It was a bit early, but he planned to leave now.
Seeing Kagura Hikaru coming downstairs, Kiryu Hina, who was nestled in the living room sofa reading a book, looked up and flipped the book upside down on her thighs, "You're leaving? So soon."
"There's nothing to do at home, so it shouldn't be a problem if I go over a bit early." Kagura Hikaru glanced at the time and shrugged.
"I wanted you to stay and watch a movie with me, at home."
"Even if I agreed, I would have to leave halfway through, which would be pointless."
Kiryu Hina puffed up her cheeks, obviously not thinking the same.
Having spent a lot of time with Kagura Hikaru in the same room, the former Student Council President had become somewhat cuter in private, revealing some of the coquettish expressions from her early days of dating.
But she was no longer a little middle school girl, and upon hearing Kagura Hikaru's insistence on leaving, she just flipped the book back over and said with a slight sulk, "Then go, just remember to bring a gift back. Without it, don't bother coming home."
"I'll try to steal an ashtray from the Ruzaki's house."
"Who taught you to take 'gifts' like that, and besides, no one at home even smokes!"
"Heh, I know."
Kagura Hikaru deliberately pulled at the corners of his mouth, but it only made his 'smile' look even more bizarre.
Kiryu Hina's lips twitched, and she gave a small pout, unable to hold back a sigh, "Don't force it if you can't smile, it's scaring."
"Just practicing, I'm off now."
Kagura Hikaru gave a nod of his chin, turned his head with an awkward smile, slipped on his shoes, and left.
The longer he stayed at the Kiryu house, the more he and Kiryu Hina began to slowly pick up the way they interacted back when they were dating—one significant change was that they were now joking with each other.
Just that it brought a new problem, which was that their relationship wasn't necessarily that good, as the conflicts of the past were never truly resolved.
And now he couldn't smile naturally, which meant conversations often ended with 'pure awkwardness' or 'awkwardness of a bad joke.'
Today was just pure awkwardness—better to call it a bad joke, I suppose, since at least a dead silence could be considered a part of a show's effect.
Kagura Hikaru descended the stairs, rode the tram to the bus, and after an hour and a half, arrived at the Rosaki Family's door.
Their home was in the suburbs, not very close to the city center, which was the troublesome part.
But there was a stretch of mountain road to traverse before reaching the mansion, a straight asphalt path flanked by woods. There was a little bit of rain yesterday, the air was fresh, and if you looked up, there was a spectacular sky of blue with white clouds, bathed in radiant sunlight.
How should I say this, it's like the perfect weather for going out on a trip or camping, just sitting on the mountaintop and taking in the view, Kagura Hikaru could do that all day.
So he did rather envy the Rosaki household's environment, although he also understood just how expensive it must be to live in such a place, a figure beyond what ordinary people could afford.
Upon arriving at the mansion's entrance, he rang the doorbell from behind the fence and announced who he was.
Shortly after, a middle-aged maid came out from the mansion to greet Kagura Hikaru and let him in, her mouth curved in a smile as she said, "Mr. Kagura, you've come quite early today."
"I got up early—nothing to do, hope I'm not bothering you."
"Not at all, Miss Rozaki will be very happy to see you," the maid laughed behind her hand.
Kagura Hikaru: "?"
He had a sense that there was more to the maid's words.
It was as though she implied Ruzaki Mami had some special relationship with him—could it really be that from time immemorial, maids and servants loved to gossip?
Entering the mansion, Kagura Hikaru sat down in the living room with the maid's guidance. She poured him a cup of tea and then went upstairs to call for Ruzaki Mami.
Rozaki's parents seemed to be out today, or maybe they were in, but unseen. During his many visits, he had only seen Luzaki's mother during the first few lessons, and then it was just him and Ruzaki Mami.
It appeared his teaching was being well-received.

After taking just a couple sips of tea, he heard footsteps coming from the stairs.
He looked up to see a cute little face, a petite figure not particularly voluptuous, with long hair sloppily draped over her shoulders, some strands messily sticking out as if she had just gotten out of bed, still wearing a pale blue nightgown with white trimmings.
"Ai Cheng." Kagura Hikaru greeted.
"Good morning, Kagura."
Ai Cheng Karen, somewhat embarrassed, smoothed her hair and quickly said, "I'm going to wash up," before hurrying upstairs.
She had just gotten out of bed, merely coming down to say hello.
After another wait, Ruzaki Mami came down.
Today, she had changed into a white dress that was quite transparent when the sunlight hit, revealing her figure was unmistakably visible beneath it; but don't get the wrong idea, it wasn't any sort of intimate apparel, as there was a non-transparent layer underneath.
She had her hair tied back in twin ponytails and after greeting Kagura Hikaru, she blushed, sat across from him, as the maid served a plate with bread and milk in front of her. She began to eat in the living room while chatting with Kagura Hikaru.
"Mr. Kagura, today, today's weather is really nice, isn't it"
"Yes," Kagura Hikaru sipped his tea, glancing through the living room's floor-to-ceiling window at the outside view, indicating his agreement.
Come on, come on, me!
Ruzaki Mami sneaked peeks at Kagura Hikaru drinking his tea, psyching herself up.
Today, she was going to confess!
