Chapter 141: Regina 1

"Ugh, dammit, my head hurts." Vell got up and tried to touch his head but something was strong, "the hell?" He was in a cell with power limiter chains on. He tried to summon his power but nothing was working.

"hey....system?" No reply. "What the hell is going on here?"

"Oh, you are finally awake." Regina entered, eating a lollipop as usual. She stood in front of the cage with a dominance look on her face. "Finally caught you, though, I never expected you to leave that place. Not even I dared enter that realm and yet, you cleared it, how?" She pointed at him with her sweet, "you are going to tell me everything about that realm or else your little friends will die."

"Pfft." Regina packed up, surprised that he was laughing, "I was wondering who dared to do this but its just you Regina. Isn't this a bit cheap? why don't you untie me so we can talk like adults?" She knew by the dead look in his eyes that if she let him out, her head would go flying fast.

"Now why would I do something like that?" She snapped her fingers and the upstairs door opened. "you see, I thought you were smart but it turns out I overestimated you. You left your group, alone, in my territory. What did you think would happen?" A guard game in, dragging a young girl with a chain around her neck. Her body was covered in bruises and she barely had any energy to keep her eyes open.

"This one is very loyal, where did you get such a beast?" She grabbed the girl by her hair, dragging her closer to the cage so Vell could see properly. "she fought well but in the end, she fell, just like all your other underlings."

Vell's expression turned dark as the girl's weak eyes locked with his and then she forced a smile, "welcome back, master. What to you so-" Regina smashed her face into the ground.

"phew, I hate touchy moments, I hope you understand." She stared at him with a look of pure malice and amusement in her eyes. Vell kept his eyes on Wren as she bleed out on the ground.

He felt his vision blur as his anger began to rise. "Regina." He looked up at her and a Regina felt chills down her spine, her body's instincts took over, causing her to jump back. "Let me promise you something, if you do not apologize in 10 seconds, I swear, you will not leave this place."

Her smirk faltered for a moment, but she quickly regained her composure, brushing off the chill that had run down her spine. She crossed her arms and tilted her head, her lollipop dangling precariously from her lips. "Oh? Big words from a man in chains. What are you going to do? Glare at me until I drop dead? You're powerless here. Face it, you've lost."

Vell's eyes never left hers, his gaze piercing and unyielding. The air in the room seemed to grow heavier, the tension thickening with every passing second. The guard holding Wren shifted uncomfortably, glancing at Regina for reassurance. Even the light in the cell seemed to flicker, as if reacting to the storm brewing within the room.

"Ten," he said, his voice low and steady.

She rolled her eyes, though her grip on her lollipop tightened. "Oh, please. Spare me the theatrics. You're not in any position to make threats."

"Nine."

Wren coughed weakly, her blood pooling beneath her. Her eyes fluttered open, and she managed to whisper, "M-Master... don't... don't let her... win..."

"Eight."

Regina's smirk returned, though it didn't quite reach her eyes. She crouched down next to Wren, grabbing her chin and forcing her to look up. "You see this? Your little pet is still loyal, even now. It's almost admirable. Too bad loyalty won't save her."

Her words were no longer reaching him.

"Seven."

His chains rattled as he shifted slightly, his muscles tensing. The power limiters glowed faintly, struggling to contain the energy building within him. She noticed and stood up abruptly, taking a step back, even her lollipop fell from her mouth.

"Don't waste your energy. Those chains were specially designed to suppress even someone like you. You're not breaking free."

"Six."

Her confidence wavered again. She snapped her fingers, and the guard dragged Wren closer to the cage, pressing a blade to her throat. "Enough of this nonsense. Tell me what I want to know, or I'll end her right here."

"Five."

Wren's eyes met his again, and she smiled weakly, her voice barely audible. "kick ... her ass..."

"Four."

Regina's patience snapped. "Fine! If you won't talk, then I'll just have to—"

"Three."

The ground beneath them trembled slightly, and the lights flickered again. Her eyes widened as she took another step back. "What the hell is this?!"

"Two."

Vell's voice was like thunder now, reverberating through the cell. The chains around him began to crack, the power limiters sparking and smoking. Her guard dropped the blade and stumbled backward, his face pale with fear.

"One."

The chains shattered, exploding into fragments as Vell rose to his feet. His eyes glowed with an otherworldly light, and the air around him crckled with energy. Regina stared at him in disbelief. "H-How...? Those chains were supposed to—"

"Time's up," he said, his voice cold and final.

She turned to run, but before she could take a single step, he was in front of her, his hand gripping her throat. He lifted her off the ground effortlessly, his expression unreadable. The guard tried to flee, but a flick of his wrist sent him crashing into the wall, unconscious.

"Y-You can't... kill me..."she choked out, her feet kicking uselessly in the air. "You... need me..."

Vell's grip tightened, his voice a low growl. "I warned you didn't I?" His fingers began to dig into her flesh as he lifted her higher off the ground further. Her feet dangled helplessly, her hands clawing at his arm in a futile attempt to break free. Her face turned red, then purple, as she gasped for air, her eyes wide with terror.

"You thought you could hurt her," he said, his voice cold and devoid of mercy. "You thought you could break me but you underestimated what I'm capable of."

He slammed her into the ground. The impact was brutal, the sound of bones cracking echoing through the cell. She screamed, her body writhing in pain, but Vell wasn't done. He knelt beside her, his glowing eyes boring into hers.

"You're going to regret every second of this," he said, his voice low and menacing. "You're going to feel every ounce of pain you inflicted on her—and more."

She tried to speak, to beg, but his hand clamped down on her jaw, silencing her. He leaned in closer, his breath hot against her face. "Let's start with something simple."

He placed his hand on her shoulder, and with a sickening crunch, he dislocated it. Regina's scream was muffled by his grip, tears streaming down her face as she thrashed in agony.

Vell didn't flinch.

He moved to her other shoulder, repeating the process with the same cold precision.

"This is for Wren," he said, his voice steady. "For every bruise, every cut, every moment of pain you caused her."

Her body convulsed, her screams growing hoarse as he continued. He broke her fingers one by one, the sound of snapping bones filling the air. Each break was deliberate, calculated, designed to maximize her suffering. She tried to plead, to bargain, but Vell was unmoved.

"You don't get to talk," he said, his voice like ice. "You don't get to beg. Time for such things has long gone, no second chances."

He stood, dragging her up with him. Her broken body hung limply in his grasp, her breaths shallow and ragged. His eyes glowed brighter as he channeled his power. He placed his hand on her chest, and a surge of energy coursed through her, burning her from the inside out.

"You must be wondering, 'how is he using his mana when the chains blocked off his core'." He threw her at the wall with so much force that the wall broke down. "It simple, I have multiple cores but something is still strange, my systems are both offline, I want to know how you did that."

Regina's body crumpled against the shattered wall, her broken form gasping for air as Vell loomed over her. Her bloodied lips twisted into a weak, defiant smirk. "Y-You think...I did something to you?" she rasped, coughing up blood. "I don't even... know what you're... babbling about..."

Vell's eyes narrowed. He could smell the truth in her panic—she had no idea what systems he spoke of. 'Then who? The admin? wait, could it be the tower?'

Wren lay trembling on the floor, her breaths shallow. In an instant, he was at her side, his earlier fury replaced by lethal focus. He placed a hand over her chest, and a pulse of golden light spilled from his palm, knitting her wounds, erasing bruises, until her skin glowed with renewed vitality. Her eyes fluttered open, clarity returning.

"Master," she whispered, "the others, they are in trouble."

"...Where?" His mana went out of control, causing a violent surge of wind around him. However, before she could answer, Vell blocked an attack from Regina who was fully healed now.

"Phew, that was close, shall we do this properly now?" Her confidence was back as her power surged higher and higher, "Oh, I called over all my players, I hope you don't mind."

"... Fine by me."
