Chapter 2: Chapter 2: The Lost World of Lehon
The ancient planet of Lehon loomed before Darth Nox like a relic of a forgotten era. As his shuttle settled on the desolate surface, the Dark Lord felt the weight of the planet's history pressing down on him. The air was thick with the remnants of the Rakata, the ancient species that had once enslaved the galaxy. Nox could feel their presence, their dark legacy etched into the very fabric of the world.
He stepped off the shuttle, his boots sinking slightly into the cracked and weathered ground. The landscape was barren, with jagged rocks and crumbling ruins stretching out as far as the eye could see. The sky above was a dull, lifeless gray, the sun hidden behind a thick layer of clouds. It was a world that had been abandoned by time, left to decay in the wake of the Rakata's downfall.
But there was something else here, something that had drawn Nox across the galaxy. He could feel it pulsing beneath the surface, a deep, resonant power that seemed to call out to him. It was a presence that was both familiar and alien, a force that he could not ignore.
As he walked through the ruins, Nox allowed his mind to drift back to the stories he had heard of the Rakata. They had been a cruel and ruthless species, using their mastery of the dark side to dominate the galaxy. They had created the Star Forge, a massive space station that could produce endless fleets of warships, and the Mother Machine, a device capable of shaping life itself. But their reign had come to an end long ago, their empire collapsing under the weight of their own hubris.
Nox had always been fascinated by the Rakata, by the power they had wielded and the secrets they had taken to their graves. And now, here he was, standing on the very ground where they had once ruled. It was a place of power, a place where the dark side thrived.
As he moved deeper into the ruins, Nox's thoughts were interrupted by a sudden surge of energy. It was like a shockwave, rippling through the Force and sending a shiver down his spine. He stopped in his tracks, his senses on high alert. There was something here, something that had been awakened by his presence.
He reached out with the Force, probing the area around him. The energy was coming from beneath the ground, from deep within the planet's core. It was powerful, ancient, and filled with a malevolent intent. Nox could feel it seeping into his mind, whispering to him in a language he could not understand.
Without hesitation, Nox began to search for an entrance, a way to access whatever lay hidden beneath the surface. The ruins around him were crumbling, their once-great structures reduced to little more than piles of rubble. But there was a pattern to the destruction, a path that led him deeper into the heart of the ancient city.
After what felt like hours of searching, Nox finally found what he was looking for. It was a massive stone door, half-buried in the ground and covered in strange, alien symbols. The door was sealed shut, but Nox could feel the power emanating from behind it. Whatever lay beyond was the source of the pull he had felt.
He placed his hand on the door, feeling the cold, rough surface beneath his fingers. The symbols seemed to glow faintly as he touched them, reacting to his presence. Nox closed his eyes and focused, drawing on the dark side to unlock the door.
There was a low rumble as the door began to shift, the ancient mechanisms grinding against each other as they came to life. Slowly, the door slid open, revealing a dark, yawning abyss beyond. Nox could feel the energy intensify as the door opened, the power of the dark side flowing out like a flood.
Without a moment's hesitation, Nox stepped into the darkness.
The passageway beyond was narrow and winding, the walls lined with more of the strange symbols. The air was thick with the scent of decay, and the only light came from the faint glow of the symbols. But Nox was undeterred. He had faced worse than this in his quest for power.
As he moved deeper into the passage, the energy grew stronger, almost overwhelming in its intensity. It was as if the very air was charged with electricity, crackling with dark energy. Nox could feel it seeping into his skin, feeding his power, fueling his strength.
Finally, the passage opened up into a vast chamber. The walls were lined with ancient machines, their purpose long forgotten, and in the center of the room stood a massive structure that seemed to pulse with energy. It was the source of the power Nox had felt, the heart of the ancient Rakatan city.
Nox approached the structure cautiously, his senses on high alert. The energy was almost tangible now, pressing down on him like a physical weight. He could feel the dark side swirling around him, drawn to the power of the structure.
As he reached out to touch the structure, a voice echoed through the chamber, a voice that seemed to come from everywhere and nowhere at once. It was deep and resonant, filled with power and authority.
"Darth Nox," the voice said, "you have come."
Nox's eyes narrowed as he looked around the chamber, trying to locate the source of the voice. But there was nothing, no one else in the room but him.
"Who are you?" Nox demanded, his voice echoing off the walls.
The voice did not answer immediately, and for a moment, the chamber was silent. Then, slowly, a figure began to materialize in front of Nox, a ghostly apparition that seemed to be made of pure energy.
It was the form of a man, tall and imposing, dressed in the robes of what Nox would describe an early Sith Lord. His face was hidden beneath a hood, and his eyes glowed with an eerie, otherworldly light.
"I am what remains of the Rakata," the figure said, its voice echoing through the chamber. "I am the last of my kind, the guardian of this place."
Nox's eyes narrowed as he studied the figure. He could feel the power radiating off of it, the same power that had drawn him to this planet. But there was something else, something deeper and more sinister.
"You are no Rakata," Nox said, his voice cold and calculating. "You are a spirit, a ghost of the past."
The figure nodded slowly. "Indeed. I am the last remnant of a once-great civilization, a being of pure energy, sustained by the Force."
Nox felt a surge of excitement at the figure's words. This was what he had been searching for, before his quest to destroy Vitiate years ago, the key to unlocking the secrets of the Rakata and their power.
"What do you want from me?" Nox asked, his voice filled with anticipation.
The figure stepped closer, its form shimmering in the dim light of the chamber. "The Force has brought you here for a reason, Darth Nox. You seek power, knowledge, and the dark side offers both. But to gain that power, you must prove yourself worthy."
Nox's eyes gleamed with ambition as he listened to the figure's words. This was what he had been waiting for, the chance to unlock the true potential of the dark side.
"What must I do?" he asked, his voice filled with determination.
The figure smiled, a cold and calculating smile that sent a shiver down Nox's spine.
"You must delve into the depths of the Force," the figure said. "You must embrace both the light and the dark, understand them both equally, and become the ultimate master of the Force. Only then will you unlock the true power of the Rakata and the secrets of this place."
Nox nodded, his mind racing with possibilities. This was what he had been searching for, the ultimate test of his power and knowledge. He would prove himself worthy, no matter the cost.
As the figure began to fade away, its voice echoed one last time through the chamber.
"Good luck, Darth Nox. The Force is with you."
And then, the figure was gone, leaving Nox alone in the chamber, the weight of its words heavy on his shoulders. The path ahead was clear, but it would not be an easy one. He would have to face his own darkness, confront the ghosts of his past, and embrace the full spectrum of the Force.
But Nox was ready. He had always been ready.
With renewed determination, he turned back to the structure at the center of the chamber. He could feel the power coursing through it, waiting for him to claim it. This was the beginning of a new chapter in his quest for power, a journey that would take him to the very limits of the Force.
And he would not fail.
