Chapter 11: The Final Oath of Desire
The air was thick with the scent of blood and lust.
His darkness had swallowed her whole, wrapping around her like a second skin. There was no more pretending, no more running. She had surrendered to him in every way that mattered, but tonight... tonight, he would make it permanent.
Kim Taehyung stood before her, his gaze burning with a possessiveness that sent shivers down her spine. His shirt was unbuttoned, exposing the hard ridges of muscle beneath. A faint smear of blood stained his knuckles—fresh, dangerous, a reminder of the world he ruled with an iron fist. The world she was now a part of.
Her breath hitched as he lifted his hand, tracing a slow path down the side of her face. "You know what tonight means," he murmured, his voice like silk and sin. "There's no going back after this."
She swallowed hard. She knew.
Tonight, she wouldn't just be his in the dark. Wouldn't just be a fleeting possession to be hidden in the shadows of his empire. Tonight, he would mark her in a way that no one—not even the devil himself—could undo.
His bride. His queen.
His obsession.
Her fingers trembled as she reached up, touching his wrist. "I've already fallen," she whispered. "I just don't know if I'll survive the landing."
A dark chuckle rumbled from his chest. "Oh, sweetheart, you were never meant to survive me."
The words sent a thrill through her veins, a sinful mix of fear and desire that she had long since stopped fighting. Taehyung didn't love like a man—he consumed like a monster. And tonight, he would devour her completely.
The ceremony was not a grand affair. No flowers, no priest, no witnesses except for the shadows that clung to the corners of his estate. The room flickered with candlelight, casting a golden glow over the mahogany floors, the silk sheets on the bed—a bed she already knew too well—and the gleaming dagger resting beside a blackened vow book.
Her pulse pounded as Taehyung took her hand, leading her to stand before him. The weight of what they were about to do settled deep in her chest.
"You belong to me," he said, voice like a promise laced with warning. "Say it."
Her lips parted, but the words refused to form. Not out of defiance, but because they were already true. She had belonged to him long before this moment. From the first time his hands touched her, from the first time he took her and made her crave him in ways she never should have.
She raised her chin, meeting his gaze. "I belong to you."
His eyes darkened, approval flashing in their depths. He picked up the dagger, the sharp edge gleaming under the candlelight. "And I belong to you."
The words made her stomach twist. Because love was never meant to be soft between them. It was not whispered in secret or wrapped in gentle caresses. It was inked in sin, forged in fire, and sealed in blood.
He took her hand, turning it palm-up. The cool kiss of steel pressed against her skin before the sharp sting followed. A thin line of crimson beaded where the blade kissed her flesh. She didn't flinch.
Then, he did the same to his hand, slicing a line along his palm, letting his blood mix with hers as he intertwined their fingers. The heat of him bled into her, into her very soul.
"A vow," he murmured, his voice deep, possessive. "A promise sealed in the only thing that matters in my world."
She felt the weight of his words, the finality in them. There was no escaping him. No undoing this. But as her blood mingled with his, a dangerous thrill raced through her veins.
Because she didn't want to escape.
She wanted him. In every twisted, sinful way possible.
His lips crashed against hers, the kiss raw, desperate, claiming. His tongue swept into her mouth, stealing the last breath of hesitation she had left. His free hand gripped her waist, pulling her against his hard, unyielding body.
And then he pulled back, brushing his thumb over her swollen lips. "Now say it again."
Her pulse thundered. Her soul burned.
"I belong to you."
Taehyung's smirk was pure sin, his voice a husky whisper against her lips. "Forever."
And then he took her, right there—against the silk sheets, beneath the candlelight, in a night that would forever bind them in blood and sin.
When the morning light streamed through the massive windows, she stirred, her body aching in the most sinful ways. Taehyung was beside her, already awake, his gaze heavy with dark satisfaction as he traced idle patterns along her bare skin.
"You're staring," she murmured sleepily.
"I like looking at what's mine."
Her heart clenched. There was no escaping him now. No more pretending she wasn't just as addicted as he was.
A knock on the door interrupted the moment. One of Taehyung's men entered, his expression grim. "Boss, we have a problem."
Taehyung sighed, rolling onto his back before throwing an arm over his face. "What is it?"
"There's been an attack. The cartel—"
Taehyung was up before the words finished leaving the man's mouth, his expression shifting from lazy satisfaction to cold, lethal rage. "Where?"
"The docks. Three men down. They're coming for us."
Her stomach twisted. She had known his world was dangerous, but now, it was crashing into their bed like an unstoppable wave.
Taehyung turned to her, his gaze softer but no less intense. He reached for her hand, the same hand still marked with their mingled blood.
"Stay here," he commanded, his voice gentle but firm. "I'll handle it."
Her fingers tightened around his. "You don't fight alone."
He exhaled slowly, brushing a kiss against her knuckles. "You're mine now. That means you don't get to throw yourself into danger anymore."
A bitter smile curled her lips. "And yet, you do."
His expression darkened. "That's different."
"No, it's not." She sat up, holding his gaze. "I vowed myself to you last night. That means I don't get to stay in the dark anymore. I fight with you. I stand with you."
Taehyung studied her for a long moment, then let out a low chuckle, shaking his head. "You don't fear me, do you?"
"I fear losing you."
The admission silenced him. And then he leaned in, pressing one last kiss to her lips—slow, deep, burning.
"Then come," he murmured against her mouth. "Let's spill blood together."
Because this was their world now. Their kingdom, is built on sin and violence.
And no one would take it from them.
