Chapter 1: Arc1: The Mysterious Beginning

Chapter 1: The Mysterious Incident

The sun was slowly sinking toward the horizon, leaving behind an orange sky scattered with light clouds, while Zack walked along his usual route home from school. His backpack swung carelessly on his shoulder, hands buried in his pockets, and his earbuds blasted a loud song that matched the rhythm of his steps. His head bobbed to the beat, and his eyes drifted into the distant horizon.

He felt bored—boredom that was consuming him slowly. His entire life was dull. The same road, the same school, the same faces. Even the jokes he used to crack with his friends had lost their charm.

Letting out a deep sigh, he muttered to himself with a sarcastic tone, "Maybe I need a change… an adventure… something to break this monotonous routine." The words slipped out without much thought, yet they carried his deepest desires. He longed for something extraordinary, something to make his heart race with excitement.

As he reached the narrow alley he often used as a shortcut, he suddenly stopped. A cold gust of wind brushed past him, even though the weather was warm. A strange chill crawled up his spine. He looked around cautiously, but the street was completely empty. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Then it happened.

A sudden flash of blue light tore through the air in front of him. It was so blinding that Zack had to shield his eyes with his hand. When he lowered it, he saw something inexplicable.

A vortex of energy was forming in the air, spinning at an insane speed, surrounded by crackling blue sparks that danced like serpents. The air around it pulsed with an eerie force, and whispers—indistinct and otherworldly—filled the atmosphere.

Zack stepped back, but his feet felt glued to the ground. An invisible force was pulling him toward the vortex. He tried to resist, gripping the alley wall with all his strength, but his fingers slipped as if the air itself had turned slippery.

"What… What is this?!" he shouted as the vortex began to swallow him. His voice faded into the void created by the immense energy.

Then he fell… or maybe he flew… or perhaps he disintegrated. He wasn't sure what exactly happened, but it felt as if he had been torn into tiny fragments and then reassembled again.

Contradictory sensations overwhelmed his body—burning cold and freezing heat at the same time. He was trapped between existence and nonexistence.

Total darkness.

No sound. No light. Not even a sense of his own body. It was as if he was suspended in an endless void, hovering between consciousness and oblivion. He tried to scream, but no sound came out. He tried to move, but there was no body to move.

Then, slowly, distant sounds began to echo in the void—screams, explosions, and collapsing structures. The noises reverberated inside his head like a distant echo.

"What's happening? Where am I?" Zack thought, but there was no one to answer.

Gradually, he began to regain awareness. He opened his eyes, though his vision was blurred at first. Everything looked distorted as if the world around him had flipped upside down.

He raised his hand in front of his face and saw his fingers trembling. He was still in one piece… apparently.

But the place he was in… was not the alley, nor even his city.

He lay in the middle of a shattered street, surrounded by collapsed buildings and shattered glass. Thick black smoke rose into the sky, mixing with the glow of raging fires in every corner. The air was dense with the scent of destruction and ash.

Struggling to stand up, he felt a wave of dizziness, as if his head was spinning in an endless vortex. He clutched his forehead, trying to process what was happening.

He was in the center of a ruined city. Crushed cars, demolished buildings, and debris covered the ground like an abandoned battlefield.

"What… What is this place?!"

Before he could think further, a sharp scream pierced the air.

He quickly turned toward the source of the sound and saw a woman clutching her child, running as debris fell around her. He had only seconds to react.

Instinctively, he dashed toward her—faster than he ever thought possible, as if his legs were moving on their own. He grabbed the woman and pulled her aside just before heavy rubble crashed into the spot she had been standing in.

"Are you okay?" he asked, panting.

The woman looked at him in shock before saying, "Thank you… Thank you! But we need to run! It's coming!"

"Who?" Zack asked in confusion, but he didn't need an answer.

The ground trembled violently, as if an earthquake had struck.

Turning around, he saw something he never thought he would witness in real life.

A massive, grotesque creature with cracked gray skin and glowing red eyes was destroying everything in its path.

"This… This is… Doomsday?!"

Zack didn't need to see more. Grabbing the woman and her child, he sprinted away as fast as possible.

He knew this monster. It was one of Superman's most powerful enemies in the DC universe.

But this wasn't a movie or a game. This was real.

Before he could process everything, a floating transparent window suddenly appeared in front of him, as if it were a holographic screen.

It glowed with a bright blue light, displaying text:

"System Installed. Welcome to the World of Advancement."

Zack stared at the screen with wide eyes. He reached out to touch it, but it wasn't physical.

"Starter Reward: Devil Sword Dante + Ebony & Ivory."

In an instant, a surge of electricity coursed through his body. A long black sword materialized before him, pulsating with energy, its edges impossibly sharp, and its engravings glowing with a blood-red hue.

In his hands, two silver handguns with elegant designs appeared, their grips engraved with intricate patterns.

He recognized these weapons.

"This is impossible… These are Dante's weapons from Devil May Cry!"

Looking around in confusion, he then glanced at the sky. There was no logical explanation for any of this. But he could feel immense power surging through his veins—power he had never felt before.

At that moment, he realized that his ordinary life was over forever.

A smirk crossed his lips as he muttered, "Looks like my wish for an adventure… just came true in the craziest way possible."
