The screenplay that Angelina Jolie submitted was called "Maleficent".

Maleficent is the character in the movie "Sleeping Beauty", a malicious fairy who, because she wasn't invited to the baptism ceremony of Princess Aurora, cursed the princess to die from a spindle prick on her 16th birthday.

To take revenge on the king, she placed a wicked curse on Princess Aurora, however, as the little princess grew, Maleficent gradually realized that the princess could not only bring peace to both worlds but also bring her true happiness. As she spent time with the little princess, her soul slowly became purified.

After reading the screenplay, Link thought of a movie similar to the script, "Sleeping Spell", starring Angelina Jolie, where she becomes a horned forest witch.

The box office performance of that movie seemed quite good, surpassing "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" starring Jolie and Pitt, becoming the highest-grossing movie of Jolie's films.

"Mr. & Mrs. Smith" had a global box office of 480 million.

While "Sleeping Spell" had a production cost of 180 million US Dollars, based on this figure, the movie had the potential for investment.

After reading the script, he recommended the project to the production department, so they could contact Jolie and Disney Pictures to discuss the specifics of cooperation.

The screenplay was written by Linda Woolverton, the screenwriter of "Alice in Wonderland". Since it draws from the story background of Disney's "Sleeping Beauty", Disney also became a producer of this film.

However, Disney was worried about investing too much and not being able to recoup, only agreeing to invest 80 million US Dollars, leaving the rest to the filmmakers to figure out.

Angelina Jolie liked the script very much and wanted to play the leading role. She invested 30 million US Dollars through her movie studio and promised to help attract investment.
