Devil's Downfall

Chapter 113: Work around.

Pax picked up Zengo, as his hight is 9 foot the relatively small Zengo looked like a child in his arms. The both of them arrived before the gates, the whole town shivered in fear when they saw Pax. It is natural to be terrified by angels, most things are, it's almost like it's ingrained into their DNA.

One of the braver guards, a captain rank, went up to Zengo who was now standing on his two feet. "It's probably best if you keep going on your way." The guard commanded with bravado.

Zengo sighed, and pulled out his identification card.

"I'm a teacher here." Zengo grumbled.

The guard looked at the angel in fear. "It says here you're a lesser king, this must be a fake."

All the other guards were praising the man for his balls.

"Oh, that, I really don't have time for this. Im considered too strong to be a Lord, yet too weak to be a King, so for now I'm in a rarely used temporary spot."

"Please, this town has done no harm to you. Can't you just leave." The guard bagged.

"Oh well, you can't blame a man for trying." Zengo said with pity.

He covered an eye with one hand, and lifted his sunglasses with the other. The guard stared into his eye blankly for a second before dropping to his knees in tears. "Let him in, he's a teacher." The guard said, shaking back and forth.

Zengo walked past. "Don't worry, guard man, you will forget it all soon."

One of Zengo's eyes has an ancient power written on it. That if viewed shows the barriers whole life to the viewer. The other eye has a more sinister power, which Zengo prefers to keep a secret. It's called binding wills, the viewer can be binded to the user through the view of the eye. One can resist, but if your mental fortitude is too low then you will pass out. It is impossible with this power to bind someone who doesn't give in, but the pure agony of resisting is often incentive enough for those of the weaker hearts.

Zengo found the other staff in front of the school, Grant seemed to have woken up within the time he was gone.

"What the hell! Is that an angel?" Marcis screamed.

Zengo flashed Marcis a golden seal.

"Do you understand?" Zengo asked.

"Head teacher, have you used a spell again?" Marcis realized who the man in front of him was. It wasn't that he remembered him, hell he didn't even know Zengo's name. But he was told by Saints hand that there were two head teachers, and if you should ever forget that, the golden seal is the mark of a head teacher. He also told him that if he ever forgot something and he couldn't figure out at all, to know that it was the head teacher who casted a spell. Him telling Marcis this, acted as a work around for Zengo's cost. Although it felt wild and wrong to act like he knew someone, that to his knowledge he has never met before.

In the crowd Leo starred in amazement. The angel looked back at him in confusion, Pax wondered if he should kneel, but it felt wrong after being out of heaven for so long, so all he could do was watch.

Among the teachers some have seen many battles, where others have only trained under skilled masters, but what they all have in common is they have never fought together. One might say that a strong team only needs to be composed of strong members, although that is strictly not true. A strong team is a team that works well together. Some of the strongest teams can take on those a rank higher. So this group of teachers can barely be called a fighting force. Zengo, even though he was the strongest, could not take the role of group leader. It was Marcis who had the true skill to lead. After all, no one wants to follow a stranger.

Grant came up to Zengo.

"Where's Wisp?" He asked.

Zengo wasn't dumb he could peace it together. "She's been taken."

Grant was furious at that. "What do you mean she's been taken?"

"Human, you must relax. The enemy is strong, we need to be reasonable. Let's make a plan before blindly pointing fingers." Pax said with wisdom.

Grant looked at the angel more mad than ever. "Yeah, I've seen your disgusting kind before. All you do is scheme and manipulate."

Zengo stepped in between them. "Now's not the time. I heard one of the undead say they were scouts. That means a bigger group is coming."

"A group? Do you mean more undead?" Marcis asked.

"Could be, or worse a human could be commanding them." Zengo replied.

"Brig, tell the guards to shut the gates." Marcis commanded.

A hooded man at the rank of high commander rushed to the gates.

"Where's Saints Hand?" Leo asked the question no one wanted too.

"Gone, he's on a mission. Who knows when he will get back." Zengo replied.

"Who here can cast spells?" Marcis asked. Ten people raised their hands. "Okay you guys take the walls, bring a couple melee experts as guards. We will leave two of us to protect the students. The rest will come with me to hold the gate."

Leo decided to stay back, he was already a much lower rank than the other teachers, and didn't want to get in their way. A woman by the name of Luna also chose to stay, she's on the shorter side with long black hair, at the rank of low commander.

Zengo found his place on the wall, he was left biting his nails. His magic was still yet to recover, and the enemy could be here at any moment. Grant took a seat next to him.

"You think they will kill her?" He asked.

"Not really. Undead are beasts of murder, so the very fact that they didn't kill her on the spot proves they have a need for her." Zengo gave an honest reply.

"But then what if they get what they want from her?"

"Be optimistic, human. She will be fine, I could sense that she's strong." Pax said.

"I agree with sir Pax, all you can do is hope." Zengo agreed.
