Chapter 36: [Dimensional Magic: Eyes of the Void]
"Damn! I lost again!" Asahi shouted in frustration after hours of intense sparring with Amaterasu had come to an end.
the results were clear:
Final Score: 3-5
Amaterasu had claimed victory, as expected.
Yet, surprisingly, Asahi felt no disappointment.
Quite the opposite—he was exhilarated. The match had pushed him to explore new depths of his power, sparking ideas for refining his abilities and leveraging his [Authority] even further.
The loss only fueled his determination to improve.
As the match concluded, Amaterasu smiled, her divine radiance softening. "You've improved since the last time we fought, Master."
"I'll take that as a compliment. But don't think I'm satisfied with losing."" Asahi replied with a smirk like a thought of new ideas how improve those [Authority].
"Good. I'm always looking forward to it." Amaterasu nodded and chuckled, her laugh like the soft chime of bells.
Asahi glanced at his watch as they stepped out of the digital dimension. Surprisingly, only thirty minutes had passed in the real world.
Tet and Amaterasu transform into their chibi mode and reappear on his shoulder.
Tet, watching from the sidelines, gave a low whistle. "Not bad, Asahi. Your efficiency over your new power is getting better during your fight."
Asahi glanced at Tet, raising an eyebrow with curiosity, and asked. "Oh? How much did improve?"
Tet grinned and held up his fingers, showing the smallest possible gap. "This much."
Asahi's left eye twitched, but he sighed and let it slide.
There was no excuse for the loser in battle.
"Yeah, yeah, keep talking. I'll win next time."
Tet flipped upside down in midair, laughing. "Sure, sure, but watching you get smacked around by Amaterasu was the real entertainment. Especially your reactions! Hehehehe."
A popping vein above and thought, 'I take that back."
"Okay, that's—Mhm?"
Just as he was about to retort—
Walking back into the house, Asahi, who wanted to pick a fight with Tet, when something made him stop
His instincts flared up. Observation Haki—activated.
A sudden familiar prickle at the back of his neck told him someone was watching.
"Master," Amaterasu's voice chimed softly, her tone alert. "I sense an unknown presence. Someone is 'watching' us."
'Oh, we have a little rat watching us...' Tet nodded; her eyes looked up sharp.
'Don't tell me it's that one?'
Asahi's mind raced getting excited.
Tet hummed, considering. 'Mhmm… Nope. This one's different, but it feels familiar.'.
'Shall I handle this, Master?' the Chibi Amaterasu's form shimmered like a little firefly as she was prepared to go where the little stalker was.
"No, I've got this one," Asahi replied, grinning evilly.
It had been a while since someone had the nerve to spy on him so brazenly.
After his fight with Tet, he refined his abilities precisely for situations like this, especially his dimension magic.
"Let's see who's spying on us."
Focusing his senses, Asahi used [Observation Haki] to pinpoint the presence of magic, additional channeling it through [Dimension Magic] to trace the observer's location.
[Dimensional Magic: Eyes of the Void]!
His red eyes shifted to a striking purple in his iris as he could see through dimensional distortions invisible to regular sight, allowing him to know where the source was coming from.
?!!
The observer instantly noticed something wrong with Asahi looking in the sky and quickly vanished, slipping out of detection like a shadow fading into the ether.
—---------------------
In the High-Class Hotel of Sardinia.
"Hoh... That was a close one." A young woman exhaled in relief, feeling a faint chill run through her body.
That fleeting moment—when Asahi's gaze turned toward her—had nearly unraveled her concealment spell.
She tilted her head, intrigued. "Impressive, young king. You almost got me." A small, appreciative smile graced her lips.
Then suddenly—
"Got you."
A hand grabbed her wrist.
A smooth yet teasing voice sent a shiver up her spine.
Before she could react, a [Gate] began to expand as her size opened, and Asahi's arm reached through, yanking the mysterious figure into his grasp.
"Kyaaaa!! Ow, it hurts." A startled cry echoed as a young woman tumbled through the portal, her silvery-blonde hair catching the light as she landed on soft grass.
Her [Spirit Eyes] activated at that moment, instantly recognizing the person before her.
'You're…!' the woman thought was startled who the one who pulled her up.
Before she could recover, Tet and Amaterasu were at her side on their original form.
"...Mhmm, a Miko?" Amaterasu's golden eyes narrowed. "Speak your purpose before death comes shall upon you." Her blade rested lightly against the woman's neck
Tet trying to stop Amaterasu, holding held her shoulder "Whoa, whoa, hold on there, Ama-chan~" she grinned playfully. "You always go straight for the kill. Where's the fun in that? No need to get all slice-and-dice on her so soon. Let's not make a mess just yet."
Amaterasu narrowed her eyes. "She was spying on us. A lesson must be taught to show others who are stalking to master."
Tet let out a mock sigh, shaking her head. "Tsk, tsk~ So impatient… That's not the way to do that..."
Princess Alice was almost a kinda relief in this situation.
"You gotta savor the moment!"
Then—
*VRRRRRR!*
Before the woman could react, Tet pulled out a terrifyingly revved-up chainsaw, her grin widening into something truly unhinged.
"How about we take turns~?" she teased, twirling the chainsaw playfully. "A little snip here, a little slice there~ I'm sure she'll start talking real soon!"
Hiekk!!
Alice paled instantly, sweat pouring down her face.
Her breath hitched. Every muscle in her body tensed, her fingers trembling as she clutched her dress. Fear rooted her in place.
"W-Wait… Please, let me—" The woman's voice quivered, her emerald eyes widening in sheer horror.
'S-someone…help..me.'
Clap!
A sudden, decisive magic sound broke the tension.
"Alright, that's enough, guys." Asahi sighed, shaking his head. "You're scaring her, Put all your weapons, Amaterasu, and hide that chainsaw, Tet.."
"Hmph. As you wish." Amaterasu pulled back her katana and put it back on her scabbard.
"Aww, that's too bad," Tet replied sadly pouting. She hadn't had much fun and hid her chainsaw.
Asahi turned to the woman, who looked utterly disheveled. "Sorry about them. Are you alright? Here, let me fix you."
He placed a finger against her forehead and chanted.
"O Sacred flame of heaven, heal her."
Using his [Authority of the Sun] and [The Will of Life], Asahi restored her physical and mental state, adding [Cleaning Magic] to rid her of sweat and exhaustion.
'Status'
At the same time, he activated [Status] to check her profile.
When the [Status] appeared, his mouth twitched.
Meanwhile, the woman, who had felt on the verge of collapsing, suddenly felt an overwhelming warmth course through her body.
Her thoughts quickly cleared in an instant, her body... It had been a long time since she felt so… energized.
"And done."
Asahi withdrew his hand, watching as the woman—now refreshed—blinked in confusion.
"W-what just happened?" The woman felt her head clear as new, looking at her had felt overflowing energy in her body after what happened, and looked at the side to see the two goddesses quickly frightened.
"You must be Princess Alice, right?"
Image:
Princess Alice heard her name and was surprised. "You know me?"
Asahi's smirk deepened as the realization clicked in his mind.
In the anime, she was a figure shrouded in mystery.
She prophesied that darkness would swallow the world after Athena reclaimed her Grimoire, the Gorgoneion.
She was also known as the Witch Princess of the Highest Rank in the Heavens, the counterpart title to Lucretia-nee, the Highest Rank Witch on Earth.
He had heard of her before while gathering information in this world.
More importantly, she had been present during his battle, alongside Lucretia-nee, observing everything like a ghost.
"I've heard about you…." Asahi muttered, but instead of admiration, he felt frustration deep inside.
Great. Another pain in the ass knowing me.
However, he didn't show that to Alice and kept his poker face, continued, "Lucretia-nee told me stories of you guys rescuing me during the battle. You and Onii-san?
"Lucretia-nee? Onii-san?" Alice blinked, her composed demeanor cracking for the first time.
She repeated, her emerald eyes widening in confusion, "Wait! Alexander is your brother?"
Asahi chuckled at her reaction, clearly enjoying the moment. "Figuratively speaking, of course," he said with a shrug, his tone dripping with amusement. "We're Campione, aren't we? That makes us one big dysfunctional family, doesn't it?"
Alice exhaled, placing a hand on her chest to steady herself. "You startled me for a moment there. I thought Miss Lucretia had been spinning her stories a little too creatively."
"Oh, she's plenty creative," Asahi mused, shaking his head, "but she's not the one who said that."
Then, his smirk faded. His gaze turned cold.
"Now, let's get back to the real topic, Princess," he said, his voice sharper. "I'm sure you have an excuse for your actions. Why were you stalking us, pretty onee-san?"
Amaterasu and Tet stood on either side of Alice, their eyes keenly watching her, analyzing her every move for lies.
Alice hesitated for only a moment before regaining her composure. "...Stalking is a rather harsh word."
""Oh? Then what were you doing?" Asahi asked.
"...Observing," she corrected.
"Sounds like stalking to me." His smirk returned. "Especially when you're spying on a nine-year-old. Bit questionable, don't you think?"
Tet and Amaterasu exchanged knowing glances.
He's enjoying this way too much…
Alice's cheeks flushed faintly. "It was a matter of strategic importance. You were a newly awakened Campione—an unpredictable variable. I needed to assess the situation."
Asahi sighed in mock exasperation, rubbing his temple. "Yeah, yeah. Strategic importance. Watching over a kid in a death match and not stepping in totally sounds normal."
"..."
Alice hesitated, her gaze flickering downward momentarily, and trembled as she was about to cry for a second..
Tet and Amaterasu swiftly glanced at Asahi, thinking...
'You're making her cry.'
"...I apologize. The situation was delicate. If I had intervened, it would have been useless—I couldn't do anything and might have only caused you greater harm."
She squeezed her hands into fists, frustration evident in her voice.
In truth, she had wanted to help him from the start.
She had even planned to bring the Black Prince along.
She believe it was the best thing to do as two great disasters appeared.
It will lessen the burden to the kid and the fight will be fair as.
2v2 will do.
However, due to the unexpected appearance of Guevere and the white knight, the Black Prince could not fight, and his [Authority] was rendered useless.
The only thing she could do was believe in the red-haired kid and support him from afar with hope defeating his enemies.
"Besides…" She paused, then looked at him straight in the face with a hint of something unspoken. "You didn't need my help. You overcame and defeated your foe on your own. It was… impressive–Huh?"
For a brief moment, Asahi was silent. Then—
*Flick*
"Itaiii! What was that for?!" Alice was almost knocked down in pain and yelped, rubbing her forehead.
"That was for watching me." Asahi huffed, crossing his arms.
His teasing demeanor softened.
He hadn't expected that kind of acknowledgment, especially from someone as composed and enigmatic as Princess Alice.
If he continues more, Asahi might be carried away to her straight with no lie fluttery.
Then, his expression warmed slightly as he looked at her.
He smiled and added, "...Thanks for saving me, Onee-chan."
Alice was momentarily caught off guard by his bright, almost shota-like smile. Before she could respond—
Tet suddenly pinched Asahi's cheek.
'Ow! What was that for?!' Asahi thought, rubbing his face.
Tet pouted and looked away. "Nothing."
Amaterasu sighed. "Master, you are hopeless."
Ignoring them, Asahi noticed Alice still seemed dazed.
"Princess… Have you had breakfast yet?" he asked abruptly.
"...W-what?" Princess Alice blinked, snapping back to her senses.
