Coiling Dragon: Reborn As The Armored Razorback Wyrm

Chapter 12: Chapter 12: Claiming Ownership of the Coiling Dragon Ring, Deceiving Doehring Cowart

Sadius left Wushan Town, bidding farewell to Lena.

He then found a safe location and used his innate burrowing ability to carve out a subterranean chamber.

Claiming ownership of the Coiling Dragon Ring required caution. If Doehring Cowart awakened within the ring and discovered it in the possession of a Saint-level magical beast, there was no telling how he might react.

Deep underground, in the small cavern he had created, Sadius held the Coiling Dragon Ring in his claws.

With a swift motion, he used his talons to slice his own flesh, allowing a single drop of blood to fall onto the ring.

The next moment, the blood was absorbed, and the ring emitted a faint azure glow. A unique spiritual connection was instantly established between Sadius and the Coiling Dragon Ring.

He had successfully claimed ownership.

Without hesitation, Sadius directed his spiritual energy into the ring, probing its internal space.

A translucent, illusory soul slowly emerged from within.

"Where is this? Why am I here?"

Doehring Cowart was regaining awareness.

Then, his gaze landed on the massive, imposing magical beast before him, and he instinctively recoiled in shock.

"A Saint-level magical beast?!"

Sadius feigned ignorance. "Greetings, Saint-level human. I see your soul has taken refuge in this ring. Strange, you weren't drawn into the Netherworld?"

He had to play the fool—he couldn't let anyone know he was a transmigrator.

Doehring Cowart gradually calmed down.

"This… this is my Earth Ring! How did you come to possess it?"

"A fortunate encounter. It seems you were once the owner of this ring. Quite the artifact, I must say. I now call it the Coiling Dragon Ring. To think, a divine artifact capable of preserving a Saint's soul from being drawn into the Netherworld… fascinating."

"It's a long story," Doehring Cowart sighed. "But I should thank you. If not for you, I would have remained trapped in that ring indefinitely."

"Oh? You want to thank me? Maybe by letting me gift you to a Necromancer to be refined into a Soul Pearl?"

Doehring Cowart was speechless.

"Ahem… In my lifetime, I was a Saint-level Earth-style Magus of the Pouant Empire. I possess extensive knowledge of Earth-style magic."

"That's convenient. I have an Earth-elemental Dragoncore, but I lack any real Earth-style spells. If you pass your knowledge on to me, I might just reconsider handing you over to a Necromancer."

Sadius had awakened an Earth-style affinity, but his inherited memories contained no Earth-style magic.

His original form was merely a Rank-Nine Darkness-element dragon, meaning there was no reason for him to have any Earth-style inheritances.

Furthermore, the Misty Valley lacked powerful Earth-elemental magical beasts, so Sadius had never learned true Earth-style spells—only some basic Earth-based attacks.

Although human magic and magical beast magic differed, Doehring Cowart had once been among the greatest Saint-level magi of the Yulan Continent.

Teaching Sadius would be simple.

"You claim to be a Saint-level Magus of the Pouant Empire? That empire has been gone for nearly five thousand years."

"…What year is it in the Yulan calendar now?"

"Yulan Year 9710."

Sadius had only learned this yesterday. It meant that Linley's birth was roughly 280 years away.

"Five thousand years…?" Doehring Cowart murmured. "Time within the Coiling Dragon Ring is difficult to perceive. To think, so many years have passed. Even the Pouant Empire has long since fallen…"

He sighed deeply.

"Oh, come now. What's with the melancholy? The present matters more than the past. I am the new owner of the Coiling Dragon Ring, and from now on, you'll follow me. Trust me—I'll take you to great heights."

Before long, Doehring Cowart accepted reality.

What choice did he have? The ring was now in the hands of a magical beast.

Sadius found himself feeling a little sorry for the old man.

After his death, Doehring Cowart's soul had hidden within the Coiling Dragon Ring, only for his empire to collapse shortly afterward.

Later, he had treated Linley like his own grandson. And in the end, to save Linley, he had perished entirely, his soul obliterated. Truly, an unfortunate fate.

But this time, things were different. Sadius was now the owner of the Coiling Dragon Ring. No matter what, he would help Doehring Cowart reach godhood and fully escape from the ring.

"Doehring, how much do you understand about the Profound Mysteries of the Earth-style Laws?"

"The Profound Mysteries? Wait… you know about them? You've already begun comprehending them?" Doehring Cowart was utterly astonished.

Sadius sighed. Was it really that shocking to know about the Profound Mysteries?

Then it hit him—most newly advanced Saint-level powerhouses only had vague insights into the natural 'forces' of the world.

Without a guide, they wouldn't even know that the Profound Mysteries existed.

Any Saint who had begun comprehending a Profound Mystery was at the peak of Saint-level.

Doehring Cowart had reached such heights in his time, which was why he had once been considered one of the most powerful Saints on the continent.

"Would you like me to introduce you to the different Profound Mysteries of the Earth-style Laws?"

"You… you know them?!"

"Of course. But I only know their names, nothing more."

Even so, Doehring Cowart was stunned. This magical beast was anything but ordinary.

"There are six Profound Mysteries in the Laws of the Earth: the Essence of Earth, Strength, Earth Movement, Vitality, Gravitational Space, and the Pulsations of the World."

Doehring Cowart took a deep breath.

Six Profound Mysteries… which one had he been comprehending all those years ago?

Sadius smirked. He knew far more than this. There would be plenty of surprises for Doehring Cowart down the line.

"As a soul, you should still be able to perceive the Laws, right? If you fully comprehend a single Profound Mystery, you can trigger the descent of a Divine Spark, absorb divine energy, and form a new divine body. In other words, you'd be resurrected."

Doehring Cowart gave a bitter smile. "My current state makes comprehending a Profound Mystery nearly impossible. To do so, I must use magic, but doing so consumes my spiritual energy, hastening my soul's dissipation."

"What about theoretical comprehension? Couldn't you analyze the Laws through pure deduction?"

Doehring Cowart shook his head again.

"That would be far too slow. Without practical application, it would take thousands—no, millions of times longer."

Sadius sighed.

The fastest way for Doehring Cowart to reach godhood was to obtain a Law Fragment from Dunnington, the Highgod Paragon of Death. By refining it, he could become a Deity with minimal effort.

But whether such a thing was even possible… who could say?

For now, the best option was to let Doehring remain within the Coiling Dragon Ring.

With that, Sadius placed the ring on the horn atop his head. Using Earth-style energy, he solidified a stone casing around it.

As a magical beast, wearing a ring properly was inconvenient, so this was the best solution for now.

"So, where are we headed next? Are you returning to the Mountain Range of Magical Beasts?"
