D.E.M.O.N.S: Getting Summoned Weekly isn't so Bad

Chapter 1785 Rock the Jail Part 1

--- Kat ---

Nixilei gave the go ahead. Kat let herself drop. She still wasn't sure this was the correct decision and Nixilei's mental state wasn't the most normal seeming at the moment. The temptation to put this off for a while longer rang out… but Kat had already been on the edge. The slightest push towards one way or another was enough to convince her to act. Better to do it now rather then later. If there were consequences? She'd deal with them. Especially when she was completely fresh from resting overnight in the jail cell. If need be Kat would remain on guard for the next few days.

Kat let herself angle downwards as she rapidly sped up, her horns pointing downwards. Landing head first probably wasn't the best idea but Kat didn't feel like correcting it right now. She still had plenty of time. That was, until she felt something pressing against her horns. Kat frowned for a moment before passing through whatever it was. Kat heard a faint cracking sound and checking her horns with a hand revealed no blood. Odd.

Kat was moments away from turning the jail into pulp. Her mind slowed down… and there was a better way to do this. Kat waited until her head was moments away from crashing into the roof, the fastest of the guards were already reacting as Kat let herself transform into water. Instead of conserving momentum as she'd expected Kat's body of water simply halted in mid-air for a moment. Kat quickly let herself disperse, and funnel into the gates. She was heading for the male cells.

At the same time, Lily was ripping the bindings from Nixilei with her shadows and pulling the fae up and out of the little hole she'd been trapped in. Nixilei brushed herself down and then strode off towards. "Alright let's go get Green," announced Nixilei. "I'm ready to beat some fools up,"

Lily ripped off the bars the heavy enchanted metal doors that separated the high security wing Nixilei was in to the rest of the woman's prison and wondered if it was meant to be that simple. At the same time Nixilei spat a ring out of her mouth and pulled out a pair of brass knuckles. "Where did you get those?"

"They're not my favourite weapons… but they're great for making a statement and arguably less lethal," said Nixilei.

"Right…" Lily trailed off.

Back with Kat, she'd dropped down in front of Gareth and Kress. This triggered a wave of silence across the area for a few moments before the guards that were on patrol rushed over. Kat let them come, even as they started to link their shields together. Kat quickly slapped them out of the way and knocked the first wave unconscious. This of course triggered a round of cheers from the prisoners but Kat wasn't here for them.

Gareth was freed first, and as soon as he got to Kat he simply collapsed. She had to catch him and throw him over her shoulder. It wasn't clear if he was awake or not but Gareth was exhausted. A few moments later, just before Kress was free a number of spells were launched towards Kat from the edge of the room. It was easy to simply dodge them and get back to ripping the doors off Kress' holding cell. "Welp, looks like you've got all this handled. Are we heading out the front door?"

"Yup," announced Kat. "Lily has the girls,"

Or at least, she was making her way there. For some reason there were a lot more guards around Nixilei's section of the prison and the pair were having a bit more difficulty. Well, no it was more like they were facing a greater number of guards. Lily was acting more like a defender, bringing out shadow shields and occasionally paper ones so that Nixilei could just go to town on the guards.

Nixilei wasn't pulling any punches. Any guard that came close quickly had their jaw broken. In fairness, it was the most exposed part of the outfit and even if there were defensive enchantments on the lot of it… that just meant Nixilei got an excuse to follow up on her attack a few times. Normally it took someone between four and six good hits to the jaw to take a guard out but Nixilei was, if anything, ecstatic about that little factoid.

Compared to Kat's mostly bloodless and instant takedowns Nixilei had no issues with making sure it hurt. Each of her strikes were designed to disorientate and then cause a great deal of pain. In that order. If they passed out eventually? That just meant she could move onto someone else. Lily had tried to deal with the guards herself but Nixilei had just given her a look that asked 'what the heck are you doing' and well… that was that. At least Green was visible and not being watched too closely. Apparently nobody had told these guards that they were all in a team together.

While Nixilei was coating things in blood, Kat and crew were making their way out. A number of other prisoners were asking to be released as well but Kat was ignoring them. She didn't have the time to work out who deserved to be here and who didn't… but just because she wasn't going to help didn't meant that all of the prisoners were willing to just sit back and complain. At least a few were willing to make their own path to freedom.

The first was a thin shifty looking elf that was starting to pick the locks. Another was a rather buff elf that was bashing on the bars and making a few noticeable dints in them. Kat wasn't sure if they'd make it out because they were taking their time… but the real problem was the third 'escapee'. He was a scarred and bulky elf that simply took a key out from inside of his mattress and unlocked the door. Kat was… maybe not fine but accepting of that… until he moved one door over and started to unlock that one as well. Shit. "Kress? We want to stop that?" asked Kat as she jerked her head in the direction of the scarred elf at the same time as she ducked under a spell to dodge it.

Kress shrugged, "Gareth would probably say that we should prevent this from escalating… but if they're so stupid as to let someone sneak out a master key or something? Then fuck'em. That has to not only fit the locks but have the matching enchantments. That's a level of preparation and corruption that's pretty extreme. If it's got to this point I say just let them go," Kat chewed on that answer uncertain as they approached the stairs leading up and out of here.

Back with the others, Green was just getting free. Lily had to actually try for this one. Instead of just taking out the doors she had to focus on the hinge pins. Popping them out meant the door was much easier to pull apart and it was really due to the malleability of her shadows that she did that much. Nixilei took a few hits while she was fiddling with the door as well… but if anything that just seemed to make Nixilei smile more. Oh, and Green was asleep.

Lily was tempted to leave her that way… but the chance for a gag was too strong. Lily slapped Green hard causing the fae to jolt upwards and look around. "Oh, right. Prison break…" Green threw herself off the bed and tried to pull out some weapons or armour… but found herself unable to do so. "Huh… can't get into my ring…"

Nixilei kicked the nearest guards away to give her a bit of time… and found that she could no longer access it either. "Shit. They've either put up some temporary wards or only the high security stuff is fucked. Wait no, they're probably just meant to remove the rings before you get put in their. Hmm…" Nixilei slammed two guards' heads together to buy her a bit more time to think. "Lily think we need to back up so Green can get her weapons out?"

Lily shrugged with two shadow hands. How was she meant to answer easily without letting the legion of guards know what was going on. Said legion of guards took advantage of her distraction to shoot a crossbow bolt towards her but Lily's instincts caught the sharp twang of the bowstring and was able to correctly use that to throw her out of the way. Lily was blinking at the place she just was now showing a crossbow bolt. [Oh… they're going full lethal. Welp. They deserve everything Nixilei does to them then.]

Kat couldn't help but agree. She also no longer felt bad about the fact other prisoners were being released. Was it potentially bad that she was more annoyed at them shooting at Lily then anything else so far? Yup. Did Kat care about that little detail? Definitely not.
