After Stealing Hero's Mother, I Reincarnated in the Fantasy World!

Chapter 87: Latest preparations, bets and rumours

As soon as his opponent, Donat, showed himself, Rain raised his eyebrows.

Now he understood what Olivia had meant about his features. Or should I say not understood, but felt?

A faint vibration, noticeable to the naked eye, echoed from every step Donat took across the arena.

His opponent was the same fat guy he'd seen when he'd come to the nobles' dining hall. And remembering his skills, Rain was a little wary.

Being able to occupy 3 chairs at once while eating a year's worth of food?

Pretty scary.

Seeing that the second contestant had arrived, one of the instructors called out to Rain. When he approached, he immediately turned his attention to his opponent.

The one was slightly out of breath, as after a light jog, and looked displeased.

'Don't tell me he ran here from the dining hall?'

Thinking back to where he had last seen him, it seemed rather plausible.

Rain assessed his opponent once more.

His body was huge in size, and his weight was hard to determine at first glance. It seemed that at some point in his life he had chosen to grow wide rather than upward.

From the side he looked like a small hill.

[Oh? His bloodline is quite interesting.]

Suddenly the system showed up, seemingly having already recovered from their last conversation.

[Do you want to know about it?]

'No.'

Without much enthusiasm, Rain replied.

As for the reason?

He just didn't want to.

While it might have helped him, he hadn't used the status feature on any of his current opponents.

Definitely, knowing all of the enemy's hidden cards ahead of time would make any fight much easier, faster, and more predictable.

But if he had to use everything he had against such opponents, how would he be able to grow further?

The system was an amazing thing that gave him countless possibilities, but Rain didn't want to rely on its help too much. He preferred to develop his power independently of it and adjust to the changing situation.

Of course, he wasn't going to foolishly hide his power, nor was he going to immediately reveal all his cards.

'And yet it is unfortunate. Despite all the development of my bloodline, it still hasn't given me a single active ability.'

Instincts and keen senses were good, but Rain was hungry for more as always.

Thinking back to the same manipulation of Lamel's cloth, it already seemed like something. And in front of him now stood another opponent who, according to the system, had an even more unique bloodline.

'I really feel like a beggar.'

Rain remarked self-ironically.

[I know you don't like that word, but be patient. The potential of your bloodline is far greater than these mediocre things. Even if you feel like you're lagging behind in this regard right now, things will change dramatically when your bloodline gives you your first fruits. You definitely won't regret it].

As the system said this, the instructors finally complied with all safety regulations, activating the bracelets on the wrists of both participants. The bracelets glowed with a faint blue light, beginning to adjust and bind to their projections, which would protect the participants from damage during the fight by taking it upon themselves.

Because of Donat's size, it lasted a little longer than usual.

At this time, a group of elven women led by Mythralin approached Rain with slightly concerned faces.

"Are you sure you can win?"

"He looks scary..."

"Are there such men among humans?"

"What are you talking about?! He's gonna win for sure!!!"

Only Lapielle showed no apprehension, being absolutely certain of his victory.

"If I had the money, I'd have bet it all on Rain by now!!!"

"That's the reason you're not getting them."

"Boohoo..."

Lapielle deflated once more at her answer.

"I'm fine. Rather than worrying about the fight, why don't you think about where we can spend our time after it's over? I hope we'll still be able to chat all together, with your princess."

A sly smile slid across his lips.

"Yes! Yes!"

Lapielle quickly agreed, which the other elven women picked up on.

At the same time, a heated discussion broke out among the audience.

"Oh my God, I can't look at it!"

"He's going to eat that pretty boy alive!"

"He's so young... it's too soon for him to die..."

Several of the girls turned away, unable to look at it.

"Can we go out in his place?"

"Can we take him for ourselves before he dies? As his older battle sister, I promise I'll take good care of him..."

There were even a few older female faculty members who nodded approvingly.

There were similar excited screams coming from all directions. Of course, it was mostly women.....

The male part of the audience had a slightly different opinion.

"Elf Fucker."

"I hope he dies the most agonizing of deaths."

Their reaction was understandable and natural. Many of them had to watch with bloodshot eyes how instead of cold rejection and complete ignoring, a whole crowd of elven women were chatting with him in a friendly way. They even went easy on the bodily contact with him, something these guys hadn't even dreamed of in their wildest fantasies.

They were curious to know what spell Rain had used to accomplish this, but they were afraid to hear that it was all about his handsome face...

It was especially painful to see the youngest, the sweetest elfess of them, chatting so playfully and affectionately with him.

"I don't even know her name..."

"The last time I approached her, she asked if any of my ancestors were monkeys..."

Someone was suffering.

"It was the same with me. Eh, maybe in their elven culture a monkey means a strong, charismatic man I'd like to sleep with?"

Someone tried to deny reality.

"But you do look a bit like a monkey."

And someone was bringing them back to reality.

"Just that he's a bit handsome... and popular with women… and a pretty good fighter... doesn't make him the best... or does it?"

And someone was looking for that meaning in everything.

The girl that Rain had defeated in one of the matches was also here. Her friend was hitting on her right now, occasionally casting secret glances in his direction.

"Liz, I thought you said you've fought him before? Do you think he can win?"

Her friend's face creased at those words, almost screaming.

"Don't be fooled by his handsome face, he is a rude, shameless and dishonorable villain with no martial nobility! During our fight, he didn't even listen to me properly and attacked me under the radar. If it wasn't for that, it would be me who would be on the stage right now. Also, he..."

The girl ignored her losing friend's further screaming and whining, muttering.

"Maybe I should bet on him..."

There were many more people with a wide variety of emotions.

"Donat? That name suits him perfectly."

"What can he even do with that handsome man in black? Eat him?"

Some were skeptical.

"You don't understand anything. It's Donat Edodes."

And as always, there were people who knew more than others.

The smart looking guy with glasses continued with a knowing look.

"Although he does look... ahem... 'a bit' fat, he's strong. In fact, I'd even bet on him if it weren't for the fact that the dining hall attracts him much more than winning the tournament."

"After all, he is from the Edodes family. You're aware of the kind of training they've been undergoing since they were kids, right?"

"With their bloodlines, it's no surprise he made it this far in the tournament."

"What about the handsome man in black?"

Asked someone from outside.

"He?"

The guy with glasses shifted his gaze to a slender guy with dark hair standing calmly in his position.

"I think his name was... Rain?"

"To be honest, this time I really don't know. Although the Winderline family is known, he himself is a Dark Horse."

"But since he's gotten to this point, he must be able to do something?"

Quickly he added, to restore his reputation as a knowledgeable man.

"Maybe it's just luck..."

Some disagreed with him, not believing in Rain's abilities.

Looking around, one of the girls leaned close to her friend, who was already taking a long time to choose which of the contestants she should bet on.

"It's not directly related to his power, but I've actually heard some rumors about him."

"What's that?"

"That's classified information, so you have to promise you won't tell anyone."

When her friend nodded, she looked around once more and leaned close to her.

"I heard he has a big dick."

"..."

Her friend looked at her in disbelief.

The rest of us were just thinking about how to make money from it.

"I bet on Donat, he is like a fat rock, nothing can go through him."

"Rain looks too calm. I don't trust him."

"Rain, right? If he could make my friend scream like that, I guess I'll have to bet on him."

But regardless of all these voices, one thing remained constant – the fight between the two fighters was about to begin.

As the bracelets locked onto their projections, they picked up their weapons.

Although Donat didn't say anything, once he picked up his war hammer, his gaze changed drastically. His previous disinterest in this fight was gone, and he now looked at Rain as an opponent he was going to crush immediately .

...or like an appetising chop he was seeing for the first time.

Rain and Donat face each other in the arena. Rain stands lightly on his feet, Unknown Sword held loosely at his side, his expression calm. Donat, in contrast, is breathing heavily even before the fight begins, his grip tight on his war hammer.

As soon as the signal to start was given, the loud sound of clashing steel was heard everywhere.
