Demon Slayer: I Level Up Alone

Chapter 11: Chapter 11 Tanjiro's Awakening

Chapter 11

Meanwhile,

Tanjiro bought a basket from nearby villagers and carried Nezuko to a shrine.

"Nezuko, there's a shrine here, and there's light; there should be someone inside. Let's go take a look."

Tanjiro gently said, holding Nezuko's hand.

But in an instant, Tanjiro caught a strong smell of blood.

"Ah... that's the smell of blood..."

"The mountain path is rugged; maybe someone is injured."

Tanjiro quickly pulled Nezuko and ran toward the shrine.

"Is anyone there?!"

Tanjiro shouted as he opened the door to the shrine.

The moment he opened the door, Tanjiro froze, his eyes wide open.

There was no one injured; what greeted him was a scene of carnage.

The shrine was filled with blood; an entire family had been slaughtered.

The basket in his hand fell, startling the demon that was feeding.

"What's going on?"

The demon slowly spoke

The evil spirit, seeing this, licked its blood-soaked hands and said, "Something feels off..."

"Are you humans?"

The evil demon stood up.

Tanjiro took a step back, feeling extremely alert.

"Bang!"

Tanjiro was sent flying, but fortunately, he managed to block the evil spirit's attack with the axe in his hand.

At the same time, he counterattacked, swinging the axe at the evil demon.

However, the effect was minimal, as the evil demon's wound healed almost instantly.

The evil demon touched its wound and laughed, "An axe, huh? You've got some skill..."

"But such a minor injury will heal quickly."

Then the wound disappeared.

"See? The blood has stopped, and the wound is gone."

Tanjiro looked in horror at the evil demon's terrifying healing ability.

Meanwhile, Nezuko was staring intently at the human corpses inside the shrine, struggling to suppress her bloodthirsty desire that was about to overwhelm her.

She bit down hard on the bamboo in her mouth, clenched her fists, and beads of sweat began to form on her face.

Just as Tanjiro was about to get up, the evil demon quickly pinned him to the ground, tightly gripping his neck.

"So fast, and so strong..."

Tanjiro managed to say with difficulty.

The evil demon glared at Tanjiro and said fiercely, "I won't let you hurt me again. I'm going to snap your neck."

In an instant, Tanjiro found himself in danger.

The situation grew increasingly dire, and Tanjiro let out a scream, waking Nezuko at the shrine's entrance.

Nezuko's rationality returned in an instant.

"Bang!"

Nezuko kicked the evil demon's head off, sending it flying into a nearby tree.

Seeing this, Tanjiro gasped in astonishment.

Looking at the headless body of the evil spirit, Tanjiro felt a strong sense of fear.

He hurriedly pushed the evil demon's body away.

In disbelief, he looked at his sister Nezuko and said, "You... you killed it..."

"No, it's a demon. Nezuko..."

Before he could finish, the headless body of the evil spirit tried to ambush Tanjiro, but Nezuko kicked it away again.

"What... it just moved... even though its head is gone..."

Tanjiro thought.

"You two..."

The evil demon's head spoke.

"So one of you is a demon, no wonder it feels so strange. Why would a demon and a human be together..."

"It's actually talking!" Tanjiro shouted.

At that moment, the kicked body of the evil demon lunged at Nezuko. Seeing this, Tanjiro picked up the nearby axe and shouted, "Stop!"

He rushed over.

But the evil demon's head had now grown a pair of tiny hands, quickly attacking Tanjiro.

Tanjiro reacted immediately, swinging the axe at the evil spirit's head.

The evil spirit opened its mouth wide, its fangs biting down on the axe.

Meanwhile, Nezuko was overwhelmed by the evil demon's body, falling to the ground as it kept kicking her.

Nezuko cried out in pain.

Then the evil demon's body grabbed her and tossed her into the dark forest.

Tanjiro wanted to help his sister, but at that moment, the evil demon's head had somehow managed to control his hair, tightly binding his hands.

"What is this guy? How did it grow hands?"

Tanjiro was confused, but all he wanted was to help Nezuko.

"Let go! I need to save Nezuko!"

He then exerted force and shouted, "Get away from me!"

Thus, he delivered a classic headbutt to the evil demon's head.

The evil demon, feeling pain, was pushed back by the powerful force.

"This guy's head is so hard..."

"His head is so hard..."

Then Tanjiro grabbed the demon's head and slammed it with his own head once again.

The demon showed a moment of panic.

Tanjiro quickly picked up the axe and swung it at a large tree.

With a "bang," the axe and the demon were both pinned to the trunk.

Seeing that the demon's head could no longer move, Tanjiro quickly ran towards Nezuko.

"Why can't i untie it... Damn it!"

The demon shouted unwillingly.

Meanwhile, in the forest, Nezuko had been tossed around by the demon's body since it threw her into the woods, completely powerless to fight back.

Tanjiro anxiously called out Nezuko's name.

"Nezuko, where are you!"

Using his keen sense of smell, Tanjiro quickly found Nezuko, who was being beaten by the demon's body.

"Nezuko!"

Tanjiro shouted.

He rushed towards the demon's body, but unexpectedly, the powerful impact sent him crashing towards the cliff ahead.

Just as Tanjiro was about to fall off the cliff along with the demon's body, a pair of hands firmly grabbed him from behind.

It was Akito.

With a slight pull, Akito hoisted Tanjiro up.

Meanwhile, Nezuko watched Akito with a wary expression.

Because just a moment ago, she hadn't been as fast as Akito.

The demon's body fell to the bottom of the cliff.

At that moment, the demon's head also sensed something and let out a scream.

Then it fainted.

"Are you okay?" Akito asked with a smile.

"You... who are you?" Tanjiro asked.

"I am a disciple of Giyu Tomioka. I came to get you; it seems I arrived late to the party," Akito explained.

Hearing this, Tanjiro breathed a sigh of relief.

He hurried to pick up his sister and held her in his arms, gently wiping her wounds.

"Are you okay, Nezuko..."

Akito watched the brother and sister, sighing, "Indeed, sibling affection is deep..."

As if remembering something, Akito took out two pills from the system space.

"Each of you take one; it will help with your injuries."

Although Akito knew that such injuries were nothing for a demon like Nezuko and would heal quickly, he still gave them one each to avoid raising Tanjiro's suspicions.

"What is this..." Tanjiro asked, looking at the light blue pill in his hand, puzzled.

These two pills emitted a faint medicinal fragrance, clearly valuable.

Tanjiro felt a bit embarrassed. But Akito urged him to take the pill quickly.

Soon, Tanjiro swallowed the pill, and his injuries began to heal.

Then he gave a pill to Nezuko.

As soon as the pill entered her mouth, Nezuko's eyes widened, as if she had received immense satisfaction.

She looked at Akito with eager eyes, as if saying, "I want another one."

Akito, seeing the adorable Nezuko, took out another healing pill.

After all, he had dozens of them in his system space from sign-in rewards, so one more wouldn't matter.

After tidying up a bit, Akito and the others arrived at the demon's head.

Akito spoke, "You go kill him..."

Akito didn't initially want to do this, but thinking of something from his past life, he recalled how Shinazugawa Sanemi had tested Tanjiro...

Tanjiro picked up thesmall axe, trembling as he looked at the demon's head.

"Do I have to kill him... Just do it..."

Tanjiro gasped heavily.

Seeing this, Akito sighed.

Although people from his past life praised Tanjiro as an exceptionally gentle person, even towards demons, this gentleness often turned into a fatal weakness for himself.

Seeing that Tanjiro was hesitating to act, Akito said, "You won't be able to kill him like this..."

"Then... how do I kill him?" Tanjiro asked.

"Don't ask me; think of a way yourself," Akito said, sitting aside to watch Tanjiro's performance.

Tanjiro thought for a moment, picked up a large stone nearby, and pondered, "If the knife can't kill him, then I should smash his head, but that would make him suffer... Is there nothing that can kill him with one blow..."

Time passed slowly, but Tanjiro still couldn't bring himself to act.

At this moment, the unconscious evil demon woke up.

It continuously waved its hands at Tanjiro, trying to attack him.

However, as the sunlight of dawn slowly rose, the evil demon began to painfully turn to ashes.

"Ding, congratulations on obtaining 50,000 sword swings."

"Hmm? It's less than before..."

...

Tanjiro's mouth dropped open upon seeing this scene, and he immediately thought of something, rushing to find his sister.

But Nezuko had already been taken into the house by Akito to avoid the sunlight.

The sun of dawn shone on his face, the eerie darkness faded away, and the evil forces hidden in the shadows also vanished without a trace.

Akito seemed to feel a slight stir in his heart, but it quickly disappeared.

"Come with me, bring your sister." Akito said to Tanjiro.

"Demons are afraid of sunlight; once sunlight touches them, they will turn to ashes like just now..."

Tanjiro nodded.

He went back to put Nezuko in the basket, covering it with cloth to prevent sunlight from reaching her.

Thus, Akito led Tanjiro back to the Mount Sagiri.
