Demonic Dragon: Harem System

Chapter 319: Twelve Liters of Blood

[Two days later]

"You look tired," came a seductive voice from Strax's left. He turned his head to find Daniela lounging lazily on the nearby bed, clad in black lingerie that hugged her body perfectly. Her provocative gaze left no doubt about her intentions.

Strax sighed, a crooked smile playing on his lips as he carefully stored a few vials and scrolls on the table beside him. He was handling rare ingredients: Ancient Beast Fiber and Lunar Lotus Essence, crucial components for the next phase of homunculus creation.

"You really should stop teasing me while I'm working," he replied with a soft chuckle, not taking his eyes off what he was doing.

Daniela arched an eyebrow, a mischievous smile tugging at her lips. "Working? Is that what you're calling fun these days? How about... taking a break to give me some attention?" She propped her head on her hand, her gaze fixed on him as if savoring the sight.

Strax rolled his eyes but couldn't hide the amusement in his expression. "It's the time to... extract my dragon's blood if that's what you're asking," he answered, trying to keep his focus.

"Ah yes, the special ingredient," she teased, sitting up slightly to support herself as she watched him. "Is it happening now? I'd love to 'help' with that process."

He laughed, shaking his head. This was the final ingredient needed for the biological creation of the homunculus, and Daniela knew it. Beyond being a vampire, Strax was also a dragon, which made his blood a rare and precious material. Extracting it, however, was a delicate process—both physically and in terms of patience.

"Normally, a human has about six liters of blood," he began calculating aloud, scratching his chin as he did the math. "I'll need at least thirty liters for the complete ritual, but considering my physiology, I can only draw twelve liters for now. The rest will have to wait until I regenerate."

"Thirty liters?" Daniela repeated with mock shock, leaning slightly toward him. "And you don't want any help with that? Sounds like a lot of work for someone so... exhausted."

Strax shot her a warning look, though his expression remained amused. He knew she loved to tease, and sometimes he even indulged her games. But at that moment, the seriousness of his work kept him in check.

"I really don't have time for your games right now, Daniela," he said with a sigh, though the corner of his mouth still held a hint of a smile.

Daniela ignored the reprimand completely, approaching him with graceful movements. "You know," she began, her voice soft and melodic, "I'm also in need of a little blood. It's been a week since the last time you let me have a taste..."

Strax raised an eyebrow, turning to face her fully. "Seriously? We're talking about creating homunculi—a process that could literally change the future—and all you can think about is quenching your thirst?"

She smiled, entirely unbothered. "Well, you're both a dragon and a vampire, Strax. That's not exactly fair, is it? You've got all that special blood running through your veins, and here I am, starving..." She left the sentence hanging, her gaze locked on his.

He let out a short laugh and shook his head. "You're not going to stop until you get what you want, are you?"

"Exactly," she replied without missing a beat, her grin growing even more mischievous.

Strax sighed deeply and went back to organizing the materials on the table, as if ignoring the vampire would solve the problem. But he knew Daniela was stubborn—and incredibly persuasive.

"If I let you have a little, will you leave me alone to work afterward?" he asked, finally giving in just a little.

Daniela's eyes lit up like a child about to open the gift of their dreams. "I knew you couldn't resist, darling. But of course, I promise to be a good girl after this," she said, her voice dripping with charm and a hint of provocation.

"Highly doubtful," Strax muttered, well accustomed to the vampire's empty promises. With a resigned sigh, he reached up to his collar and pulled it slightly to the side, exposing his neck.

Daniela's eyes narrowed, fixed on the pulsing veins now on display. The intensity in her gaze was almost hypnotic, and Strax could feel the shift in the air as if the very atmosphere had grown heavier. She approached slowly, like a predator ready to pounce, yet her movements held an elegance that only added to his amused discomfort.

"Just a sip," he warned, his tone firm but accompanied by a tired smile.

Daniela returned the smile, a hungry gleam lighting up her eyes. "Just a sip," she repeated, her voice sweet as honey dripping from a spoon.

With care, she placed her hands on his shoulders, her cold fingers a stark contrast to his warm skin. "I promise to be gentle," she murmured before leaning in closer, her fangs faintly visible as she prepared to bite.

Strax closed his eyes, resigned. "You say that every time," he remarked with a sigh, though his voice carried a trace of humor.

When Daniela finally bit down, he felt the sharp sting of her fangs piercing his skin, followed by the strange warmth of his blood flowing. The vampire drank with surprising delicacy, as if savoring the moment, the taste, and perhaps even the intimacy of the act itself.

After a few seconds, she pulled back, licking her lips as a satisfied smile spread across her face. "Delicious as always," she murmured, tracing a delicate finger over his neck, where the blood was already beginning to clot.

"I hope it was worth it," he said, adjusting his collar with an amused look.

Daniela stepped back, still wearing that mischievous smile. "It's always worth it. And you know what? Maybe I'll even keep my promise this time and let you work in peace... for now."

"For now," Strax repeated, shaking his head with a resigned smile. He knew that with Daniela, tranquility was always temporary.

He turned back to his work. "Now, if you'll leave me alone, I need to finish this before Evelyn arrives. She's probably already on her way with Lyana, and I'd rather not give that knight more reasons to hate me."

Daniela tilted her head curiously. "Ah, yes, Lyana. The knight who's hated you ever since that... incident. Has she gotten over it yet?"

Strax rolled his eyes. "Doubt it. Not like I spied on her on purpose! It was an accident."

"Sure, darling," Daniela said with a sarcastic tone, standing up from the bed. She approached him, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Whatever happens, remember: you can always count on me. Just don't forget to save more blood for next time."

He let out a low laugh and shook his head. "Keep dreaming, vampire."

With that, Daniela left the room, leaving Strax alone to finish his work.

"You can come out now," Strax said, his voice calm but laced with a touch of humor.

From the shadows of the room, Scarlet emerged with elegance, a playful smile on her lips. "Tsk, that girl didn't even notice my presence. She needs more training," she remarked, crossing her arms as she surveyed the space.

Strax picked up a dagger from his desk and twirled it between his fingers, a carefree smile on his face. "Do you really think she didn't notice? I'm certain she knew the whole time. You know why? Because she wanted to drink my blood in front of you," he said, his tone teasing.

"She wanted to mark me, fufufu," he added with a playful laugh.

Scarlet narrowed her eyes, muttering under her breath. "Damn brat..." She shook her head, trying to push back the growing jealousy, before redirecting her focus to him. "The skeleton will be ready in a month. The dwarf I hired refused to do it in less time."

Strax simply nodded, having expected as much. "I figured. My contact also mentioned it would take a month to finish the organs and the magical system for the body."

Scarlet looked at him with a mix of curiosity and skepticism. "You're really going to give those bodies to the dragons? Not that I don't trust you, but..." She paused, carefully choosing her words. "I don't trust spirits."

Strax chuckled, his unwavering confidence evident. "Don't worry. I know what you're thinking, but let me explain it in simple terms." He leaned forward slightly, as if to emphasize his point. "It's impossible for a dragon to betray me."

Scarlet raised an eyebrow. "Oh, really? And why's that?"

"Because a dragon's pride is worth more than their life. Especially for Ouroboros and Tiamat, who are at the top of the hierarchy. Those two would never do anything to tarnish that pride," he explained, his tone serious but with a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips.

Scarlet still seemed unconvinced, but before she could respond, Strax continued. "And that's just their dragon side. When it comes to their feminine side..." He paused for dramatic effect, his grin widening. "Well, it's even less likely. We're animals, Scarlet, at the end of the day. And my scent already tells them everything they need to know: that I'm the best male they could ever have."

He laughed loudly, carefree, as Scarlet rolled her eyes.

"You're insufferable sometimes," she muttered, crossing her arms, though the small smile forming on her lips betrayed that part of her found his exaggerated confidence amusing.

"And you love it," he replied with a wink. "Now, let's get ready. We've got a month ahead, but the work never ends, right?"

"Of course, what do you need?" she asked with a smile.

"How about you donate twelve liters of your blood?" he joked.
