Chapter 132
After Wei Mingxuan left, the classroom remained quiet.
Quan Zhisui was no longer shaking her shoulders, but a smile still lingered on her face.
What’s going on with the Wei family? Are they mass-producing green tea? Each one tries to outdo the other in pretending!
Those who don’t know the inside story might easily think that Wei Shixu is being too harsh and Wei Mingxuan is pitiful.
The classmates looked at her with confusion, then glanced at Wei Shixu, who was sitting in the front row.
They noticed that Wei Shixu seemed to be smiling too, though not as obviously as Quan Zhisui.
Zhuge Ying slapped her forehead heavily: “This is insane.”
What kind of weird development is this?
Kong Mingze, on the other hand, looked completely clueless. Had something happened that he didn’t know about?
After calming down, Quan Zhisui sent Wei Shixu a message.
[Quan Zhisui: Was he here for you?]
[Wei Shixu: I’ve always been their target, the persistent kind.]
[Quan Zhisui: He’s not as skilled as you. It was too abrupt, not as convincing as you. You always have a prelude before causing trouble!]
[Wei Shixu: The three seconds he spent looking at you just now made me want to gouge his eyes out.]
Quan Zhisui didn’t reply.
After evening self-study ended that day, Wei Shixu pulled Quan Zhisui to a secluded path behind the teaching building.
He held her hand and pulled her into his embrace.
“I’m jealous,” he said.
Quan Zhisui pushed him away: “You’re jealous just because he looked at me? What if someone makes eye contact with me in the future? Will you go crazy?”
Wei Shixu leaned closer to her shoulder: “No, it’s because you smiled. You smiled because of him.”
Quan Zhisui chuckled again: “Your family is so interesting.”
Wei Shixu: “He’s not even worth calling family.”
Quan Zhisui: “But I just found out that he’s actually your biological brother.”
As she spoke, she pushed him again, this time with more force, shoving him away.
Wei Shixu could only grab her hand again and said, “It’s not surprising. I have a bunch of brothers and sisters—biological, half-siblings from the same father, half-siblings from the same mother, cousins, you name it. There are plenty of them.”
Quan Zhisui: “How did he get involved with Yan Guanghua? I thought the Wei Family and the Yan Family were sworn enemies?”
Wei Shixu: “Years ago, my parents already conspired with the Yan Family. To them, profit comes first. Wei Mingxuan has always been influenced by them, and as the eldest grandson, I’ve been overshadowing him in every way since childhood. He was furious when that kidnapping plan failed.”
Quan Zhisui suddenly looked up and asked, “Are you playing the victim again?”
“No~!” Wei Shixu’s tone grew more emotional. “I said I wouldn’t pretend anymore. I’m not pitiful at all. I’m strong, very strong.”
Quan Zhisui smiled faintly and asked, “With such a special identity—being a Wei descendant and also cozying up to Yan Guanghua—what exactly is he trying to do?”
Wei Shixu looked at her and smiled: “Have you forgotten? It’s not just you who’s about to come of age. I am too.”
Quan Zhisui was stunned and looked up: “Wasn’t that matter settled years ago?”
Wei Shixu: “It was settled, but they’re not willing to let it go.”
Quan Zhisui: “What are you planning to do?”
Wei Shixu: “It’s boring. I’m just toying with them.”
Quan Zhisui looked at him playfully: “Are you really toying with them?”
Wei Shixu sighed: “Not really. I ended up getting annoyed. He actually made you laugh.”
Quan Zhisui: “You’re so petty.”
“Close your eyes,” he suddenly said.
Quan Zhisui frowned: “I don’t agree.”
Wei Shixu: “No, just a hug.”
The moonlight was blocked by the trees, and the streetlamp was far away. In the vast darkness, Wei Shixu’s deep breathing could be heard.
He held Quan Zhisui tightly in his arms, resting his head on her shoulder as if he wanted to crush her.
“I like you… Quan Zhisui… I like you…”
As he spoke, he sighed.
……
Wei Mingxuan’s appearance added some spice to Quan Zhisui’s otherwise monotonous senior year life. He would occasionally come to the third floor to look for Wei Shixu, only to be chased away by Wei Shixu throwing books at him.
Zhuge Ying and Kong Mingze were numb to it, while the other classmates became even more afraid of Wei Shixu.
Quan Zhisui ignored all of this and focused on preparing for the college entrance exams.
Wei Shixu would hold her hand every day after evening self-study, occasionally asking for a hug, whispering endless sweet nothings, and even acting spoiled.
His voice was quite pleasant.
……
Time flew by, and it was already late October. Quan Zhisui, who was sensitive to the cold, had already started wearing her long-sleeved school uniform as soon as autumn arrived.
One noon, Ling Ruoyun came to find her to have lunch together.
After entering their senior year, lunch buddies were often away for training or competitions, barely spending any time at school. Whenever they returned, they would usually seek out Quan Zhisui.
“I made it to the provincial team!” Ling Ruoyun exclaimed excitedly. “Let me treat you to lunch!”
Quan Zhisui was equally excited: “Then I’m having two big chicken drumsticks and three lion’s head meatballs today!”
Ling Ruoyun: “Hahaha! Go for it!”
The two walked side by side toward the cafeteria when…
“Hey, classmate! Can you help me?” A voice called out from the side.
Quan Zhisui turned her head and saw a boy holding a small cat, looking helpless.
The kitten seemed to be only two months old, its hind legs immobile while its upper body struggled wildly.
Ling Ruoyun: “Oh no! What’s wrong with the kitten?”
The boy shook his head nervously: “It’s injured. I don’t know what to do.”
Ling Ruoyun: “Take it to the infirmary!”
The boy: “But…”
Ling Ruoyun grew impatient: “But what?”
The boy: “I don’t know where the infirmary is, and I haven’t…”
Ling Ruoyun grabbed him: “Stop dithering! I’ll take you there!”
With that, she handed her meal card to Quan Zhisui: “Can you get my food for me? Order whatever you want for yourself!”
Quan Zhisui nodded: “Sure.”
Ling Ruoyun immediately dragged the boy away, her tone urgent and even a little fierce.
Quan Zhisui took the meal card and entered the cafeteria. After getting two meals, she found a seat and waited.
However, instead of Ling Ruoyun, the boy returned.
“Hi, classmate. I’m Xu Shifang from Class 5, Grade 10,” he introduced himself.
Quan Zhisui asked: “Where’s my friend?”
Xu Shifang smiled: “She’s staying with the kitten in the infirmary. The kitten’s injuries are quite serious, so she’s worried.”
Quan Zhisui took out her phone and saw a message from Ling Ruoyun.
Xu Shifang pointed at the two meals on the table: “You got an extra one. It’d be a waste, so…”
“Oh, I’ll eat both,” Quan Zhisui said without hesitation, placing both meals in front of herself and starting to devour them.
Xu Shifang lowered his head, looking embarrassed: “Actually, classmate, I forgot my meal card. Can I borrow yours? I’ll transfer the money to you on WeChat.”
Quan Zhisui glanced at him, then turned and called out loudly: “Zuo Zichen! Come help a classmate!”
Zuo Zichen, who had been waiting in line, rushed over immediately: “What’s up?”
Quan Zhisui pointed at Xu Shifang: “A freshman forgot his meal card.”
“Leave it to me!” Zuo Zichen grabbed Xu Shifang and pulled him toward the line: “Come on, your Zuo-ge’s got you covered.”
