Don't confiscate my identity as a human race

Chapter 47 Lanci starts to act out of character_1

In the spacious classrooms of Demon Academy, under the blend of dim lights, the wood grain on the oak flooring and the carpets all carried a sense of inexplicable desolation and melancholy. The only clear sound was that of the examiner's footsteps, as if the moving intention to kill was wandering around the examination room.

The back row of the examination room.

Hyperion bowed her head, her eyes slightly trembling, her mind blank.

She had never thought that she would end up in a Shadow World where she had to pretend to be a demon.

For her, it was an extreme form of execution.

Because, compared to other challengers temporarily disguised as demons by the background of the Shadow World, she was directly stripped of her daily Disguise Magic, revealing her true demonic form.

This was what she, even if she were to die, would not want the people of the Royal Capital to see. Hyperion was unsure how to face Lanci in this form.

However, the only clear thing in her mind at this moment was -

Her and Lanci's Shadow World journey was being broadcast in the school's display screen.

This was a performance as well as an execution.

All she could do was try her best to calm her emotions and attempt to focus on the exam questions in front of her.

Even though Hyperion, with her half-demon blood, had a high aptitude for Demon Magic Text and was naturally adept at some Demon Race magic, she had grown up as Miss Duchess in the Human Kingdom and had no idea how to write such messy demon magic.

If she didn't know how to solve these problems, it meant that they were not tailored for the challengers to solve themselves.

To pass the exam and exit the examination room, the solution was obvious -

The challengers needed to figure out which other students knew how to answer the questions, copy the answers from them while avoiding the vigilant eyes of the two examiners.

Hyperion and Lanci also needed to work together. Otherwise, they might not be able to collect enough passing answers within two hours.

Because the demon students were also on guard against each other. For example, the students in the front row were extra wary of others looking at their papers. Some of them might even misguide other students by purposely providing incorrect answers.

"Hoo..."

Hyperion scrambled to regulate her disordered breathing.

The only thing that gave her a shred of relief was the calming presence of Lanci at her side.

She assumed that he must have also understood the rules of the examination room by now.

Of course.

Hyperion wasn't sure if her anticipated strategy matched with Lanci's, so she made no move.

The agreement between her and Lanci was -

Lanci would watch the enemy, and all she needed to do was watch Lanci.

...

Somewhere not too far to the right of Hyperion,

Lanci was leaning back in his chair, looking up and watching the two examiners, lost in thought.

They were impeccably dressed, courteous on the surface, but carried an undeniable sense of terror.

One of them was an Owl Demon - their black fur smooth and shiny, their red eyes cold and cunning. They wore a body-hugging classic suit, decorated with intricate gold details, exuding an old and mysterious religious atmosphere.

The other was a Dragon Horned Demon - their stature full of dignity and power, eyes seeming to blaze with flames. Dressed in an opulent vintage suit featuring complex embroidery, they looked like the embodiment of power.

They both appeared to be high-ranking teachers in the school.

Though the two examiners noticed Lanci's gaze, they said nothing.

Lanci's gaze was honest, as if his conscience was clear, not at all resembling a cheater's gaze. It was more like he was taking a break from studying to rest his eyes.

Crucially, keeping an examiner in sight didn't count as any form of cheating.

Although this action would certainly attract the examiner's attention, it would consequentially make cheating a lot more difficult.

However, this was not in vain.

In several minutes of observation, Lanci had discovered quite a lot.

For example, both examiners walked in a rhythmic pattern and at a consistent speed.

And also,

In the classroom, there indeed existed instances of cheating—

Many of the Demon Students sitting in the front rows would seize the fleeting moments when there were blind spots in both invigilators' fields of vision to initiate their little acts of deceit.

Some of their methods of cheating were simple but highly efficient, while others involved direct use of magic displaying an array of Divine Skills to get the job done.

For instance, some demon seemed to have just exploited a bit of Spiritual Magic to forcibly occupy Lanci's vision up close for a moment, causing his vision to black out.

Later, Lanci felt as if he had been marked out as a poor student, as if once the cheating cliques noticed that he was unable to answer the questions, the nearby Demon Students wouldn't give him any chances to cheat off their work. They seemed to be actively excluding him, forbidding him from joining their academic fraud.

"Luckily, my spirit and resistance towards magic are quite high, otherwise being manipulated by such magic would be truly sickening,"

Lanci thought to himself.

He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and felt that he gradually understood everything.

Then, it was time for him to start showcasing his own abilities.

...

In Lanci's position, an opportunity would present itself approximately every minute when the vision of the two examiners overlapped, creating a blind spot.

For a brief second, one could attempt to cheat. It was also the most opportune moment to act.

This rare moment was about to reappear.

At this time, the two Demon Students in front of Lanci could not resist turning their bodies sideways, gripping their exam papers tightly, their bodies taut with tension.

Their plan was to each complete the questions they were capable of answering, then swap their test papers during this wave of distraction.

All of this was under Lanci's watchful gaze.

Despite being crude, it was indeed effective, as both of the clever Demon Students didn't fill name on their test papers.

Hyperion was quietly observing Lanci from the side.

Following Lanci's focused gaze targeting like a predator hunting its prey, she also noticed the movements of the two Demon Students in front.

Hyperion had to admit, Lanci's bold strategy of "openly observing the entire playing field", even though it attracted the attention of proctors, had also allowed him to gather considerable amounts of information effectively.

As in this imminent moment.

The two candidates in front would likely exchange their test papers.

As long as his reaction was quick enough.

Lanci could utilize the auxiliary function of the Tool Magic Card [Shadow World Record Program] to record the information on the two test papers being swapped in front of him to a certain extent.

Then, view it within his own field of vision.

This was a convenience and information difference only a Challenger could possess!

As the blind spot appeared in the proctor's sight, the two Demon Students in front started to move.

Hyperion was looking forward to Lanci successfully snatching the answers.

If he managed to copy the answers from more students using the two students in front as springboards, perhaps they wouldn't need to write for the full two hours, and could hand in their papers early and leave the examination room.

Just as Hyperion was harbouring such thoughts—

On the floor, Lanci raised his hand.

"Teachers, they're cheating!"

His righteous voice resonated throughout the classroom.

Immediately, both proctors turned their heads abruptly, their gaze locked onto the two Demon Students who had been caught in the act of cheating, in the middle of swapping their test papers!

The two Demon Students being reported by Lanci also instinctively turned their heads back, their eyes wide in disbelief as they looked at Lanci in the back row, as if they were looking at a dog!

"The two of you, I have seen it."

The Dragon Horned Demon who was closer to the cheating students marched towards Lanci's front row, while the Owl Demon who was farther away clicked his tongue once and continued to move forward.

A brutal slaughter was about to commence.

The air seemed to compress the eerie screams of terror, causing the other Demon Students to feel as though they were suffocating.

The next second, the only sounds left in the classroom were the crushing of bones, and the splattering of fresh blood and organs.

The cheating Demon Students were reduced to corpses in a matter of moments!
