Black Mist Marsh.
Unknowingly, Zhou Chun had surpassed half a year since his arrival at Black Mist Marsh.
During this half-year, he had explored most parts of Black Mist Marsh, except for those suspected of harboring Fourth Order Demon Beasts, which he dared not delve into. By now, there were few secrets left here for him.
In this time, he had garnered quite a few of the local spiritual objects and even slain a Third Order middle-grade Demon Beast python, acquiring a Demon Core.
He also killed a middle-stage Purple Mansion Phase Cultivator who had ambushed him and took all his belongings.
But Zhou Chun had yet to find any news of the Bandit Cultivator Murong Luo he was searching for, nor did he encounter any attacks from members of their organization.
This complete lack of progress was truly frustrating.
Furthermore, the environment of Black Mist Marsh only intensified the irritation any normal person would feel.
However, perhaps due to the effectiveness of his decade-long secluded cultivation, Zhou Chun was able to keep his composure, showing no signs of impatience.
After some reflection, he decided to change his identity and continue searching for Murong Luo.
First, he left Black Mist Marsh and, using "Human-Faced Fish Glue," changed his appearance to that of the deceased Zhou Zhengbo.
Then he re-entered the depths of Black Mist Marsh.
Persistence does pay off. After another four months of searching within Black Mist Marsh, Zhou Chun finally made progress.
That day, as Zhou Chun wandered through Black Mist Marsh looking for his target, he suddenly heard the sounds of an intense magical battle.
He quickly headed towards the source of the noise and, using the "Insect Puppet Technique," he took over a "Mystical Armor Golden Feather" Demon Insect to approach the battlefield, where he spotted both parties engaged in combat.
Both sides of the fight were Purple Mansion Phase Cultivators; however, one side had two people, while the other was a lone individual.
The one being besieged was an elderly man in black attire at the Late Stage of Purple Mansion, whereas the two assailants were a middle-aged couple: the man at the Late Stage of Purple Mansion and the woman at the Middle Stage.
"Old man here is an Elder of the Blackwood Sect. How dare you attack me? Are you not afraid that the Supreme Elder of my sect will come and put you all to death?" the black-clad Elder asserted with fury as he fervently deployed Dharma Treasures and spells to fend off the couple's offensive.
In the face of his threats, the male Cultivator sneered, "A mere Blackwood Sect without even a single Nascent Soul Stage Cultivator – what is there for us to fear? Even if you were merely a lowly Elder of Blackwood Sect or of a major sect such as Evergreen View, we would still dare to strike!"
"Indeed, my husband speaks true. The insignificant Blackwood Sect, with only a few Golden Core Stage Cultivators, could they possibly come to this accursed Black Mist Marsh just to seek revenge for such a spent old man?" the female Cultivator also sneered, her words overflowing with disdain for both the Blackwood Sect and the black-clad Elder.
Hearing the words of the Bandit Cultivator couple, the Elder's face turned exceedingly grim, as if he had realized something. With a grave tone, he looked at the two and said solemnly, "Only one group of Bandit Cultivators would be so brash. Could it be that you are members of the notorious 'Black Dragon' organization?"
"You seem rather well-informed about our organization's name for an old man; have you killed one of our brethren before?" the male Bandit Cultivator's expression darkened and his tone suddenly filled with danger.
As the black-clad Elder saw the admission of their affiliation with the "Black Dragon" organization, his pupils shrunk in shock.
Then he suddenly let out a loud shout, "Behold the Dharma Treasure!"
Before the cry had subsided, he flung several black beads towards the Bandit Cultivator couple.
"Not good, Thunder Orbs!"
A cry of alarm came from the female Bandit Cultivator. She quickly maneuvered to dodge and at the same time summoned various defensive measures to surround herself.
But soon, both she and the male Bandit Cultivator were angered.
Among those black beads, the only real Thunder Bead was aimed at the male Bandit Cultivator; the rest were fakes that looked incredibly realistic!
As the two of them were distracted with their defenses, the black-clad Elder transformed into a Black Escape Light and vanished from the site.
"Chase him, we must not let this old man escape!"
Having come to their senses, the furious Bandit Cultivator couple immediately gave chase to the Black Escape Light.
From a distance, Zhou Chun, through the Insect Puppet Technique, observed this scene and promptly released the Thunder Flood Dragon Baibai from his Spirit Beast Pouch. He instructed it to follow the waterways and track the couple from beneath the surface, while he himself followed from behind.
Indeed, the black-clad Elder was a skilled veteran; after a series of chases, he actually managed to escape the pursuit with the aid of the complex environment of Black Mist Marsh.
Fuming with rage, the Bandit Cultivator couple cursed vehemently at the air for a good while before calming down.
Afterwards, the two, having expended a good deal of mana, didn't linger. Instead, they flew straight toward the deeper reaches of Black Mist Marsh.
Observing this, Zhou Chun pondered for a moment before abandoning the idea of continuing to track them personally. He instructed the Thunder Flood Dragon Baibai to simply follow the couple quietly and find out where they finally disappeared to avoid startling them.
Yet what he hadn't expected was that he would wait nearly an entire day before the Thunder Flood Dragon Baibai returned.
"You're saying you followed them into an underwater cave and stopped there, and you also sensed the presence of other Flood Dragons outside the cave?"
On a small island within Black Mist Marsh, Zhou Chun was astonished by the news Baibai revealed after their exchange.
