America Tycoon: The Wolf of Showbiz

Chapter 840: British System_2

Rebecca said, "We're The Sun, we're not afraid of the French!"

Dominic pressed the intercom and said to his assistant, "Call a meeting with all the senior staff in conference room one in half an hour. Anyone who doesn't have critical business must attend."

Rebecca was very clear that this was to be treated as the top headline of the week's first page.

After careful verification, the editorial department of The Sun unanimously decided to expose the matter that day.

The evidence provided by the Ukrainians was simply too solid.

There didn't even need for The Sun to collect any more on its own.

Though Ukraine had declined, as the country with the second-largest territory and the seventh-largest population in Europe, the force that could be unleashed from its violent institutions was still formidable.

In mid-September 2013, the news suddenly released by The Sun broke the calm of Europe, thrusting the French into the eye of the storm.

"Europe's most perverted fashion mogul Jean Luc Brunel's criminal empire!"

"Jean Luc Brunel's Carly Model Company discovered countless supermodels, renowned worldwide in fashion circles, but also lured thousands of models as sex slaves, resulting in many going missing."

Besides the front page, The Sun devoted almost an entire issue to listing Jean Luc Brunel's crimes and evidence.

Starting as early as 1980 and continuing until 2013, it involved the underground trading of thousands of models, or more accurately, young women. A portion of these were fortunate to return to normal lives after being discarded, but many more remained unaccounted for.

The insidious English didn't need to exaggerate the details to throw countless scandals onto the heads of the French elite.

"There is concrete evidence that Brunel, using attractive young women as gifts, has presented them numerous times to heavyweight figures in French politics and business circles, engaging in myriad despicable acts. His wealth, along with these special relationships, has ensured that judicial investigations into his exposed wrongdoing have repeatedly led to nothing!"

These were just the beginning, which was followed by a list of Brunel's aggressive pursuits, and most importantly, the trafficking of minors.

"This devil promised young girls a dream of modeling with a contract but secretly sold them away..."

The Sun started the campaign, and the rest of the British media immediately followed. Fighting the French for hundreds of years, from physical war to media war, the mutual grievances between the two sides could take months to untangle.

Just like the current "Insult England" and "Insult France" campaigns, it had almost become a habit for public opinion in both countries.

As Western Europe was in turmoil, Alexandrovich was not to be left out.

He gathered like-minded partners in Ukraine and founded the Servant of the People Party, claiming to speak for the ordinary citizens of Ukraine.

Soon, Alexandrovich accepted an exclusive interview with the BBC, waving the banners of "Ukrainian lives matter too" and women's rights, publicly accusing the French authorities of inaction and covering up Brunel's crimes against humanity.

Faced with public pressure, the previously silent French authorities announced an investigation into the matter.

But that's as far as it went for the time being.

The French had made their stance, whether the investigation would produce results was another matter.

...

New York, Long Island.

In a seaside villa, a middle-aged man with gray hair walked along the stone path by the garden.

A woman came over and said, "Jeffrey, they're going to make a symbolic investigation in France, and Luc will push a few scapegoats forward."

"Those Ukrainian maniacs, how did they think of using the British media to play such a dirty trick on the French?" Jeffrey Epstein couldn't help shaking his head: "It's indeed a masterstroke, utilizing the longstanding animosity between the British and the French."

Ghis Laine said, "That Ukrainian has been jumping around a lot lately."

Jeffrey remembered the name: "Alexandrovich, a prominent Ukrainian activist with a lot of support."

Ghis Laine reminded, "Our channels in Ukraine have been severely affected, should we..."

"Are you crazy?" Jeffrey interrupted her: "Behind that Ukrainian maniac, there might be the Ukrainian Security Bureau, or even more forces, from the national level! You think any of our clients will help us if we openly confront such official powers?"

He saw things very clearly: "The business we do, the operations our company is involved in, can't be brought to light. Once fully exposed, we'll have enemies everywhere, and our dearest clients will be the first ones who will want to deal with us."

Ghis Laine thought of the situation in France: "What if someone in France really wants to investigate Brunel?"

Jeffrey said, "Luc is a good friend we've known for more than twenty years. Even if the investigation reaches him, I believe Luc won't betray his partners."

But Ghis Laine didn't believe it. These people who were used to enjoying good fortune could do it together, but hardly took the blame alone.

Jeffrey said calmly, "Don't worry, when the crucial time comes, Luc will prove this with his life."

Ghis Laine understood immediately, first relieved, then worried again. When the critical time came in the future, would she also have to prove it with her life?

She didn't dwell on this issue too much before Jeffrey added, "Stop the island's operations for now. We keep a low profile in the short term. However, keep the Latin American product channels running as usual; their chaos is no less than in Eastern Europe."

Ghis Laine responded, "Alright, I'll notify them right away." Just as she was about to leave, she remembered something else: "I've already called Los Angeles, told that waste Michel to halt all operations in Eastern Europe."
