Since its launch, League of Legends has introduced a total of 169 champions.

In the official lore of the League universe, these 169 champions are divided based on their respective regions of origin.

Of course, some champions' stories take place across various parts of Runeterra, making it difficult to pinpoint their exact origins, so they are placed within the broader framework of Runeterra.

Neeko, the Curious Chameleon, was born in Ionia but is categorized as belonging to Ixtal in the lore.

Therefore, for Link, Neeko appearing in Ionia or Ixtal wouldn't be surprising.

But for her to appear in Bilgewater?

That's strange!

The blue light in Link's eyes formed a ring, encircling his pupils, allowing him to see the scene below more clearly.

Neeko, completely unaware of how dangerous her current actions were, remained perched on the mast, curiously looking around and observing this city-state that was so different from her homeland.

The harbor, the docks, the sailors, the merchants, and even the giant rats lurking in the shadows fascinated her.

However, in Bilgewater, a Vastaya like her was akin to a walking gold coin.

Unlike the Twin Cities, which strived to become a true city of progress and welcomed all races, including the Vastaya, seeing a Vastaya in Bilgewater was unusual.

In the outside world, Vastaya were walking treasures.

Not only did they possess unique appearances distinct from humans, but they might also wield primal wild magic.

And for those with particular tastes, they were even more valuable.

Vastaya demi-humans with cat ears, rabbit ears, or horse ears were often the most sought-after commodities for slave traders.

Of course, some also had a preference for furry male Vastaya.

Where there was demand, there was a market, and where there was a market, there was profit. And where there was profit, people would take risks!

Thus, Neeko's bold and careless behavior was extremely dangerous.

"Neeko—" Link murmured to himself. Neeko's racial ability allowed her to sense the emotions, intentions, and memories of other beings by touching their "soul-light," and she could even transform into them.

This was the source of her passive ability in the game. As for her QWER abilities, they stemmed from the wild magic she wielded as a member of the Oovi-Kat tribe.

She could easily walk into an alley with six legs and come out with two.

The colorful patterns on her body were traces left by wild magic.

In fact, many champions in the League universe bore similar marks. For example, the streaks on Kai'Sa's face were signs of Void energy corruption, the fox-like whisker patterns on Ahri's face were traces of wild magic, and the markings on Ezreal's face were remnants of arcane magic.

As the last of the Oovi-Kat tribe, Neeko possessed talents unmatched in her tribe's history. Moreover, the wild magic she wielded gave her limitless potential. If properly nurtured, she could become a powerful ally.

For him, and for House Ferros, she would be a valuable asset.

The challenge, however, was how to bring her into his fold.

"Father, are you interested in her?" Pride, sensing Link's thoughts, bent down and asked, "Should I go capture her for you?"

Seeing Pride's eagerness, Link withdrew his gaze and gave his eldest son, who always sought to impress him, a light smack on the head. "Your father isn't a tyrant who snatches up everything he fancies!"

"However—" Link's tone shifted, "Such a talented and adorable girl shouldn't be left wandering alone. It'd be a shame."

"Then I'll—"

"No." Link raised his hand to stop Pride and cast another glance downward.

Link looked back at the mast. Neeko was still standing on it, while a Vastaya sailor with goat horns was scolding her from below, seemingly trying to get her to come down.

Though his expression seemed stern, his intentions were good.

Even though Bilgewater was a melting pot of cultures and races, a rare Vastaya like Neeko was like a gold nugget in a pile of gravel—exceptionally rare and eye-catching.

A Vastaya could fetch a hefty sum of gold, and many in the harbor were already eyeing the Ionian merchant ship. Neeko, perched on the mast and curiously observing everything, was their most coveted target.

The filth and darkness of human hearts could never be erased, and a pure, adorable Vastaya girl like Neeko would inevitably attract much covetousness.

Standing on the dock, Link watched as Neeko reluctantly climbed down from the mast, her tail being held by the Vastaya sailor as she was ushered into the ship's cabin.

"Hah, so it's this point in time."

Seeing the goat-horned Vastaya, Link suddenly understood.

According to Neeko's backstory, after her homeland was destroyed, she transformed into a bird and fled for days before falling into the sea.

After drifting for a while, she was picked up by an Ionian merchant ship and eventually disembarked at the port of Harel in Ixtal, venturing into the jungle.

There, she met Nidalee, the Bestial Huntress, who walked into an alley with two legs and came out with four.

Later, after Neeko's consciousness awakened and she parted ways with Nidalee, she accidentally destroyed a Noxian outpost while searching for a few pieces of cheese bread.

The process involved Neeko using her innate shapeshifting ability to repeatedly try to get the outpost's inhabitants to tell her where the storeroom was so she could find some cheese bread.

In the end, the paranoid and suspicious people in the outpost brought about their own destruction.

Based on Link's speculation, Neeko was likely on the merchant ship because it had stopped in Bilgewater for supplies. Unable to contain her curiosity, she climbed onto the mast to observe this unfamiliar city.

Now that he had pinpointed the timeline, recruiting her would be much easier.

"Let's go, Pride."

Link turned and left the dock. Pride glanced at the harbor below, exhaled a hot breath, and followed Link into the airship.

Once inside, Link headed straight to the kitchen.

The chefs and kitchen assistants here were all spies from House Ferros.

House Ferros trained its spies comprehensively, somewhat reminiscent of Noxian methods.

That is, they were trained based on their talents and aptitudes.

If someone was suited to be a craftsman, they were trained in technical skills.

If someone was suited to be a warrior, they were trained in combat.

If someone was suited to be a chef, they were trained in logistics.

House Ferros didn't belittle or suppress its spies due to differences in talent. Instead, they were given different development paths based on their abilities.

"Sir—" The head chef, a spy, greeted Link as he entered. "How may I assist you?"

"Can you make cheesecake?"

Link glanced around the well-organized kitchen. The head chef nodded firmly. "I know how to make thirteen different types of cheese-based desserts. Which one would you like?"

"The one with the richest aroma and the best texture. Do you have that?"

"Yes!"

"Then make ten pounds of it." Link added, "Remember, it must be the most fragrant one. Understood?"
