Days in the Infinite

Chapter 25: Chapter 25: Lady Kiri’s Perspective

Watching the house fall to the ground once more—collapsing into rubble and taking the zombies inside with it—Li Ke finally couldn't hold back his excitement.

"Does this count as some sort of infinite resource?"

Excited by the thought, Li Ke quickly climbed down into the pit, eager to see if anything useful could be salvaged from the wreckage.

To his disappointment, despite the wooden house being no obstacle to him, its contents were far from special.

All he managed to scavenge were some food supplies, leather, a few mechanical parts, and electronic components—nothing else of value.

"Still, this gives me an idea," Li Ke mused, rubbing his chin thoughtfully.

If he could find a house with more valuable rewards and systematically clear it out, he could theoretically dismantle it and infinitely respawn it to farm the rewards. Then all they'd need to do was collect the loot.

Eager to test his theory, he built another structure to reach the question mark, triggering the house's spawn repeatedly. He carefully calculated the distance at which the house would count as a mission failure.

"So, anything over ten meters counts as a failure?"

After observing a house that landed intact on top of the rubble without breaking, Li Ke nodded in understanding. He pressed the interaction key again, summoning another house that promptly dropped onto a zombie's exposed head.

He repeated this process seven or eight times. But on the final attempt, something unexpected happened.

As the last house spawned, its foundation collided with the debris of the previous structures. The next moment, an unbelievable event occurred.

A solitary pillar of earth and stone materialized beneath the house, lifting it. At the same time, all the rubble and zombies disappeared without a trace.

Meanwhile, Lady Kiri and Tsunade were having a conversation off to the side.

"You're telling me his chakra extraction would cause massive cell death?" Lady Kiri asked, raising an eyebrow.

Tsunade nodded solemnly. "Yes. Whenever he tries to draw chakra, his cells undergo extreme degradation. On top of that, the flow efficiency is abysmal. If normal chakra resistance in a typical ninja's body is a one, his resistance is an undeniable ten. That day, if it hadn't been me treating him, no ordinary medic-nin could have fully healed him."

"So if he extracts chakra, forget getting stronger—he'd probably lose the ability to walk."

"What a pity…" Lady Kiri sighed, looking disappointed. "I heard that Arad's mages have ways to improve their skin without using cosmetics. But ever since coming here…"

Her voice trailed off as she glanced at Tsunade's mature and curvaceous figure, unable to resist asking bluntly, "So, have you ever done it? You know, that?"

She made an OK gesture and pushed her finger suggestively forward.

Tsunade's expression immediately darkened.

"You didn't seriously believe that guy's nonsense, did you?"

Tsunade glanced toward the direction of the shop where Li Ke was supposedly preparing supplies, crafting bullets, and studying materials.

Both women, however, knew the truth. The overly energetic Li Ke was probably indulging in certain activities with his calloused hands.

Frankly, the thought made them cringe a little.

Still, they understood his situation to some extent. With their current skimpy outfits and no plans to change them, it was only natural for any normal man to react. The fact that Li Ke had refrained from harassing them and handled things on his own was, in its own way, commendable.

Even so, that didn't stop them from wanting to complain about it.

"That's not it," Lady Kiri replied, casually taking out a bottle of beer from her inventory. "If we really can't leave this place, chances are I'll end up sleeping with him eventually. And if what he says is true, I might even find a way back to my world."

Lady Kiri took a swig of her beer, then glanced at Tsunade meaningfully. "I figured I'd check if you'd care. If you have feelings for him or a past lover, I'll leave it alone. Otherwise, I'll just go ahead and get it over with."

After all, it didn't hurt to confirm things first.

"Of course, I'll take proper precautions. I don't want my child being born into this barren, desperate world, forced to live like him, with no outlet for his desires. That's why I want to know if what he said about that is true. If it is, and I can confirm it, I won't hold back anymore."

Her tone was serious, and Tsunade could tell she wasn't joking.

"…I had a lover once," Tsunade said after a long pause. "But before we ever got to that point, he died."

Her voice softened as she thought of Dan. The memory brought a pang of pain to her chest.

Whenever she thought of him, sadness inevitably followed. Dan had been her sole emotional support during those dark times.

Even so, she hadn't been able to escape her fate as a lonely wanderer.

"I see…" Lady Kiri looked disappointed.
