Chapter 124: The Library

The first time any players publicly discussed the male devils of the infernal kingdom's it became clear very quickly that something was off, on first glance it looked like some female haven since men were almost never seen and the women held all of the positions of authority.

Looking back on the events of the game it was almost sad to remember how many members of the third wave feminist movement were rushing to what they called a "women's utopia."

They were like locusts descending upon the kingdom until they learned what happened to them when they expressed their opinions there.

When Ezekiel saw the well dresses young man he picked up on a few details thanks to his experience with Lucretia.

The man had golden bands decorating his horns while his eyes were surrounded by dark lines, he realized that it was makeup but it was makeup he'd expect at a weird fashion show.

The more he examined the male the more he picked up on small details that were drawing the eye to features like how thin the man was, how long his horns were as well as the shape, and finally the sound of metal on metal drew the focus to his tail when he moved.

'His jewelry makes your eye go to his horns and his tail while his body is practically on display thanks to the clothing and makeup, damn the guys here really do act like women from the late twentieth century.'

"What can I help you with today?"

"I need to get some information on a few things because of a quest I'm on, I need to know how to make my mana veins into elementally attuned mana veins."

The young man looked at Ezekiel with a strange gaze before pulling out a box that contained a number of cards, he flipped through them until he found one and nodded.

"Follow me please."

He follows the young man before they arrive at what looks like rows of drawers, it took him a moment before he realized what he was looking at when the librarian pulled out a drawer to reveal a number of cards like before.

'Oh a filing cabinet...'

"Well high level body skills, mana category. These can be found on floor two rows twelve through fifteen."

As he was putting the card away he finished the directions with some advice.

"When you get there just ask another student for help finding the necessary books, this library has a lot of works so finding exactly what you need is a bit tedious."

"Aren't you a librarian though? Wouldn't you know where the books are in here?"

"Sorry just an assistant librarian but I do know certain areas since I hope to make this my permanent job after I graduate."

"When do you graduate though?"

He is silent for some time while escorting Ezekiel before he finally answers.

"If my coven will continue to trust my skills then I'll be able to graduate in three years."

He nods before looking at the floor he was led to.

He leaves the young man behind and after a bit of walking finds the rows of twelve to fifteen, he looks around for others but eventually just searches for the books himself.

He figured that if he didn't find the books it was still a good way to pass the time until another student appeared.

He found many books that sounded interesting but none had any sign of information on mana veins, he mostly found information on skills like flash stepping and barriers.

He occasionally found books that had information on skills like mana strikes and mana waves.

Eventually he found a book that showed promise but when he started to look through to find any chapter lists he instead realized the book was more like a journal.

There was no author listed on the book but it was titled 'Mana Internals' which he soon realized was describing the way one should circulate mana in the body to actually have efficient spellcasting.

He put the book away and sighed before continuing his search.

He saw books that gave a wide range of knowledge for skills he never dreamed of while other books explained things in such poor detail that he didn't even bother to read past the first page.

He started to notice a pattern where the books that had no author and looked like journals seemed to be the least reliable options for his study so he started to ignore them entirely.

As he kept looking he suddenly heard the sound of footsteps... but not exactly.

He heard light footsteps and what sounded like nails hitting the floor, when he stepped out of the row he saw a shockingly strange woman.

She was a devil but she had features that heavily implied she was a half breed, something involving a cat was clearly in her lineage as he saw her feet and hands resembling those of beastkin players.

He thought about hope and started to compare then.

Hope had the bunny ears with a relatively human race while her chest and neck seemed to have a fluffy collar of natural fur, like a scruff that actually looked very soft to touch.

She also had fur on her arms like gloves that would start at the wrists and end at elbows.

Lastly he remembered that her shins had the same golden fur that went all the way to her feet which were normal paws like that of a rabbit, she fid however wear sandals until she got armor.

This young woman had very similar features but they were entwined with her infernal features.

At the end of her tail she had two tufts of fur like a lion had rather than the devil arrowhead.

Her arms had a similar fur sleeve but this was finer and a lot less like arm warmers, the same went for her legs and the clawed paws that clicked on the floor when her sandaled feet took a step.

When she saw him she froze but after her nose twitched she relaxed.

"What are you doing?"

The halfblood seemed to be less worried than when she had originally acted and he just set the thought aside.

"I'm looking for a book about mana veins."

"Oh? If you want to construct your mana veins then you're on the wrong floor."

She started to walk past him but he spoke up in a hurry.

"No wait! I need to give my mana veins an affinity."

Now she was looking at him with more scrutiny before nodding.

"Fine but get rid of that stupid mask, I won't help someone if I don't know their face..."

'Well this is trouble.'

He nodded before turning back to the shelves.

After a few seconds the young woman tapped his shoulder.

"Hey you going to do it or not?"

"No, sorry but someone told me I should hide my face..."

After processing his words she clapped and smiled.

"Oh I'm so sorry! I should have realized that you would be having an issue like that!"

She motioned at her own body with a big smile.

"Don't worry I know the stress of being a half breed, I guess your family traits show up in your face and tail the most huh?"

He looked at her in total confusion before he realized what she was saying.

"Oh wait you mean... OH! No I'm not-"

She shushed him softly and did a strange motion in front of her lips.

"Shhh it's our little secret ok? My sisters and I also hide our own traits so we don't get tormented."

She pushed the sleeves of a blouse down while pulling a pair of boots out of a bag she carried.

These boots looked surprisingly like the heels that Lucretia wore so get figured they must be a popular accessory.

"Look can you please just help me find the book I need? I promise not to say anything about the clothes ok?"

She looked a bit sad now but nodded as she began to go around to grab multiple books from the various shelves.

"Here you go, these are just a few that can help you get some insight into the path you are seeking, what kind of quests is it anyway?"

He smiled at her before remembering that she couldn't see it so he bowed instead.

"It's a quest to get a boon from a powerful entity but one of the requirements is to make my mana veins have the same affinity as my core."

She nods in response before moving to a nearby table to sit down.

"Well on this floor you won't see many people until class is out because that's when the most students come to study, that's why I can walk around with my paws free."

She lay back with a stretch that heavily resembled that of a cat, especially when her feet did the adorable thing cats always do.

'Damn Lucretia would be kind of cute with paws.'
