Doomsday Cultivation of Truth

Chapter 1: Chapter 1: The Sudden Arrival of the Apocalypse

In the evening, the setting sun was like blood, dyeing the sky a brilliant shade of orange and red. The hustle and bustle of the city gradually quieted down in the afterglow, but this beautiful scene couldn't mask the growing fear spreading in people's hearts.

Edwin Black dragged his heavy steps, slowly walking on his way home. Deep exhaustion showed in his azure eyes. Under his tall and straight nose, his tightly pursed lips revealed his inner unease. His golden hair gently fluttered in the breeze, but it couldn't bring him the slightest relief.

Edwin ended a mentally exhausting day of work as usual, but recently, he always felt as if a huge rock was weighing on his heart.

Back in his small and cold apartment, Edwin casually threw his briefcase aside and collapsed onto the sofa. The dim light in the room seemed to be telling the helplessness of life.

He turned on the TV, hoping to find a shred of comfort from this noisy world. However, the breaking news broadcast on TV was like a thunderbolt, instantly shattering his world.

"Emergency notice! An unknown virus has erupted globally. Infected people will show symptoms such as high fever and coma. Currently, there is no effective treatment method. Please citizens stay at home as much as possible and avoid going out."

Edwin's heart sank sharply, and an ominous premonition welled up in his heart. He quickly opened his phone, and social media was already flooded with news about the virus. People's panic and helplessness came at him like a tide through lines of text and pictures.

The city streets, once bustling with traffic, were now deserted. Shops were closed, and the window panes reflected the desolation of the doomsday. Fallen leaves danced in the wind, as if it were the last dance of this world. Dark clouds gathered in the sky, oppressively making people feel breathless.

Edwin decided to stock up on some daily necessities. He put on a mask and carefully walked out of the house. There was a disgusting stench in the streets, and garbage was everywhere. The once prosperous supermarket was now in a mess, with the shelves completely empty.

Helplessly, Edwin had to return home empty-handed. Back at home, he looked out of the window at the gradually darkening world, his heart filled with confusion and fear.

A few days later, Edwin's food and water were about to run out. He knew that he had to venture out again to look for supplies.

Walking on the terrifyingly silent street, Edwin's footsteps were particularly distinct. The buildings on both sides seemed like huge tombs, devouring all vitality.

Suddenly, a low growl broke the silence. Edwin's heart rate suddenly increased, and cold sweat broke out on his forehead. He clenched the wooden stick in his hand and carefully walked towards the direction of the sound.

At a street corner, he saw a distorted and terrifying figure pouncing on a trembling survivor. The figure's skin was a strange bluish-black color, its eyes were blood-red, and a terrifying breath spewed from its mouth.

Edwin didn't have time to think. He gathered his courage and rushed up, trying to save the survivor.

But the monster's strength was surprisingly strong. Edwin was instantly overturned to the ground. Just when he thought he was going to die, a brilliant light descended from the sky and accurately hit the monster. The monster instantly turned to ashes in the light.

Edwin stared at this scene in horror, breathing heavily. At this time, an old man in a white robe slowly walked over. The old man had silvery-white hair and beard, and his deep eyes seemed to contain endless wisdom.

"Young man, you are very brave. But in this apocalyptic world, courage alone is far from enough." The old man's voice was calm and powerful.

"Sir, what on earth is going on?" Edwin asked in a trembling voice.

The old man sighed deeply and said, "This is a catastrophe for humanity. This virus wasn't naturally formed but was maliciously created by someone with the aim of destroying humanity."

"What? How could someone be so insane?" Edwin angrily clenched his fists.

"However, there is always a way out. In this apocalyptic world, there is a long-lost cultivation technique. If one can master it, perhaps it can save humanity, resist the virus, and gain powerful strength." The old man looked at Edwin firmly with his eyes.
