Chapter 2: The First Step

Chapter 2: The First Step

Morning came with a chill that clung to my skin. The makeshift shelter I had cobbled together barely did anything to keep out the night's cold, but it was better than nothing. As I sat up, stretching my sore muscles, I was reminded of one truth—I was alive.

And that meant I had work to do.

Survival wasn't just about staying alive; it was about moving forward. I had to evolve.

My stomach growled, protesting against the lack of food. Water wasn't an issue since I had found the stream, but I needed to eat. My body was already weaker than it should be, and if I wanted to start using chakra, I needed energy.

'Step one: food. Step two: chakra training.'

I got up, scanning my surroundings. The jungle was alive with noise—birds chirping, insects buzzing, the rustling of leaves in the distance. If there were birds, there were animals. If there were animals, there was food.

Time to hunt.

Hunting wasn't easy. In the shows and movies, people made it look so simple. Trap an animal, shoot an arrow, stab it with a knife. Reality was different. I had no weapons, no traps, and barely any experience.

But I had knowledge.

I started by sharpening a sturdy branch into a crude spear using a jagged rock. It wasn't much, but it was something. As I moved through the underbrush, I kept my footsteps light, using my heightened awareness to listen for movement. It took nearly two hours before I spotted my first target—a wild boar grazing near a fallen tree.

My grip tightened on the spear. I needed to be smart. A direct charge would get me killed; boars were fast, aggressive, and deadly if provoked. I slowed my breathing, moving quietly to get into position.

This was it.

I launched the spear with all my strength. It struck, but not deep enough. The boar squealed in pain and turned, charging at me with furious speed. My instincts screamed at me to run, but something inside me clicked. The warmth in my gut surged, and before I knew it, my legs moved on their own—

I jumped. Higher than I should have been able to.

The boar missed, crashing into the brush. I landed, stumbling but exhilarated. That wasn't normal. That was chakra.

'It's working.'

The boar was still alive, thrashing as it tried to escape. I wasted no time, grabbing a heavy rock and slamming it down onto its skull. A sickening crack followed, and the boar went still.

I was breathing hard, heart racing, but I had done it. My first kill.

Skinning and preparing the boar was another struggle, but I managed. The meat cooked over a crude fire, the smell filling the air as I ate my first real meal in what felt like days.

With food in my stomach and energy restored, it was time for the next step—chakra control.

I sat cross-legged, focusing on the energy inside me. I remembered every episode of Naruto where chakra control was mentioned. The tree-climbing exercise, the water-walking technique, the meditations. The key was control, precision, and balance.

I started with deep breathing, trying to feel my chakra. The warmth was there, pulsing in my core, but it was chaotic, unrefined. I needed to mold it, shape it. I tried to direct it to my hands, to my legs, to my entire body.

Nothing happened.

Frustration bubbled up, but I forced myself to stay calm. Chakra wasn't just about willpower; it required discipline. I needed to start smaller.

So I tried something simpler—focusing chakra into my fingers. I imagined it flowing like water, gathering at my fingertips.

A spark. A brief tingling sensation.

My eyes widened. Progress.

It wasn't much, but it was a start.

The next few hours were spent refining that control. I repeated the exercise, feeling the energy move through me in small bursts. It was exhausting, more than I expected, but every time I felt that warmth respond, I knew I was getting closer.

By the time night fell, I had managed to coat my hands with a faint layer of chakra. It wasn't visible, but I could feel the difference. My grip was stronger, my movements sharper.

It was only the beginning, but for the first time since waking up on this island, I felt something new.

Hope.

As I settled into my shelter, my mind drifted to what came next. If canon events played out, I would meet Yao Fei soon. That meant Fyers wasn't far behind. The island was a battlefield, and I needed to be ready.

I clenched my fists.

'I have chakra. I have knowledge. Now, I need power.'

Tomorrow, the real training would begin.

End of Chapter 2.
