"Alpha Shadows: Forbidden Shackles"

Chapter 18: Shadows Within the Wolf Kingdom

The Wolf Kingdom

In the heart of the Wolf Kingdom, the Alpha King sat upon his throne, his gaze lost in the void, yet his mind drowned in the past-a past that refused to release him.

The heavy silence of the royal hall was broken by the soft sound of approaching footsteps. Queen Sophia entered gracefully, her presence commanding yet gentle. She moved to his side, placing a reassuring hand on his shoulder, her voice a delicate balance of warmth and authority:

"Don't let anger blind you. The sorcerers are cunning, waiting for us to fall into the trap of a reckless mistake. We need to be wiser."

The Alpha remained silent, her words settling within him like ripples on a still lake. Then, in a voice both low and unreadable, he finally responded:

"Not them, my Queen... Not this time."

Sophia arched an eyebrow, her voice firm with conviction.

"It's them, my dear! Can't you see? They will never stop their games. We must eliminate them before they get the chance to weaken us!"

The Alpha remained silent, her words sinking into his mind like ancient magic, stirring something deep within him.

Sophia took a step closer, her tone dropping to a sharper, almost dangerous whisper:

"Have you forgotten the past? Have you forgotten what they did the moment you rose to power? They tried to overthrow you! If fate hadn't been on our side, we would be dead by now! Don't let them distract you!"

The Alpha inhaled deeply, his eyes darkening with an ominous glow. He was never one to voice his doubts, but Sophia's words carried a weight that couldn't be ignored.

A slow realization settled over him, an undeniable truth forming in his mind.

"You're right."

It wasn't an admission of defeat-no, it was something far more dangerous. It was a decision.

Sophia's lips curled into a knowing smile, her eyes glinting with quiet cunning.

"Of course I am. And we won't just sit idly by."

She leaned in slightly, her next words a mere murmur laced with meaning.

"We have our own witches, too. Don't forget that."

The Alpha mulled over her words, his thoughts turning like storm clouds gathering on the horizon.

Then, with a slow nod, he made his choice.

"I will summon the mages loyal to us. They will move through the shadows, follow every lead, uncover every secret. If there's a threat lurking... we will find it first."

His gaze locked onto Sophia's, heavy with unspoken resolve.

"I will not allow history to repeat itself."

Sophia's smile deepened, satisfied. Without another word, she turned and strode from the hall, her presence lingering long after she had gone.

The Alpha remained seated, his fingers tightening around the armrests of his throne. His breath slowed, steady but heavy under the weight of the decision he had just made.

And yet... something tugged at him. A quiet whisper from the depths of his mind. A feeling he couldn't shake.

A warning from the past.

A premonition of what was to come.

But the worst didn't wait long...

It was already here.

A sudden eruption of chaos shattered the fragile silence of the palace. Loud noises echoed through the halls-screams, hurried footsteps, the sharp clang of weapons being drawn. It was as if a storm had swept through, shaking the very foundation of the kingdom.

Before the Alpha could fully grasp the situation, a soldier burst into the throne room, his breathing ragged, tension written all over his face. He fell to one knee, his voice tight with urgency.

"Your Majesty! We found two bodies... one inside the palace, the other outside!"

A deadly stillness settled over the Alpha. His muscles tensed, his golden eyes narrowing into slits.

The soldier swallowed, his voice laced with unease.

"There is chaos spreading among the soldiers... Panic is creeping in!"

For a moment, there was no response. But it wasn't the silence of confusion. It was the silence before a storm.

The Alpha remained motionless, yet an invisible force radiated from him-powerful, seething, on the brink of eruption. When he finally spoke, his voice was ice-cold, carrying the weight of an impending reckoning.

"Take me to them."

---

The scene awaiting him was worse than he had imagined.

Two bodies lay before him, their faces frozen in sheer horror. Wide, unblinking eyes stared into nothingness, their expressions forever etched in silent screams. No wounds. No blood. No signs of struggle. It was as if something had drained the very essence of life from them.

The Alpha's gaze darkened, his breath halting as recognition struck him like a blade.

These were not ordinary soldiers.

They were his men-his most loyal warriors. The ones who had fought by his side in the darkest of battles.

A slow, burning fury ignited within him. His hands clenched into fists, claws digging into his palms, but he barely felt the pain.

This was no mere attack.

This was a message.

He turned to Eamon, his voice laced with quiet but lethal rage.

"This isn't just an assassination. Someone is trying to shake the foundation of my rule."

Khoury's eyes hardened, his voice sharp as steel.

"But who would dare? Who would do such a thing?"

The Alpha inhaled deeply, his fury simmering beneath the surface. Earlier, he had been convinced that the mages were behind this treachery. But now... Now he knew better.

"It's not the mages."

His gaze lifted toward the darkness beyond the palace walls, his mind racing. There was someone else in play, lurking unseen, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

"Someone is trying to distract me. To turn my kingdom against itself."

His voice dropped, thick with a promise of retribution.

"I will find them... and they will beg for mercy before the end."

Yet, beneath the fire of his rage, a single chilling thought gnawed at him.

How did this happen inside my own borders?

And worse... how did they manage to infiltrate my palace itself?

The hunt had begun.

Questions:

1. Who could be responsible for the mysterious deaths inside the palace, and what is their true motive?

2. How will the Alpha King handle this new threat, and will his trust in Sophia lead him to the right path—or into a deeper trap?
