Ascension of the Devouring Flame I'm the son of Ego and Abeloth

Chapter 2: Chapter 2: The Forge of Blood and Madness

The silence of Nihilus' chambers was deafening, a void so complete that it threatened to swallow Kael whole. Here, in the heart of the ancient Sith Lord's fortress, time felt meaningless. Kael knelt before his master, his head bowed low, though not out of reverence. It was a performance, an act he played to appease the living void that loomed above him.

"You grow stronger," Nihilus said, his voice resonating in Kael's mind like a blade scraping across stone. "But strength without purpose is nothing. You hunger for power, but do you know why?"

Kael didn't respond immediately. His molten-gold eyes, a gift from his celestial lineage, burned with defiance even as he maintained his submissive posture. He hated this game of words, but he knew better than to show his irritation. "To dominate," he finally said, his voice steady. "To take what is mine and crush all who oppose me."

A cold, hollow laugh echoed through the chamber. "Spoken like a true child of chaos," Nihilus replied. "But domination requires more than brute force. It requires control. Will. You must prove you are not a slave to your own power."

Kael's jaw tightened. He wanted to lash out, to challenge Nihilus and prove his strength, but he knew such defiance would end poorly. Instead, he gritted his teeth and waited.

"I have a task for you," Nihilus continued, his voice like the grinding of tectonic plates. "A test. There is a world on the edge of this galaxy, a forsaken place ruled by primitives. They worship false gods and cling to illusions of peace. You will go there. You will show them the futility of their existence."

Kael's lips curved into a cold smile. "And if they resist?"

"Then you will devour them," Nihilus said simply. "Show them the wrath of the Starborn."

The planet was a barren wasteland, its surface scarred by centuries of volcanic eruptions and unrelenting storms. Kael stood at the edge of a jagged cliff, his crimson cloak billowing in the howling wind. Below him lay a sprawling city, its crude stone structures glowing faintly with the light of countless fires. He could feel the fear radiating from the inhabitants, a delicious undercurrent that stirred the chaos within him.

Kael raised his hand, and the ground beneath him trembled. The molten core of the planet responded to his call, surging upward in a wave of searing magma that flowed down the cliff like a tidal wave of destruction. The city erupted into chaos as the lava consumed everything in its path.

Screams filled the air, a symphony of terror that brought a wicked grin to Kael's face. He descended into the chaos, his body wreathed in a shimmering aura of celestial energy. His golden eyes burned like twin suns as he unleashed his power, obliterating all who dared to stand before him.

The warriors of the city—if they could even be called that—rushed to meet him, their crude weapons glinting in the firelight. Kael laughed, a sound that was equal parts amusement and disdain, and with a wave of his hand, he sent them flying like ragdolls. He didn't need to fight them; they were beneath him. But he craved the thrill of battle, the satisfaction of crushing his enemies with his own hands.

One by one, he tore through their ranks, his movements a blur of destruction. His celestial abilities, combined with the chaotic power of his mother's bloodline, made him an unstoppable force. He manipulated the very elements around him, turning the earth into a weapon, the air into a blade, the fire into an extension of his wrath.

But it wasn't enough. The battle, if it could even be called that, ended far too quickly. Kael stood amidst the ruins of the city, his body radiating power, and felt nothing but disappointment. These creatures were weak, unworthy of his full strength.

As he surveyed the devastation, a voice echoed in his mind. "You are not satisfied."

It was Nihilus, his ever-present spectre of judgement. Kael scowled but didn't bother to respond. His master already knew the answer.

"You crave a challenge," Nihilus said, his tone almost mocking. "You crave an adversary who can match your power."

Kael clenched his fists, his golden eyes blazing. "Then give me one," he growled. "Give me someone worth fighting."

Nihilus didn't respond immediately. The silence stretched on, oppressive and suffocating, before his voice returned, colder and sharper than before. "Very well. Return to me, and I will grant your wish."

Kael stood before Nihilus once more, his body tense with anticipation. The Sith Lord regarded him silently, his hollow eyes glowing faintly beneath his dark hood.

"There is a warrior," Nihilus said after a long pause. "A being of great power. He resides in the depths of the multiverse, a guardian of a forgotten world. If you truly seek a challenge, you will find it there."

Kael's pulse quickened, his hunger for battle roaring to life. "Where is this world?"

Nihilus raised a hand, and a rift tore open in the fabric of reality. Through it, Kael glimpsed a world unlike any he had ever seen. It was a chaotic blend of light and shadow, its skies filled with swirling storms and its surface teeming with strange, monstrous creatures.

"This is your next test," Nihilus said. "Prove yourself worthy of the power you seek, or be consumed by it."

Kael didn't hesitate. He stepped through the rift, his body brimming with anticipation. This was what he had been waiting for: a chance to prove himself, to show the multiverse that he was more than just the child of Ego and Abeloth. He was a force to be reckoned with, a conqueror who would stop at nothing to achieve his goals.

As the rift closed behind him, Kael found himself standing on the edge of an ancient battlefield. The air was thick with the stench of blood and ash, and the ground beneath his feet was littered with the remnants of countless battles. Before him stood a lone figure, a towering warrior clad in armour that seemed to pulse with an otherworldly energy.

The warrior turned to face him, and Kael felt a surge of excitement. This was no mere mortal. This was a true adversary, someone who might actually challenge him.

Kael's lips curled into a savage grin. "Let's see what you're made of."
