Chapter 45: Behind the Scenes

Kyle's car has been specially modified, boasting defense levels far superior to Nick Fury's personal vehicle, though it remains unarmed. After all, while they may appear to be businessmen, they are not arms dealers like Tony Stark.

Fortunately, the interior sustained minimal damage, though the left door was severely deformed, inwardly buckled with significant dents after the attack.

"Red Queen, give me the situation outside," Kyle ordered.

The urgency of the situation spurred him to remove his suit, knowing it would hinder him in the imminent fight. He quickly grabbed two guns, loading them with ammunition, while the Red Queen displayed the surroundings on his mobile device.

Four sleek, black, unmarked motorcycles surrounded Kyle's car, and there were individuals actively damaging the vehicle. It seemed that the cutter used to breach the car's outer defense had only penetrated the first layer, and these assailants were likely to react swiftly and focus on attacking the windows next.

"Who do you think you are, a bunch of rookies?" Kyle muttered angrily. He was far from happy—he had barely managed to get home after a long day at work, only to have these individuals push him to his limits.

From the display on his phone, it was clear that the left side of the car was surrounded, leaving no chance of escape. The right side was pressed against a wall, and their only option was to break through the left side.

"Master, I'll deploy smoke bombs to disorient them temporarily. The Red Queen has already dispatched help," Gasco reported, eager for action. Gasco had stored numerous weapons in the car, prepared for this very scenario, and was almost thrilled to finally use them.

He opened another compartment, revealing grenades, smoke bombs, and flashbangs. "Let's do this."

Kyle nodded. "I'll follow your lead," he agreed. Although a skilled fighter, he recognized Gasco's expertise and knew it was best to trust his judgment in this moment of crisis.

Kyle picked up a grenade, securing it on his person. He'd soon need to consider modifications to the car, ensuring it was equipped with better countermeasures in the future. After all, relying solely on defense felt a bit too passive.

"Prepare for battle!" Gasco grunted. He hit the lock button again to roll down the car window and hurled the flashbangs and smoke bombs out. But instead of confusion, they were met with a barrage of gunfire.

Gasco, however, wasn't just any ordinary person. Activating his "bullet time" ability, he dodged the incoming fire with ease, moving like a blur.

As the flashbangs went off, Kyle and Gasco exited the car. They had both been injected with bio-enhancement serums, which significantly boosted their physical abilities. The smoke bombs didn't slow them down, and the flashbangs left their enemies disoriented.

"I never imagined I'd be fighting on the front lines myself," Kyle said, a mix of amusement and frustration in his tone. With a pistol in hand, he emerged from the cover of smoke and swiftly took down two attackers with well-placed shots. He rolled back behind a stone pillar just as a hail of bullets rained in.

This group of attackers was clearly well-trained, able to pinpoint his location and retaliate immediately after hearing gunshots. If not for the serum, Kyle would have never been able to move fast enough to escape their deadly fire.

Meanwhile, Gasco was in full combat mode. The air was thick with the sound of rapid gunfire as he relentlessly fought back. While Kyle relied on agility and stealth for sneak attacks, Gasco was in his element, facing down foes head-on.

"Master, are you okay?" Gasco called out, dodging through the thick smoke.

Kyle, still recovering from his earlier wounds, answered, "I'm fine. Just a scratch." He wrapped a piece of cloth around his left arm, which had been grazed by a bullet. Dust covered his face, but his anger was growing. Based on the group's tactics and appearance, it seemed they were likely affiliated with Hydra, and their goal was probably the Sumerian slate.

He hadn't received any word from other forces, and he hadn't yet had time to retaliate for past wrongs, but now, it seemed, it was personal.

"There are nine of them left," Gasco continued. "I'll use my abilities to draw their attention, and then you can finish them off, Master."

Gasco quickly stripped off his butler uniform, preparing for the fight to intensify. The Red Queen had called for backup, but it would take five minutes for reinforcements to arrive. They needed to stall for as long as possible.

"If Natasha were here," Kyle mused, "they never would have gotten this close."

"I've got this," Gasco assured him. He turned to Kyle with a determined look.

Kyle reloaded his gun, steadying his resolve. The time for planning was over; now, it was all about surviving.

Gasco activated his ability, and the world around him seemed to slow down. The speed of the environment decelerated drastically, allowing Gasco to move with incredible precision, dodging incoming bullets like they were nothing more than toys.

"Hmph, weaklings," Gasco muttered as he propelled himself forward. Using his enhanced strength, he leapt effortlessly over ten meters, clearing the distance between him and his foes in an instant.

He wasn't carrying any weapons on him, relying solely on his enhanced combat skills and raw power to carve a path through the enemy ranks.

"Attack! Attack now!" the leader of the squad ordered, clearly shaken by Gasco's overwhelming display of strength. The group had encountered enhanced individuals before one in their ranks even had a metal arm but they never expected someone to leap over ten meters in a single bound.

As they fired their rifles, Gasco did his best to shield himself with two car doors he ripped off a nearby vehicle. They weren't as sturdy as Kyle's modified car, but they provided enough protection for a short time.

"Is it over? My turn," Gasco taunted. After the rapid fire subsided, the attackers scrambled to reload their rifles.

Seeing their vulnerability, Gasco seized the moment. He hurled the car doors like deadly projectiles, and with brutal precision, one door slammed into two enemies, knocking them out of the fight. The second door continued its trajectory, crushing two more against a wall.

Gunshots rang out once more, and two more attackers fell.

Now, only three remained.

"Leave them alive. I need answers," Kyle ordered, emerging from his cover. He shot two more enemies, each shot precise and lethal, before moving forward.

As the remaining three enemies exchanged quiet glances, one of them muttered a last declaration, "Long live Hydra!" They then bit down on the cyanide capsules hidden in their mouths. Within seconds, the poison took effect, and all three collapsed, dead before they hit the ground.

Kyle stood over them, the dust settling around him. His focus never wavered; there were more questions to answer, and Hydra was going to give him the answers he needed.
