29. Unveiled Friendships (Weren)
Weren Hearthfire, if you told me ‘cheerful orc cook woman’ I would imagine her almost exactly and I mean that in the nicest way possible. She was on the shorter end of average, with ample curves and a pleasant plumpness to her body that wasn’t even close to what I would call fat. Just well cushioned. I couldn’t see any muscle on her but the way she hefted the stew pot told me she had plenty, and she didn’t get winded like someone who was actually out of shape would from all her running around and hauling things and being the biggest bundle of energy in the vardo by far.
Her skin was a more vibrant green than the others, her eyes pale brown, her hair barely an inch of messy black strands that she seemed to do absolutely nothing with, which fit her manic and excitable nature just fine. Her curves also did wonderful things for my eyes. Her ass was a big bouncy peach of a thing that I felt more than one urge to sink my teeth into when I saw her walking by, and her breasts were just a bit bigger than Helanna’s. Next to Briggavel that didn’t seem like much but I could still likely fit my head entirely between them and their very pale green peaks that seemed permanently stiff.
Much like Dekarru, she enjoyed teasing me when I was helping her. I would be sitting at the preparation counter, grinding fresh picked spices or kneading dough and she would reach for something in the cabinet above me and ‘accidentally’ give me a face full of green tits. Unfortunately for her attempts to win the girls’ arousal competitions, I found it more endearing and cute than the raw erotic attempts of some of the others and was able to mostly control my junk when she did it.
I did learn more with her though, both personal and professional.
I could just make out Carmilla out front laughing at something Briggavel said, the two were bonding quickly and I was happy that she had the chance to make friends while I helped the group’s chef. “So, Willow Creek is a nation made of a bunch of smaller nations working together?” I asked with a smile as we sat in the pit and waited for stew to cook.
“Legally yeah. There are eleven regions of our nation, including the actual Willow Creek region further north. Which we’re currently headed to actually, it has the legal capital and so we’ll need to go there for anything involving interactions with other nations. It’s a big hassle, but Dekarru already radioed ahead to the elders that something was up so we should have everyone there within a couple of weeks at the very latest. Maybe they elders will all beat us there though, some have much faster transport than this lovely old gal.” She smiled and patted the floor of the vardo lovingly.
“Okay, so there are eleven different… what, cultures?”
“Oh, way more than eleven, the various groups just agreed on dividing things into the eleven regions with an elder to represent and vote for each region to make things easier for us all. The regional elders are a bit like governors who work with smaller village or nomad leaders to figure out what’s best for the most people in their region. It’s honestly a big mess whenever something requires a full vote from all of Willow Creek. We’re a nation on paper, but in practice we’re thousands of smaller groups that just mostly get along and will only put aside issues to work together if something tries to push us. Kinda like my family. Like, I will torment and insult and smack my sisters around plenty but if someone else tries we are all one against the outside threat.”
“Sounds complex.” I grunted and crossed my arms thinking about how much of a mess something like a census would be and intentionally avoiding thinking about family. That seemed to always make me squirm inside. Orphan issues I guess.
“Oh it is, but we rarely need to do anything like that. Or that used to be true anyway, we have a couple cities now and refugees are constantly coming for help so things are more of a mess than usual. But hey, Uvtrayl showed us how to make radios a decade back so at least communication has gotten easier. Damned useful stuff that arcanicraft, glad we have Brigga with us to keep it running.” she smiled and turned, laying down and putting her head in my lap. “Mmm, much better.”
I smirked and just slid my hand down to play with her hair absently “Brigga works with arcanicraft?”
“Oh yeah, she’s got Status stuff for it, Class and Skills ya know? That’s not a secret by the way, I do know how to keep those when I need to. But we are pretty open here.” She giggled and waggled her eyebrows and I poked her cheek.
“Dork.” I shook my head with a chuckle “So you’re a cook? You seem to like it a lot.” I wanted to know more about her than Briggavel at that moment so I drew the subject back in that direction.
“Oh I love it! It’s seriously my life.” she beamed talking about the subject.
“So why…” I motioned to the vardo around us.
“I like to travel almost as much as I like to cook. Green Mother’s Path folk don’t travel much because going to new places usually means clothes and manners and social expectation crap that drives us all crazy. We just want to be us, but most places want us to be some watered down and boring version of ourselves.” She let out an overly dramatic sigh “I jut wanna see new places, meet new people, experience new aspects of life, and I wanna do it with my tits out damn it!”
I grinned at her and nodded in agreement “Yeah, I’m starting to feel that too honestly. Even if you girls are making it awkward for me on purpose.” I gave her a fake glare with a slight curl of my lip.
“Whaaaaat, you’re new and you keep having the most interesting reactions! Jaina adapted in like an hour, she’s the best. You are still fun to mess with so we’ll keep doing it.” She tilted her head “Like, at least unless you actually want us to stop. If it’s really bothering you we can-”
I shook my head “No, no. I’m enjoying feeling like I’m part of the group and not just someone visiting. Even if I am exactly that.” I sighed.
She bit her lip in thought before sitting up and putting her hand on my cheek. “So, I mean, you don’t have to be? Not saying you’d be perfect with our group, we’re still getting to know each other after all, but you seem pretty good with the Path stuff so far?” She phrased it all as questions, I figured she was trying to not make me feel pressured. Like a ‘just think about it and come to your own decision’ feeling. She was nice, thoughtful.
“I…” I sat back and grunted quietly as I thought “I really like it in the vardo with you all so far, it’s super comfortable and you’ve been great. But I have so much shit piling up on me that even if I ignore the fact that it would draw a bunch of it to you all, I still have to figure out more before I can make any big life choices like that, or something?” I let out a breath of annoyance at having to think about the big things again instead of the busty orc’s cooking and naked joy.
She pulled me against her, my face damned near disappearing between her green hills as she pet the back of my head softly. “It’s okay Esme, we’ll be here to help you figure it all out if we can. And hey, we like to travel so maybe when you’re gallivanting around the world doing Saint things, we could be your mobile support staff!” Then with a wicked giggle “Then you could support us with your ‘staff’ in return, cutie.” Yep, there it is, she got a reaction from my body with that. “Yes! I am the sexiest!” She jumped up and cheered upon noticing the effect. “Now come on and gimme a hand oh flustered one, it’s time to put in the soft veggies.”
I huffed and gave her a half false glare and she just giggled and headed towards the stove. But I was fast enough to give her ample ass a sharp smack and make her squeak before getting up to go help the absolute brat.
