Chapter 31: 31
Chapter 31: A Delayed Reform
Morning – Daehan International School Auditorium
A tense silence hung over the school. In front of hundreds of students and teachers, Gevran stood at the student council podium—not for a routine speech, but for a major announcement.
> "Today, we submit 7 reform proposals to the board of trustees. Including financial transparency, protection for bullying victims, and freedom of expression within our school."
Cheers erupted from the student body, though some teachers looked visibly uneasy.
Han Jimin whispered, "We're really making history, Gevran."
---
Afternoon – Board of Trustees Office
Gevran, accompanied by student representatives and two Daehan alumni, attended a closed-door meeting. Shareholders and education figures sat in a circle, their expressions cold and sharp.
One board member, Mr. Jang, spoke first. "We respect your passion, but school is not a place for naive idealism."
An alumnus shot back, "Then what is it for? A place for manipulation and shady business?"
Tension rose. But then a senior board member spoke calmly, "Give them one month. If the reforms fail, everything returns to how it was."
Gevran met his gaze with steel in his eyes. "One month is enough. We'll prove it."
---
Evening – School Grounds
Posters promoting change were put up. A trial run of an online grievance system was launched. Student forums were once again allowed.
But not long after…
Shocking news spread.
One of the teachers supporting the reforms was found unconscious in the staff room—his personal locker broken into and important documents missing.
Rhea: "This isn't an accident. Someone's trying to sabotage us from the inside."
---
Midnight – Gevran's Room
Gevran sat, staring at the files secretly copied from the teacher's locker. Inside were school financial records… and the name of a suspicious foreign company: "JEDU Corporation."
> "So this is the root of it all… an international education corporation funding the system to gain control."
Gevran clenched his fist.
> "You want to turn us into products.
But we will become people who think."
---
> The reform has begun,
but the true enemy has just revealed its face.
One month is all they have.
One month to fight a system that runs deeper than anyone imagined—across borders and beneath institutions.
---
Late Night – Secret Chatroom: "Mirror Council"
Inside a hidden network forum, masked aliases began to stir.
> MirrorSpire: "They've found traces of JEDU. Accelerate Phase II." BlackGlass: "Reassign agent inside Daehan. Target: Teacher Yun was compromised." GreyEcho: "What about the boy?" MirrorSpire: "Let's see how long his conviction survives… when he's alone."
Somewhere across the globe, servers activated. Surveillance eyes turned toward Daehan.
---
Elsewhere – Cain Seo-Jun's Apartment
Cain stared at a wall filled with red-string connections, photos of student council members, financial records, and even Gevran's family.
A man in a suit stood behind him. "You're really going this far?"
Cain didn't look back. "You don't reform a house filled with rot. You burn it… and rebuild from ash."
He paused, then added with a bitter smirk, "And I've waited long enough for that fire."
---
Next Morning – Daehan International School Courtyard
Gevran stood before the new "Student Reform Board" meeting, surrounded by students testing out the new anonymous grievance kiosks. A girl approached with shaking hands.
"My friend tried to report a bullying case last semester… but her record got 'lost.' Can I still file it?"
Gevran knelt slightly, looking her in the eye. "You don't have to ask permission to be heard anymore."
She nodded, tears forming.
From afar, someone took photos of the exchange—captioning it:
> "A leader who listens."
---
Meanwhile – Office of Principal Yoo
Yoo received an unmarked envelope slid under his door. Inside—photos of Gevran, meeting logs, and a note:
> "One scandal is all it takes."
His hand trembled slightly. "They're getting desperate," he murmured, dialing a number.
> "Yes, this is Yoo. I think it's time I stop being silent."
---
Night – Gevran's Apartment
Ryu Haesung, Park Jiwan, Seo Minjae, and Choi Eunwoo arrived unexpectedly, each carrying laptops and snacks.
"We're not letting you fight this alone," Jiwan said, already opening schematics of the school's outdated server system.
Eunwoo smiled, tapping her screen. "Let's expose JEDU's reach across other schools too."
Gevran blinked, taken aback for a moment, before nodding with a small smile.
> "Then let's do this together. Not as rebels… but as architects of the new world."
---
> One student lit the fire.
But now the flame spreads—fueled by truth, loyalty, and resolve.
The storm of reform is no longer a dream.
It's a reckoning.
