Break The Silence

Chapter 31: Chapter 31

"So you're telling me, that the famous Park Jimin killed his brother and has been haunting by Jisun since last eleven years.?" Yoongi asked in bewilderment, he clicked his tongue and took few sips of his coffee.

Kyungmi nodded. "I wouldn't believe if I hadn't witnessed by myself." She said, refusing to drink her coffee. "You're the only one who could help them."

Yoongi inhaled a sharp breath through his teeth, "I can't say that I can solve this problem or not, but I'm certainly going to try." He answered, after taking a few seconds of pause, he continued. "If I speak honestly, when this murder had happened many things remained unsolved." He suddenly recalled the old memories when the first time, he had seen Jimin on tv, a mere teenager who killed his own brother.

Kyungmi roads her brows, she leaned closer to the table and asked. "What do you mean?"

Yoongi cleared his throat, "Back then, my Mom was a journalist, she was reporting on the murder constantly, at that time media got so obsessed with this case, everyone wanted to know something about Jimin." He began to speak, "My Mom discovered some dark secrets about the Park family."

Kyungmi's heart raced as she struggled to understand her feelings toward Jimin. Was it sympathy, or was she drawn to him because of Taehyung? Whatever the reason, she was now fully committed to the case. Solving this decades-old mystery had become her personal responsibility.

"What secrets?" Kyungmi asked in a curious tone, every thud of her heart echoed in her ears.

Yoongi hesitated at first, but he knew that trusting Kyungmi and sharing some unknown facts about the case might help Jimin. Even though he had never met Jimin in person, he remembered feeling sorry for him when he first heard the news ten years ago.

Yoongi leaned in closer and lowered his voice as he spoke. "Jimin was adopted, and very few people know the truth. He was seven years old when Mr. and Mrs. Park took him in. They already had an older son before adopting Jimin. He died at the age of sixteen, nobody knew what exactly happened with him."

Kyungmi's eyes widened in shock. She already knew Jimin was adopted, but she had no idea Mr. and Mrs. Park had another son besides Jisun, who died at young age.

"They had another son?" she asked, her voice full of disbelief.

Leaning back slightly, she tried to make sense of what Yoongi had just said. "Why was this never mentioned before? I thought Jisun was their only child before Jimin came into the picture."

Her thoughts spun with questions, but one stood out clearly. "What happened to him? Why has no one ever talked about him?"

Yoongi shrugged his shoulders, "Nobody knew what happened with him?" He said, "But when My Mom's boss shared the information with Parks, they got mad, even they paid a huge amount of money to hide this secret from the world."

"Were they Rich?" Kyungmi asked.

Yoongi nodded, "But they also kept this secret." He said.

Kyungmi stared at Yoongi, stunned by his words. "They paid to hide it?" she asked, her voice rising slightly. "Why would they go to such lengths? What were they trying to protect?"

Her hands gripped the edge of the table as frustration bubbled inside her. "This doesn't make sense. If they were so rich, why not just be honest? Why hide something that could have explained so much about their family?"

She shook her head, trying to piece it all together. "I think they played a huge part in Jisun's murder."

"There could be possibilities." Yoongi agreed.

"You should discuss these things with Taehyung." Kyungmi suggested. "Let's go now." She stood up in a rush.

"I can't go right now." Yoongi said.

"But why?" Kyungmi asked in concern. "Don't tell me you're not going to help, Yoongi you're my only hope, and I already promised Taehyung, that I would help him to solve this mystery."

Yoongi stood up, "Calm down. I'm not denying to help." He assured, gestured her to sit back.

Kyungmi pulled the chair and forcefully sat on it. "Then why you can't meet him today."

"I have another meeting with my client, so I would be busy in this week." Yoongi replied, "But this Saturday, I'm free so let's meet Taehyung this weekend." He suggested.

Kyungmi's concern grew further, "And what if he attacked Jimin again?" She asked worriedly.

Yoongi let out a heavy sigh and reached behind his chair. He slipped his hand into his bag and pulled out a small, ancient-looking cross pendant. The pendant was tarnished, its once shiny surface now dull with age. Intricate patterns were carved into the metal, and a tiny red gem sat in the center, catching the light faintly.

"I was going to give this pendant to my client, but you can keep it, make sure Jimin wear it properly and never takes out." Yoongi said, as he extended the pendant to Kyungmi, "This pendant has powers to protect anyone from all the evil forces. Jisun won't be able to contact him for a while. " He added.

Kyungmi took the pendant and squeezed in her hand, "Thanks for this." She greeted.

"You don't need be thankful, it's my responsibility." Yoongi replied.
