Beast World: Rise to Power with the Offspring System

Chapter 124: Bone Sacrifice

Sally stood atop the ruins of Katro City.

The fallen Hundred Beasts Tower, the statues of the Beast God Square turned into broken rubble, and a few pitch-black crows cawing noisily added an even more desolate air to this doomsday scene.

The dark sky looked as if some monster might emerge from it at any moment, triggering a soul-crushing terror.

"I've lived through a nightmare of endless, eternal night, where cold and terror were omnipresent, as if even the gods were asleep."

"System sympathizes with your loss."

"You're wrong, Xiaomei, I don't grieve."

Her emotions had been cleansed. Even when recalling Zi Qi, she only felt a touch like that towards Zulu, but it didn't shatter her body and soul as it did with Qin Mo.

Teleporting once more, Sally appeared at the Abyssal Chasm Rift where Zi Qi had fallen.

"Let's start from here." Sally jumped straight into the Abyss.

Her body kept falling, endlessly falling, as if there was no bottom.

"Please stay safe, Host."

"Isn't it your duty to ensure my safety? Save that advice for yourself."

"Yes, Host."

At the bottom of the Abyss, there were countless bones and withered grass emitting a sinister green cold light.

Sally opened the System Map; it was littered with red dots, which indicated bugs at the bottom of the Abyss that posed no threat.

Xiaomei responded, "Host, beware of the Evil Beasts."

In Sally's map, a huge red dot suddenly appeared, and it was less than three meters behind her.

Calmly, Sally took two grenades from the System Space, "Tell me, where is its death point bone?"

The Demon Beasts of the Dark Continent were formed from demonic qi and developed Crystal Cores after devouring Beastmen. However, the Abyssal Beasts were formed from the Abyssal Curse Qi and would produce Curse Stones after devouring Beastmen.

But the Beastmen of the Spiritual Beast Continent, unlike those from the Mortal Beast Continent, had an additional Spiritual Bone. The Abyssal Evil Beasts grew strong by devouring the Spiritual Bone, and self-destructing a Spiritual Bone could unleash a powerful energy, akin to the collapse of the Hundred Beasts Tower Arena.

So to kill it, one must first shatter its death point bone to prevent it from self-destructing.

"It's on the back left leg."

"Hmm."

Sally stepped back on beast bones, observing the two-zhang tall Abyssal Evil Beast in front of her with its ferocious appearance and body covered in disgusting, sticky curse fluid.

She pulled the pins of the grenades and threw them at the Abyssal Evil Beast while drawing a sharp Tang-style Saber from the System Space.

With two explosions, the Abyssal Evil Beast was blown to pieces!

Sally, holding the Tang-style Saber, looked at the remnants with some surprise.

She had intended to use the grenades to distract it and then target its death point bone.

She hadn't expected the grenades to be so effective against these creatures; perhaps the explosives inside had a suppressing effect on the curse qi.

Picking up a black stone that had fallen to the ground, this was a Curse Stone, which could be exchanged for ten thousand Gold Coins, regardless of the Curse Stone's quality.

This showed just how much the Beastmen of the Spiritual Beast Continent despised the Abyssal Evil Beasts.

Sally picked up the Curse Stone and continued forward, "Xiaomei, is there any remnant of Zi Qi's corpse here?"

"No. There is a one hundred percent likelihood that it was devoured by Abyssal Evil Beasts," replied Xiaomei.

"One hundred percent, so that's absolute," scoffed Sally.

"There's a large group of Abyssal Evil Beasts ahead, Host, be careful."

"Heard." The ground also vibrated, "Why can Shi Feifei command the Abyssal Evil Beasts?"

"It's related to her beast body. She has blood of the Abyssal Royal Evil Spirit Clan. The Evil Spirit Clan, an alien race born from the spiritualization of curse qi, possesses inherited bloodlines."

The horde of Abyssal Evil Beasts came into Sally's view.

Sally shouldered a single-soldier rocket launcher, aimed at the horde of Abyssal Beasts, and fired…

She had come this time to find Zi Qi's remains, and since they were nowhere to be found, she decided to kill these Abyssal Beasts as a sacrifice to them.

Sally's debts grew heavier by the moment, and correspondingly, more high-tech weapons appeared in her hands.

Since Katro City's transformation from a bustling city into the lair of the Evil Spirit Clan, it now underwent another baptism.

The remaining walls were pulverized by the bombardments, and the chasms of the Abyss had been blasted flat. The dim skies were filled with the smell of gunpowder, but it had diluted much of the curse in the air.

Sally looked up at the increasingly cloud-filled sky where a storm might hit at any moment… Her vision gradually blurring.

Suddenly, a raindrop fell on her face, ice-cold and bone-chilling.

[Xiaomei, do you know where 0048 is?]

[Luofeng Valley. Squad 7672 is currently battling it. The male has died, leaving only the female.]

[Head there directly.]

[Okay.]

The rain grew heavier, and the uneven ground gradually filled with water.

Three people in white cloaks arrived in Katro City.

They looked at the Abyssal Rift, now a flattened expanse, and the lingering, dense scent of gunpowder in the air.

One of them said, "It's Curse-Expelling Smoke, there's so much of it… No wonder the curse here has disappeared. And this rift has been filled in as well. Who did this?"

Another cloaked figure raised a hand, and suddenly, a scepter appeared in it. "Rewind."

Time in Katro City began to flow backward quickly, stopping only when Sally appeared, then continued moving forward… until it synced with reality again.

"It's the female from Squad 9908," said the last cloaked figure in a calm voice.

"The squad that has been ranked first, whose female's information has not been disclosed to this day?"

"9908? I've paid attention to them before. Just a little white mouse with decent talent, but lacking in combat power. Now it seems, it's not a lack of combat power, but there was no need to act. By the way, one of their male members has died here."

"This is vengeance, and it's troublesome," said the calm voice, which now had a trace of concern.

"Avenging a male? This is the first time I've seen that."

Even though Sally was now of Heaven Rank talent and capable of Teleport, long-distance precision transportation still required the System.

After spending 50 points, Sally glanced at her current debt—19,821,306.

She had been impulsive again.

But she had to vent this anger. She'd earn back the points later.

Luofeng Valley—

Shi Feifei was controlling the Abyssal Beasts, entangling with Mi Ying.

Mi Ying's last male warrior had died, devoured by the Abyssal Beasts. And she, an Earth Element of Green Rank, was now forced into dormancy by the System for violating the rules of the Holy War, unable to help her any further.

"Shi Feifei, your points already rank you second, why must you be so ruthless?"

"I want to kill you!"

"You! You won't end up well!"

Despair shone in Mi Ying's eyes. If a female died in the Holy War, she died for good, with no chance of resurrection.

"Spare me and I'll give you all my points," Mi Ying pleaded as she knelt on the ground in despair, wanting to stay alive. As long as she lived, even if she were to be re-bound to a System and start over on another continent, it would be okay.

Shi Feifei's smile grew even more maniacal. "Had you begged like this earlier, I might have spared your life. Now it's too late."

Shi Feifei commanded the Abyssal Beasts to devour Mi Ying.

Just as an Abyssal Beast opened its massive maw to consume her... a massive fireball mixed with a pillar of lightning fell from the sky, obliterating the Abyssal Beast to ashes!
