Chapter 557: 557. Outsiders Not Belonging to Asgard.

"Odin's body should still contain an immense amount of divine power. He's even within Asgard—under these circumstances, how could anyone possibly defeat him?"

Alex frowned, staring in confusion at Odin's remains.

[Theoretically, that should be the case. But according to the records, this Odin was already nearing the end of his lifespan. Moreover, he was in the Odinsleep, which left him extremely vulnerable.]

Miss Minutes leaped from Alex's arms and stood atop Odin's corpse.

"Could it be that the battle Red Skull triggered back then accidentally disrupted Odin's Odinsleep? That would have forced him to wake up before fully recovering to his peak," Alex speculated, rubbing his chin.

[That seems very likely. The Aesir grow stronger with age. Odin was at his most powerful just before his natural death. But clearly, his ritual was interrupted.]

"For something to wake Odin from his deep slumber, Asgard itself must have been on the brink of annihilation. Red Skull really left me with a mess to clean up…"

Alex let out a deep sigh. "If only Thor and Loki were still here… At least then, the Aesir wouldn't be completely wiped out."

[Technically speaking, Loki was a Frost Giant's child, so he wasn't actually part of the Aesir.]

Miss Minutes pointed out the inaccuracy in Alex's statement before raising a finger and continuing:

[Also, Master, I must remind you—Asgard isn't the only thing here.]

Alex was momentarily stunned. His brows furrowed slightly. "What do you mean?"

[Right now, Asgard has no divine energy left. The corpses here also have no energy residue, which is why your senses were deceived. But they can't fool me.]

Miss Minutes pulled out a pair of glasses from who-knows-where and put them on her round face, explaining to Alex in a serious tone:

[I've scanned most of Asgard's structures and found some very interesting things. Even though these beings have also been drained of their energy, I can confirm—they absolutely do not belong to Asgard.]

"Where are they?" Alex asked without hesitation.

[Three kilometers from here, in the forest outside the palace.]

Hearing this, Alex immediately stood up and looked in the direction Miss Minutes pointed.

In the distance, beyond the ruined city, a patch of green stood out starkly—likely the royal garden built by Queen Frigga. Originally, it only housed plants from the Nine Realms, but over time, flora from numerous civilizations across the universe had been transplanted there.

"Keep an eye on Billy and the others," Alex instructed quietly.

[Don't worry. They're busy collecting relics from the fallen gods. Even though they no longer hold divine power, the materials themselves are still valuable. At least, that's what those three believe.]

"Alright. Let me know immediately if anything happens."

After giving a small nod, Alex shot into the air, swiftly flying toward the forest beyond the palace.

Winter had completely overtaken Asgard. Even Frigga's garden was no exception—it lay buried under a thick blanket of snow. However, the accumulation here was noticeably shallower than in other parts of the realm.

Perhaps this was the only place in Asgard untouched by the war.

As Alex zipped through the trees, he soon spotted the beings Miss Minutes had referred to—the ones that absolutely did not belong to Asgard.

In front of him were several creatures covered in black fur. They had ram-like horns on their heads, bat-like wings on their backs, and their lower halves were buried beneath the frozen ground.

"Demons?!"

Alex's eyes flickered with surprise. Even though these creatures had been completely drained of their energy, he could still identify them.

"These are demons from the borders of Hell. I saw similar ones before in Mephisto's domain—though only from a distance. I never expected to encounter them again here…"

At first glance, Alex instinctively assumed these demons were responsible for Asgard's downfall. After all, Hell's border dimensions and the divine realms had always been at odds.

Ever since Odin banished Hela to Helheim, she had fought her way to dominance over one of the borderlands of Hell, becoming a dimensional ruler on par with Mephisto.

Previously, when numerous supervillains waged war against Earth's superheroes, the demons of Hell had clearly been stirring as well. It was impossible for them to ignore such a golden opportunity to claim a piece of the chaos. However, Alex quickly dismissed that assumption.

Just like the Asgardians, these demons had also been drained of all their energy. Clearly, the same entity was responsible for both massacres.

[Master, I don't think demons are the only ones here.]

At that moment, Miss Minutes perched on Alex's shoulder, her expression unusually complex. She then raised a hand and pointed in another direction.

[I think you should take a look over there.]

Although he found it odd that Miss Minutes didn't just tell him outright, Alex didn't overthink it. He immediately flew toward the indicated location.

On the vast snowy plains, several pieces of strangely shaped armor lay scattered across the snow, as if they had been discarded without care, gradually being buried by the snowfall.

Had it not been for Alex's powerful Watcher's Eye, he might not have noticed these remnants so quickly.

"What is this?"

Curious, Alex moved closer, crouching down to pick up one of the pieces.

To call it armor wasn't entirely accurate—it was more like clothing, but incredibly resilient. Its design and material were clearly neither Asgardian nor of Earthly origin.

Most importantly, the owners of these garments had completely vanished—without a trace, without a sign of struggle. The way the clothing was scattered seemed… natural, as if whoever had worn them had simply teleported away, leaving their clothes behind.

[Master, there are no records of this in the Timepad's archives. Have you discovered anything?]

Miss Minutes leaped out, her large eyes blinking as she examined the garments alongside Alex.

"Miss, tell me—what are the odds that a group of people came here, stripped naked, placed their clothes in an arranged manner, and then suddenly disappeared into thin air?" Alex asked instead of answering directly.

Miss Minutes pondered for a moment before shaking her head.

[Unless they were insane or under the influence of some special energy, such a scenario is impossible.]

"I think so too. Which leaves us with only one possibility." Alex casually tossed the garment back onto the snow. "Do you remember our main objective here?"

[You mean the unknown entity capable of devouring energy—just like you?]

"Exactly. We know that thing has already begun targeting all magical dimensions, consuming every energy-based being it encounters. Now, what if the owners of these clothes were energy-based lifeforms themselves?" Alex crossed his arms, deep in thought.

Miss Minutes's eyes widened in realization. [You mean—!?]

Alex smirked, though it was unclear whether it was one of irony or pity.

"The Faltine. Pure energy beings native to a magical dimension. Their entire existence is made of pure magical energy. There was once a being like them—exiled by its own kind—who later stumbled into the Dark Dimension."

[Dormammu.]

Miss Minutes immediately identified the entity.

Alex gave a small nod. "Dormammu's power rivals Odin's, if not surpasses it. He has always sought to consume other dimensions into the Dark Dimension."

[Could Dormammu be the culprit?]

"Impossible." Alex shook his head. "If Dormammu were responsible, Asgard would not have remained intact. This place would have already become part of the Dark Dimension. Moreover…"

[Moreover what?]

Miss Minutes looked at Alex inquisitively.

"…Don't you find it strange? Why would beings from other dimensions gather in Asgard? The Faltine, I can understand, but even demons from the Hell came here."

Alex furrowed his brows, his expression growing grim.

"The key issue is that these dimensions have lost their spatial coordinates. They've been severed from reality itself, their connections shattered. In such a chaotic state, they shouldn't have been able to find each other so quickly."

Meanwhile, on the other side of Asgard…

Under the leadership of Brainstorm, Powerhouse and Billy Batson had also made some unusual discoveries.

"What is this thing?" Billy eyed the tablet in Brainstorm's hands curiously.

"This is a tool I prepared for this mission. It detects energy signatures in the area so we won't miss any crucial clues." Brainstorm explained without looking up.

"And you think this dead place has enough signal for you to scan energy signatures?" Billy frowned.

Brainstorm sighed in exasperation. "Not everything relies on signals or networks. Think of this more like sonar—everything in existence has a unique vibrational frequency. This device helps distinguish between them."

As they spoke, the screen on Brainstorm's tablet suddenly flickered to life.

In the midst of the green-toned scanning display, several red dots appeared, blinking continuously.

Seeing this, Brainstorm abruptly stopped walking.

"Huh? That's strange…"

"What's wrong?" Powerhouse asked.

Billy also leaned in, peering at the high-tech screen with curiosity.

Brainstorm furrowed his brows, silent for a moment before slowly speaking.

"There's something ahead… Judging from the wavelengths, it doesn't seem to be of Asgardian origin."
