Destroying My Own World

Chapter 328: Fear and Admiration.

Zachary and Duncan attacked Deviatris simultaneously and it almost didn't give her an opening to throw a counterattack. Not only that, Sophia sometimes replaced Zachary or Duncan in between the attacks with her keen eyes for opening.

The three of them made Deviatris struggle the moment they could keep up with her speed. Felix and Victoria secretly joined in and caught her off guard every single time and it made her lose a lot of blood and strength.

"Move!" Javelin shouted as soon as she finished making a magic circle.

All of them suddenly jumped away and Deviatris didn't realize she was standing on top of a magic circle. The moment the circle lit up, chains appeared from the ground and bound her limbs almost in an instant, making it impossible to avoid. Experience exclusive tales on My Virtual Library Empire

Deviatris couldn't free herself from it and the more she resisted, the righter the chains were to bind her. She ended up almost suffocating herself as the chain wrapped around her neck that could snap at any moment.

"Nice one. With this, it should be over now," Victoria said as she tapped on Javelin's right shoulder. "I'll handle her from here," she added and stood in front of the circle.

"Huh? What are you planning to do? It's too dangerous for you to get into the circle because you'll disrupt the magic inside!" Javelin looked at Victoria who was about to step inside the circle.

"Just watch..." Sophia said. "If I could see, I would love to see Victoria's secret ability," she added.

Victoria entered the magic circle and she didn't disrupt the magic at all. She then threw her daggers since they had melted and pulled her folded fan from under her sleeve. She spread the fan open and that was when the magic circle got amplified.

The circle glowed brighter as Victoria walked to the center with the fan covering her mouth. She looked down and Deviatris and the moment she folded the fan by tapping it on her left palm, Deviatris' body was pulled from five different sides. It was an instant death the moment her body was ripped apart into six pieces.

Everyone was shocked, even Javelin had no idea that Victoria could use magic, especially to understand her magic circle. The magic that only she knew about the formula, and yet Victoria could amplify it and take over the magic.

"You can use magic all along?" Javelin asked and furrowed her eyebrows as she looked at Victoria in disbelief.

"You never asked, but that's not really the case. I have my own secret," Victoria answered and showed her mischievous smile behind the folded fan.

The reason why Victoria got her title as Tyrant was because of that skill of hers. The skill that could take over the other's skill and amplify it to some extent. That was Lillith's skill by taking over skills and making it hers, but the difference was that Victoria could only use it once per activation without any restrictions. With that being said, Victoria was indeed the strongest among the Five Sinners, and she could be the strongest Gifted.

"Did they just defeat Vistara? Did we just clear the rift?" Devlin asked in disbelief.

Suddenly everyone cheered and screamed their lungs out in excitement. They had no idea what had happened behind the scenes, and who made it possible for them to clear the rift.

Everyone was overwhelmed by the rewards given by the system and suddenly some of them received strong weapons. They were rewarded with a weapon box by the Gods for clearing the rift. On the other hand, Zachary and the others, they received more than just weapons, they received new achievements.

Zachary didn't look happy at all with what he received because he believed that he didn't do much that was worth the reward he got. He wondered if Mykel got more than everyone combined, but whenever he asked about it to Mykel, Mykel didn't give any answer.

"Shall we head back?" Aleric looked at Zachary and the others.

"You guys can head back first, we have something to discuss," Zachary shook his head.

Everyone left with big smiles on their faces and couldn't wait to show the world about their new weapons. When they had long gone, Mykel landed right in front of Zachary and the others who were surrounding Deviatris' body which had been severed into many pieces.

They watched as Mykel grabbed the glowing marble from Deviatris' torso and looked at it before he put it in his pocket. Once again, the body disappeared the moment he took that thing just like Mavisha.

"Do you think you can handle the next demon on your own?" Mykel asked and looked at them.

"Have you finally decided to not bother yourself with the rift? If that's the case, we will try and see how far we can go," Victoria answered as she stared Mykel in the eye.

"Good enough, and I believe the next one is in the Isola Key Island. That's your homeland, and I heard the new leaders appeared there," Mykel said. "The Twelve Big Boss, was it? It would be fun to see the old ones versus the new ones," he smirked and then walked away.

"Should we discipline them once we get back there?" Duncan asked as he punched his fists against each other.

"Can't agree more," Sophia giggled as she swung her new long swords that looked like each side of a scissors. "Mommy is coming back home..." she added.

The result of the rift clearance was a lot more satisfying to them since a lot of them did contribute to the clearance. Even so, people were still asking about the man with a mask that cleared the rift in the Verdentia Republic. His identity was more intriguing than the clearance since some of them believed he was helping them behind the scenes.

"Thank you, for letting them play here, Melissa," Mykel said as he watched Jessie and Henry play with their friends.

"It's my pleasure. I love kids because they're innocent and pure. Seeing something like this makes me believe that the world isn't that bad," Melissa answered with a genuine smile. "Are you going to go back immediately, Sir Alester?" she asked.

"No. Elestria wants me to stay here to monitor you. She wants to know about the progress," Mykel answered. "Do you think you can do it on your own? It's not an easy task to sell out a nation. To be precise, are you sure you want to betray the nation that your late father tried to protect?" he glanced at Melissa.

Melissa's smile disappeared and she looked depressed when she thought about her late father. She didn't want to do it, but since her life was in Mykel's hands and knowing that she had made a deal with the devil, she couldn't do anything about it.

"Just do what you have to do. I'm not going to let innocent lives suffer for Elestria's greed. Remember, you're working for me, not her," Mykel said as he stood up. "Do I look like someone who would let these children suffer and live in a world full of lies?" he looked at Melissa with a gentle smile.

"Can you promise me that? That you won't be like her or those people who are blinded by their emotions?" Melissa asked and she looked desperate.

"Watch me closely. That's all I can say," Mykel answered and then left to play with Jessie and Henry.

Melissa wasn't satisfied with the answer, only gave her more anxiety about everything. When she was deep in thought, Zachary came to her side and stood beside her.

"Rest assured, My Lady. Of all the people I have seen, Mykel is the only person who can suppress his emotions and feelings. How should I say it..." Zachary paused as he rubbed his chin underneath the mask. "He looks at the world like it's his playground. He could achieve everything if he wanted to, but he didn't and just watched kids playing in the playground from the side," he explained.

"I know what you're trying to say," Melissa nodded her head with understanding. "The question is what is he after? His goal? If what he wants is world domination, then it makes sense if he uses us, Her Majesty Elestria, and the strongest Gifted from around the world as his pawns. There's nothing we can do because we are nothing but pieces on a chessboard," she pointed out and kept staring at Mykel.

Zachary couldn't argue with Melissa because he knew that and had thought about that as well. Deep down, he wanted to believe that Mykel wasn't someone who tried to take over the world. He believed what Mykel was after was something beyond that, perhaps something that nobody could see or imagine.

"Let's believe in him, My Lady. As long as we are in his good grace, there's nothing that we should be worried about," Zachary said and tried to comfort Melissa.

"I have never thought you could say something like that, Zach. Are you afraid of him or do you admire him because I can't tell," Melissa asked and looked at Zachary.

"Both. As a man, I envy his focus. He has a strong foundation that it would be impossible to tear down. His way of thinking is terrifying, but all the choices he made, everything and everyone is bending toward him and following him. He has power, integrity, wisdom, commitment, vision, courage, and the most important part is he's an amazing leader," Zachary explained.

"That sounds terrifying," Melissa said with her eyebrows raised as she sighed.

"Yes, indeed," Zachary nodded in agreement.
