Douluo 2: Check-In Douluo Dalu

Chapter 53: 53. Misunderstanding

Wang Feng, who had just finished showering, was now walking toward his room. Once he reached the door, he knocked and called out, "Wang Dong, Yuhao, are you done changing clothes?"

"W-Wait a moment! We still have a few things to prepare," came the slightly panicked reply from inside the room.

Wang Feng raised an eyebrow, feeling a bit suspicious, but he waited patiently at the door.

A few moments later, Wang Dong's voice called out, "Okay, you can come in now."

Without thinking too much, Wang Feng turned the doorknob and entered the room. He let out a soft sigh and muttered, "You two take forever to shower. That's why I've been saying since yesterday that it's better to shower one at a time in the dorm. But you're both so stubborn—"

Before he could finish his sentence, Wang Dong cut him off.

"We're not stubborn!" he snapped slightly, his voice a bit raised. "We just… have our own habits. So yeah, it takes a little longer."

Huo Yuhao quickly nodded in agreement. "Yeah! Besides, you take a long time in the shower too, don't you?"

"Exactly! Don't go blaming others. Mind your own business first," Wang Dong chimed in, backing Yuhao up.

Wang Feng could only scratch his head, feeling like he was being attacked from both sides. "Alright, alright. I won't bring it up again," he said in defeat.

"Hmph! Good that you realize," Wang Dong huffed, crossing his arms.

Wang Feng bowed dramatically. "Yes, Your Majesty Wang Dong. I admit my mistake. Would Your Majesty be willing to forgive me?"

Wang Dong rolled his eyes, but a small smile crept onto his lips. "Since you apologized so sincerely… with great reluctance, I shall accept your apology."

Huo Yuhao chuckled softly at the silly exchange between the two.

Wang Feng and Wang Dong immediately turned to look at Huo Yuhao when they heard his quiet laugh.

Caught in their gaze, Huo Yuhao grew nervous. He couldn't help but ask, "W-What is it? Why are you both looking at me like that?"

Wang Feng and Wang Dong didn't answer. Instead, they continued to stare at him more intensely.

Blushing, Huo Yuhao couldn't take it any longer. "I-I'm going out to sell grilled fish! If you want some, just come to the usual spot." He said it quickly before bolting out of the room, away from their gazes.

Once the room was quiet again, Wang Dong and Wang Feng looked at each other. Then, as if they couldn't hold it in any longer, they both smiled and high-fived like they were celebrating something.

Wang Feng chuckled softly as he lowered his hand. "Did you see his face? He turned red like a tomato."

Wang Dong giggled as well. "He totally panicked. Good thing he didn't run straight into the door on his way out."

They sat together at the edge of Wang Feng's bed. A comfortable silence filled the room, with only the sound of the wind drifting in through the open window. The setting sun cast a warm golden glow across their room.

"Do you think…" Wang Dong spoke quietly, turning to Wang Feng, "how long… can the three of us keep joking around like this?"

Wang Feng gave him a strange look. "What's with you, talking like you're about to go somewhere? We're going to be roommates for at least a year or maybe more, so don't say stuff like that. It doesn't suit you."

Hearing that, Wang Dong's pink eyes immediately glared at Wang Feng in anger. "What do you mean it doesn't suit me?"

Wang Feng simply replied, "Y'know, just what it literally means. Alright, alright, don't get mad. If you keep getting angry like that, you'll get old faster."

Instead of calming down, Wang Dong's eyes burned even brighter, and his face turned red—whether from anger or embarrassment, it was hard to tell.

"What did you just say? Age quickly?!" he shouted, grabbing the nearest pillow and smacking it right into Wang Feng's face.

Thump!

Wang Feng was pushed back slightly, but he just burst out laughing while deflecting the next pillow attack. "Hahaha! See? You're proving my point! Short-tempered! That's an early sign of aging, you know?!"

"DO YOU HAVE A DEATH WISH?!" Wang Dong leapt onto the bed and started bombarding Wang Feng with relentless pillow strikes.

"Oh god! This is dormitory abuse!" Wang Feng shouted as he tried to protect himself, laughing loudly. Their scuffle caused quite the commotion on their dorm floor.

After a while, they finally stopped. Not because Wang Dong was no longer mad, but simply because he was exhausted from their "battle."

Panting, his cheeks flushed and breathing unsteady, Wang Dong pointed at Wang Feng and declared dramatically,

"You're too intense! I can't take this anymore… if this keeps up, I'm seriously going to collapse on your bed!"

(So here's the thing, bro:

"猛" (měng) means fierce, intense, or wild. It's normal in fighting contexts, but in other contexts... yeah, it can sound very suggestive.

"趴在你床上" (pā zài nǐ chuáng shàng) means "collapse/lie down on your bed." Again, if someone only hears that part... the meaning can get real ambiguous real fast. 😅)

Right at that moment, the bedroom door—which hadn't been properly shut after Huo Yuhao left—creaked open a little wider from a gust of wind through the window.

Several students walking by in the corridor heard Wang Dong's shout loud and clear.

Suddenly, silence.

Multiple heads turned toward their room, eyes locking onto Wang Feng with expressions that could only be described as a mix of shock, confusion, and deep... suspicion.

One guy, holding a towel, froze mid-step, his face pale. "I-I didn't hear anything. I don't know anything," he muttered before scurrying away.

The others exchanged glances and began whispering among themselves.

"He said… intense?"

"On his bed...?"

"...Collapsed?"

Meanwhile inside the room, Wang Feng—who had still been laughing—froze.

"Oh no," he muttered, turning toward the now-wide-open door.

Wang Dong finally realized how his words might've sounded. His eyes widened, and he turned to look the same way as Wang Feng.

He dashed toward the door and slammed it shut, then turned around and glared at Wang Feng like he wanted to bury himself alive.

"THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!" he shouted.

"What?! I didn't even say anything back then!" Wang Feng protested.

"You made me so mad I said something stupid! Now everyone's gonna get the wrong idea!"

"Alright, alright! We'll clear things up later, okay? Maybe…" Wang Feng scratched his head. "…maybe people won't take it that far?"

They both fell silent.

Then, from outside, came a muffled voice:

"Hey… do you think Wang Feng is the, uh, top or the bottom?"

"...."

Wang Dong immediately resumed whacking Wang Feng with a pillow, yelling, "THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!!"

Wang Feng could only surrender, shouting, "I'M A VICTIM HERE TOO, YOU KNOW!!"
