Chapter 677: The Law Barrier, Preparing for the Second Breakthrough!
Sterl looked at the massive boulder in front of him, focused his mind, and with a slight shift in thought, he released an invisible wave of soul energy.
In an instant, the wave enveloped the boulder.
With a loud crack, the rock, which originated from Hell and was harder than steel, transformed into soft earth, crumbling and disintegrating into dust on the ground.
Sterl felt a shiver in his heart. Even though he had anticipated such an effect, the result still surprised him.
He examined his soul power, and to his amazement, there was no consumption at all. Yet just moments ago, with a single thought, he had completely altered the physical form of the boulder, turning it into ordinary dirt and causing it to shatter.
Everything felt natural, as though, under his will, the rock was always meant to turn into dirt.
"This is an incredible power. It seems somewhat similar to Dream Power," Sterl muttered to himself. Dream Power also had the ability to rewrite reality, even creating real power from the void.
By comparison, Dream Power was undoubtedly much stronger.
However, this was already a very good sign. As his soul level continued to rise, this ability would not only grow stronger, but would also give birth to even more powerful abilities!
Of course, that was a topic for later. For now, this ability was already impressive: silent, without any apparent consumption, though he wasn't sure where the upper limit of its power might lie.
"At least, without using the Soul Prison's Eerie Eyes, my powerful soul energy can still produce real effects."
A hopeful smile appeared on Sterl's face, but when he looked at the soul experience required for the next level, his expression immediately stiffened.
After his soul level had increased, the experience bar had stretched to an absurd degree.
He did a quick mental calculation, and to break through to the next level, it would require a staggering 150,000 soul power!
Even with another million soul power, raising his level by four would be a great result.
"It's fine. Worst case, I'll just pay the price and bring in a few more maternal puppets…"
He thought to himself. Right now, with three maternal puppets, he could generate about 120 high-level soul power a day. If it were ordinary soul power, that number would jump to about 1300 per day. That's nearly 40,000 soul power in a month. It may not seem like much, but it's a steady and ongoing process.
However, if he had 30 maternal puppets on hand, then he could harvest 40,000 soul power a day. A few days of waiting would be enough to level up by one!
In this way, reaching level 99 wouldn't take much longer.
Moreover, the maternal puppets could be upgraded as well. Right now, with just three maternal puppets, one had absorbed 100,000 soul power and its production had increased two or three times. If more soul power was infused into them, wouldn't the output skyrocket?
As for acquiring more maternal puppets, that was something that needed to be considered carefully. After all, the force behind this operation was highly sensitive to such actions.

Sterl was now fully aware that this faction was enormous, and its target was very likely the entire Tanscendence world. If their goal was the Tanscendence world, then their power would no doubt be on par with, if not greater than, that of the Tanscendence itself. So, unless absolutely necessary, Sterl didn't want to attract their attention.
"Enough thinking about that," he muttered. "With my current physical strength, I should be able to support a second breakthrough, unlocking a new talent..."
Shaking his head, he shifted his thoughts to the matter at hand.
The elite soul puppets he had accumulated, if all refined, would easily yield 3,700 high-level soul power. Such a large amount of high-level soul power would definitely enable a second breakthrough.
However, soul power accumulation was only one part of the equation. Sterl had not forgotten that during his first breakthrough, his body nearly collapsed because it couldn't handle the strain!
But compared to before, his physical strength had been enhanced by more than ten times, and this exponential increase was likely more than dozens of times!
So, he believed the second breakthrough should be no problem.
Sterl comforted himself, almost envisioning that the battles ahead would be extremely fierce. Having sabotaged that mysterious faction's plans, he was certain to face strong resistance, so he had to push his power to the limit.
Moreover, with so much high-level soul power at his disposal, leaving it unused was giving him an itch he couldn't ignore.
He had never been the type to hoard resources. In his eyes, if resources weren't quickly converted into strength, they risked becoming "gold coins" for the enemy.
After a brief moment of thought, Sterl made up his mind. With his current physical strength, even a little over 3,000 high-level soul power was nothing he couldn't handle!
He took a deep breath, focused his thoughts, and immediately drew on the power of Hell to strengthen himself, bringing his condition to its peak.
Sterl then waved his hand, releasing all 360 Laws he had mastered.
With the recent leap in his soul's strength, controlling these Laws became far easier. In no time, the Law Power began to rapidly coalesce around him.
Surprisingly, even many Laws that were completely opposed to each other didn't cause any conflicts or friction. They all behaved like quiet virgins, obediently following Sterl's commands.
Soon, a vibrant, multicolored barrier, resembling flowing water, began to slowly envelop Sterl. On this barrier, one could almost see every single Law from the hundreds he commanded, arranged in a special manner to completely isolate him from the outside world, wrapping him in its protection.
When absorbing high-level soul power, this was the most vulnerable time for him. Any disturbance could spell disaster—one wrong move, and it could lead to irreversible damage.
So, before doing anything else, he had to ensure that he was in an absolutely secure environment.
This defensive barrier was the result of him merging all the Laws he commanded, including even the Fission Law and the Time Law.
He was confident that, even against higher-tier divine authorities, if they attacked recklessly, they would not only fail to break through it but would also suffer terrifying counterattacks!
So what if they were upper-tier Laws? Against hundreds of perfect-level Law Powers, even they could be torn apart by sheer numbers!
After completing the setup, Sterl once again drew upon the power of Hell, pouring it into the barrier to maximize the defense.
Moreover, he still had an additional layer of defense formed by Hell itself, providing double protection—a nearly flawless safeguard.
Will of Hell stood to the side, somewhat dazed, watching the scene unfold. It didn't understand exactly what Sterl was doing, but its instincts screamed that this seemingly dazzling barrier was, in fact, filled with terrifying danger!
Beneath the wave-like appearance, there were countless whirlpools hiding within. A single touch would drag anything in, tearing it to shreds with hundreds of Law Powers! Even it might be severely wounded, so it wisely took a step back. Whatever this creature was planning, its best course of action was to interfere as little as possible and just wait silently.
Once the pre-breakthrough defenses were set, Sterl once again took out the Soul Devourer Sphere, his face now serious.
"Hopefully, nothing goes wrong," he muttered.
With that, he gripped the Soul Devourer Sphere tightly in his hands, resolving quietly in his heart. If he couldn't withstand this breakthrough, he would make sure to crush the source of all this—before he failed.
He then focused his mind, controlling the elite soul puppets within the Purgatory Space, and began refining them into high-level soul power.
Without any hesitation, he immediately began the absorption process.
Streams of high-level soul power quickly surged out of the Soul Devourer Sphere under his guidance, entering his body.
Under Sterl's control, the influx of power increased to a rate of 10 points per second, equivalent to absorbing the soul of a god every second.
Not only that, but his absorption speed continued to rise, eventually reaching 100 points per second before it plateaued.
"My body is actually able to withstand such a high rate of absorption?" Sterl was momentarily stunned, a smile forming on his face. He remembered that the last time he tried to reach this speed during the absorption of high-level soul power, he was told his body was not strong enough to handle it.
But this time, he felt no strain at all.
However, Sterl could vaguely sense that this speed was nearing his limit. All he had to do now was maintain it.
At a rate of 100 points per second, he could absorb the equivalent of an upper-tier divine authority's soul in just five seconds. If this information were to leak out, it would likely send shockwaves of fear through the gods. He would be seen as a devil that feeds on souls!
After the first stream of high-level soul power was absorbed, Sterl no longer needed to make any effort. The Soul Devourer Sphere adhered to his hand, continuously transmitting the accumulated soul power into his body.
This process would continue until either his body reached its limit or the soul power was completely depleted.
And during this absorption, there was no backlash. Only when the actual breakthrough began would the backlash hit all at once.
Sterl had experienced this before. In those cases, if his body couldn't withstand it, it would truly be a dead end.
But it was a necessary step to enhance his power, an unavoidable trial.
Once he pushed through, the rewards would be immense. He had already seen the potential of the Soul Prison's Eerie Eyes. The new talent born from his second breakthrough of limits was something he could not afford to miss!
Time passed second by second. Even with the absorption rate of 100 points per second, it would still take 37 seconds to absorb all 3,700 points of high-level soul power.
Sterl closed his eyes, calmed his mind, and waited quietly.
