Chapter 10: CHAPTER 10:THE TRAGEDY
Battle with the Hydra:
Aoi initiates an assault on the Hydra using his thunderclap ability, but it proves ineffective. Undeterred, he engages in close combat, delivering punches and kicks that cause the Hydra to roar in pain. Utilizing his sonic strike, Aoi damages the Hydra's ears, but the creature retaliates, launching Aoi away.
Hiroshi intervenes, summoning earth spikes that inflict significant harm on the Hydra. Emi supports with her barrage gun, intensifying the assault. Hikaru joins the fray, unleashing an ether blast and, wielding Nova, severs one of the Hydra's heads and part of its body. However, the Hydra rapidly regenerates, rendering their efforts futile.
Daiki's Ordeal in Antarctica:
Meanwhile, in Antarctica, Daiki faces imminent danger as he is on the verge of being implanted with a control chip. Overwhelmed by feelings of helplessness, he reflects on his past—enduring bullying, familial scorn, and a pervasive sense of inadequacy. The prospect of becoming a lifelong servant deepens his despair.
Prolonged Struggle in Russia:
Back in Russia, the battle against the Hydra extends over three grueling hours. Despite their relentless attacks, the creature's regenerative abilities thwart the team's efforts. Exhaustion takes its toll, and members like Emi, Kiyoshi, Akito, Takeshi, Aoi, Toma, Tatsuya, Kaito, Ryo, and Asahi succumb to fatigue, leaving them dehydrated and despondent.
Strategizing for Victory:
With only Hikaru, Akari, Kuroshin, and Hiroshi still standing, Hikaru emphasizes the necessity of teamwork and precise execution. They devise a plan to simultaneously decapitate all four of the Hydra's heads. As the Hydra targets Ryo, Kuroshin employs a dark punch to divert its attention. Seizing the moment, Hikaru signals the coordinated attack: Kuroshin with his spear, Akari with her magnetic sword, Hikaru with Nova, and Hiroshi with earth spikes. Their synchronized strike successfully beheads the Hydra, finally bringing it down.
A Sudden Tragedy:
Just as a semblance of peace returns, a sudden thunderbolt descends from the sky, striking Akari and tragically ending her life. The team's hard-fought victory is overshadowed by this unexpected loss, plunging them into a new wave of grief and uncertainty.
