Chapter 265: A Fight Against Mutated Beasts
Loreia looked up and shouted. "Argentis! Come down here!"
Argentis flinched mid-flight as it turned toward Loreai, who had called him.
It immediately growled and dove down. As soon as it landed on the ground, it folded its wings and glanced at Loreia.
Loreia grinned as she placed her palm on its head. "Now you've truly become a dragon."
Argentis only let out a low growl as it was being patted.
Loreia exhaled and smirked. "Alright, buddy. Let's see if I can do what those so-called Beast Fighters did."
She had seen how beast fighters transformed their beasts into weapons.
Luna and Liora had usually fused with their beast so Loreia wanted to try the beast weapon.
Loreia closed her eyes for a moment, calming herself down.
She could feel Argentis and immediately knew what to do. "Argentis. Spear Mode."
Argentis let out a growl. It didn't what happen but it knew what Loreia wanted.
Its form then suddenly transformed into a long spear that appeared on Loreia's hand.
The handle was wrapped in smooth dark leather, fitting perfectly in her grip.
The blade shone like polished dragon scales, curved like a dragon fang.
Loreia twirled the spear once, feeling its perfect balance and grinned. "Damn, Argentis. You feel perfect."
Loreia laughed, spinning it effortlessly. "So this is what a Beast Fighter feels like, huh?"
She slammed the spear's butt against the ground, causing a faint shockwave to ripple outward.
She then smirked as she raised her spear back and pointed it toward Vance and the other. "Alright, you bastards. We can have some real fun, now."
Vance frowned as he watched Loreia effortlessly wield her spear. Her confidence irritated him.
Vance exhaled, rolling his shoulders before snapping back at her. "Don't get ahead of yourself just because you fused with your stupid dragon!"
Loreia twirled her spear lazily, resting it on her shoulder. "Oh? Did I touch a nerve?"
Vance clenched his fist. "You think a single fusion makes you powerful? You're not even a real Beast Fighter! You're just lucky that dragon follows your commands!"
Loreia laughed, tapping her chin. "Huh. So you are mad."
Vance gritted his teeth and snapped. "Enough of this shit!"
He turned toward his men and shouted. "Attack that arrogant girl!"
The investigators immediately followed his command, pressing small, metallic buttons attached to their wrists.
A faint beep echoed through the battlefield and the Chimawren immediately moved.
The mutated beasts, which had been waiting like restless monsters, suddenly let out distorted screeches.
Their metal-infused wings twitched unnaturally, and their glowing red eyes locked onto Loreia.
Vance smirked. "You see, these beasts aren't just controlled through a contract."
Vance then continued. "They were experimented to be stronger and more aggressive, and that's the reason that we need to use some control."
He gestured toward their bodies. "Those metals are what are used for controlling them. It overrides their instincts, making them nothing more than tools for battle."
Vance then smirked. "Now they are the perfect Aurellia beasts that were not only strong but also easy to control."
Loreia frowned slightly, gripping her spear tighter as she processed Vance's words. "I see. It seems that I'm not the only monster here."
She turned toward Vance and smirked. "You are and I'll make sure you regret becoming a monster like me."
Vance only grinned. "Let's see if you can defeat our elite beasts, you monster girl."
The Chimawrens immediately launched their attack as a group of them dove toward Loreai quickly.
Some of them used their wings, trying to slash her with their sharp wings.
The rest came from the other sides, using their sharp talons, trying to tear her apart.
Loreia, on the other hand, was ready. She didn't look scared at all.
With precise timing, she struck forward with her spear, piercing straight through the first Chimawren's chest.
Its body twitched violently, but Loreia didn't stop as she continued to drive it, crashing to the ground.
Loreia then used the momentum from the downward strike to lift herself upward, flipping through the air.
She twisted her body midair and lashed out a powerful kick on another Chimawren's head, sending it spiraling backward. "Tch!"
But before she could land back on solid ground, another Chimawren reacted instantly, adjusting its flight path. Read the latest on My Virtual Library Empire
It flew toward Loreiua and lunged, using its sharp talon to clamp down on Loreia's leg, gripping it tightly.
Loreia frowned as she was caught and dragged toward the sky by it away from the battlefield.
Liora, who observed the battle, was a bit surprised. "I never thought those mutated beasts could be this smart."
Luna glanced at her, raising her eyebrow. "Smart? They're just attacking wildly."
Liora shook her head. "No, it wasn't random. They purposely let the first two Chimawren die just to catch Loreia off guard."
Lucius smirked as he also realized it now. "I could see it now after you say it."
Liora contined. "Even though it looked like a simple aerial ambush, it was actually a coordinated strategy."
Vance, hearing their conversation, smirked. "Of course it was."
He crossed his arms. "Did you really think we'd send mindless beasts into battle?"
Luna frowned. "Aren't they supposed to be unstable? I thought they were too aggressive to be controlled properly."
Vance smirked, shaking his head. "They are aggressive. But that doesn't mean they're stupid."
He gestured toward the Chimawren still circling above. "Their mutated minds are programmed to analyze all threats in real time."
Vance then explained. "They don't just attack randomly. They react, adapt, and execute plans mid-fight."
He chuckled, watching as Loreia struggled slightly. "That's why they were able to lure her into a false sense of control. She thought she was overpowering them, but in reality, they were setting her up for capture."
Lucius only smirked. "A beast that adapts... now that's interesting."
Luna clicked her tongue. "Tch. So they're not just puppets—they're evolving mid-battle?"
Vance grinned. "Exactly. Which is why your 'big sister' won't last much longer."
But all three of them didn't panic at all. They already knew that they could save her even if Loreia was in danger.
