Broken Possessors of Infinite Regression Academy

Chapter 128

As I jumped down from the top of the castle, I made my way towards the entrance, where a group of werewolf-like creatures were facing off against the succubi. I recalled they were called werewolves because of their appearance.

I glanced up at the sky; the red moon was only half full, so it seemed I wouldn’t have to deal with any troublesome situations just yet.

The succubi immediately stepped aside as I approached, not even bothering to look at me. This place wouldn’t be any better for a long stay; it had started off decently, but it was getting worse by the minute.

“What’s this? A human?”

The werewolf at the front stomped his foot, a clear challenge. They seemed to have sent their more capable fighters, as they all wore varying amounts of armor.

“I clearly asked for the Queen, and you bring me a human? Are you presenting me with a representative of your sex slaves? Are you all in heat for this human male? Hah, how ridiculous.”

“Did you just call me a sex slave?”

“What else could you be if you’re keeping a human male around?”

“……It’s none of your business. Keep your mouth shut.”

The succubi glanced at me cautiously, unsure if my mood had soured. If they thought my treatment of them was unfair, so be it. I knew how humans were viewed by demons.

“So, because you’re all in heat for this pathetic human, you’re telling me to mind my own business? Hey, kid. You must be quite the stud, huh? Those whores seem to be dying for you.”

A werewolf, easily three meters tall and wearing only a gauntlet on his left hand, stepped forward, his demeanor typically demonic. He bared his fangs and leered at me, clearly trying to intimidate me.

“I’d like to see how good you are. If you don’t want to lose your dick, you’d better behave.”

“Enough. Who’s your leader?”

At my question, the werewolves exchanged glances, unsure how to respond. Then, as if on cue, they burst into raucous laughter.

“What did you just say? Who’s our leader? Hahaha! You’ve lost your mind, thinking you can boss us around! You must have lost all sense of self-preservation from being nestled between those tits!”

“If you don’t want to answer, that’s fine. I’ll just beat it out of one of you and find out.”

“……You’re really pushing it now.”

The werewolf at the front bared his teeth and growled.

“Act like a sex slave if you’re going to be one, human male. You should be grateful I’m in a good mood right now. Otherwise, I’d rip that cock of yours off and shove it down your throat.”

I grabbed his hand as it reached for my head and twisted it. His upper body twisted along with his arm as the joint bent beyond its limit. Surprisingly, he remained calm, even as his wrist bent at a 180-degree angle.

“You’re pretty strong for a human. Impressive. I guess you need to be, considering you have to fuck all day!”

The werewolves erupted in laughter once more. I wondered how long they could keep this up. I applied more force, twisting his arm further. As the joint reached its limit, the werewolf finally grimaced in pain and knelt, unable to withstand the pressure any longer.

“Aaaaaaah!”

His pride seemed to take a backseat to the pain in his arm, as he desperately tried to free himself, using both hands this time. But it was futile.

The werewolves at the back finally realized something was amiss and stopped laughing. It was hard to miss, with their leader writhing on the floor like that.

“Any of you wolves think you’re the best at navigating? If so, raise your hand. I’ll let you live.”

“Shut up and die!”

A massive palm, far larger than my face, and sharp claws aimed for my head. It seemed they had changed their strategy and were now aiming to kill me.

Slice.

Of course, I was much faster. What used to be an arm was now three chunks of meat, and what used to be a head rolled on the ground. The body, which had been desperately trying to free the twisted arm, went limp as the life drained from it.

A beat later, blood spurted from the severed neck.

“What, what is this!”

“The sub-chief has fallen!”

The werewolf at the very back, who seemed a bit taller than the others, must have been the leader. I swung the Dragon Tooth Sword, flinging the blood off it, and surveyed the remaining werewolves. There were twenty-two of them in total, and not one of them was ready to fight.

‘I’ll just leave the one at the end alive.’

I activated both Physical Enhancement and the Sword Saint’s Acceleration at the same time and dashed towards the last werewolf in the line. Suddenly, the world seemed to move in slow motion.

“St—!”

“Com—!”

I confirmed that the three werewolves at the front were slowly unsheathing their claws and swung the Dragon Tooth Sword. The blade, made from a dragon’s fang, sliced through their spines, muscles, and fur in an instant.

After dispatching the other two in the same manner, I turned to the next row of three werewolves, who had their claws halfway out.

I stomped the ground and thrust the sword into the mouth of the werewolf at the front, pulling it out through the top of his head. Then, I twisted my body to bisect the other two. The third row had just finished unsheathing their claws.

There were seven rows of three werewolves each, and it didn’t take long to dispatch them all and reach the last werewolf at the end.

“Wh, what are you…! Are you really human?!”

The werewolf at the front, who had been about to roar a battle cry, was now in three pieces, and the one at the back stared at me in shock, his eyes darting wildly between the dismembered corpses and me.

“I’m human. What else would I be?”

I swallowed the blood that had risen to my throat and used healing magic on myself. A faint green light enveloped my body, and the churning in my stomach eased slightly.

Using Physical Enhancement and the Sword Saint’s Acceleration at the same time caused quite a backlash, but the effect was well worth it. I’d need to get used to it, though.

“Then Astaroth really was a traitor! Not only did she run away with a human, but she also handed over the entire tribe! What a shameless whore, with no sense of pride!”

“What are you talking about? It’s been ages since a new Queen was born.”

First, I cut off his legs below the knees to prevent him from escaping. The werewolf screamed and fell to the ground. Since these werewolves were several dozen times stronger than humans, I also cut off his arms below the elbows to be sure.

“Aaaaaah! Wh, what do you want?!”

“I told you, I need a guide. Why aren’t you listening?”

I poked his nose with the tip of my sword and used healing magic on his severed left arm. The severed limb regenerated as if nothing had happened, and the werewolf, forgetting his pain, fiddled with his restored left arm in astonishment.

“If you promise to do a proper job, I’ll reattach your hand and foot. How about it?”

“For the time being, there won’t be anyone daring to challenge us.”

Ulbram looked down at his subordinates, who were holding a victory celebration feast with the captured prisoners, and calculated their next destination. Only traces of their feast, blood around their mouths, remained.

“Now is the perfect opportunity to expand our territory.”

“Yes, I agree.”

The Demon King’s army was in disarray, with the Demon King’s Castle in a state of flux, and the remaining army commanders were too few to spare attention to this area, as the Demon World was vast.

“What about the ones who went to the succubi?”

“They’ll be back in a couple of days. They always come back after that long.”

“They’re definitely biding their time. If they weren’t, they would have either joined the Demon King’s army by now or attempted to make the Queen the Demon King. There’s no other reason for them to remain holed up in their territory.”

Cunning bitches. Ulbram licked his lips, recalling the succubus he had recently bedded. If he could bring those succubi under his control, he would have a significant advantage in future battles.

“The fact that they’re still hiding in their territory even after a new Succubus Queen has been born suggests that there might be a problem with the Queen’s whereabouts…”

His subordinate stopped speaking as Ulbram’s attention was already elsewhere. His werewolf senses, with their incredible hearing and smell, detected someone nearby, amidst the feast of blood.

“It’s a human. There’s only one, or maybe two.”

“You’re sure it’s a human?”

“Absolutely.”

Ulbram growled. They were in the heart of the Demon World, on the opposite side from human territory. The only human he knew who could have made it this far alone was one person.

“Battle stations!”

At Ulbram’s thunderous command, his werewolf subordinates dropped the prisoners they had been eating and prepared for combat. If Ulbram’s suspicions were correct, even with all of them attacking, victory was not guaranteed.

His curiosity was soon satisfied as a human, head covered in human clothing and face hidden by a strange mask, emerged from the forest on the other side. In his right hand was a sky-blue sword with droplets of blood forming along the blade, and in his left, a gray-hued sword.

‘Not a Sword Saint.’

Ulbram breathed a sigh of relief. Sword Saint didn’t use such weapons, and the aura he felt from the human was far less than that of a Sword Saint.

“Did you get lost, human?”

Ulbram’s voice boomed across the distance.

Even though he knew the human wasn’t the Sword Saint, Ulbram remained vigilant. It could be an illusion created by another demon, and even if it was a human, their presence here meant they were a formidable opponent.

‘A human daring to come here alone? There’s already one like that, isn’t there?’

“No, I came looking for you.”

A mana-infused voice immediately responded. Ulbram stopped a subordinate who was about to charge forward indignantly and asked again.

“What business do you have here?”

“Hmm, you’re calmer than I expected. I thought you’d charge at me as soon as you saw a human.”

“I am to be the Demon King, and a Demon King must always maintain a cool head.”

“Oh? Me too. I have similar aspirations.”

Mana swirled around the gray sword, unsullied by blood. Ulbram unsheathed his claws, ready to roar a battle cry at any moment. His subordinate was bewildered by his restraint, but Ulbram paid him no mind.

“It’s been a while since I’ve practiced dual-wielding.”

“Is he really……gone……?”

Elder Lich sat on a bone throne, clacking his teeth as he pondered. It had been a long time since the Demon King had disappeared, and it was now safe to assume he was dead.

The First Army Commander still went around beheading anyone who dared to suggest such a thing, but he couldn’t do that forever. In a few years, he would have to accept reality.

“Then……”

Elder Lich’s eye sockets, now just sockets filled with bones, scanned the undead army contained within the orb. The army now numbered over two million, an unimaginable force. Even a Sword Saint would be overwhelmed by this tide of rotting flesh and bones.

A long-suppressed desire ignited within him—the desire to rule over both the living and the dead. His bony fingers tightened on the armrest.

“Fifth Army Commander.”

Suddenly, a figure appeared as if a shadow spreading in the air—the First Army Commander, clad in black armor, with an empty space where his head should be, and a helmet tucked under his left arm. Still a prickly opponent. Elder Lich hid his true thoughts and casually clacked his teeth.

“What brings you here……?”

“Have you ever heard of anyone suppressing the blasphemers in the Eastern Plains?”

“Eastern Plains……no, never……”

“I see.”

The First Army Commander asked again, “Why do you ask……?”

“Reports have come in that the blasphemers in the Eastern Plains are being swiftly crushed. If there’s a demon capable of such a feat, there are only two possibilities.”

“And their speed……?”

“Thirteen tribes annihilated in three days.”

The use of the word ‘annihilated’ suggested an incredible speed. Elder Lich searched his memory for any demon in his ranks who possessed such strength.

“So, they’re not forming a new force, but rather, they can’t stand the blasphemers daring to call themselves Demon Kings, and they’ve taken up their swords to crush them. I commend that honorable soul who has not forgotten his loyalty.”

Durahan stood tall and held his sword vertically in front of his chest.

“I shall bestow upon him a token of my appreciation and loyalty. May I leave the Demon King’s Castle in your care for a while?”
